44 4/18/2019 8:10:00 AM Summer 1861 Union Message Jeff> - Hi Mike,
- Moore = Monroe for the SM correct?
- Figure it was just a typo but wanted to make sure. :-)
- now for the Generals, seems we have been told different things. :-)
- Humm.... I tried the same thing with the Cav. but my opponent explained they are indeed Generals.
- And looking at 10.64 mentions a Cav. General being revealed.
- 5.51 calls them Generals as well.
- Interesting on the NEWLY arrived arguement.
- The two games I played before both opponents rolled for returning generals.
- I guess it depends on what newly actually means in this case.
- Humm... rules do leave that open to interperation.... although I would think they would have mentioned two seperate steps if that was the case.
- And the exampledoesn't go that far.
- 1.4 applies?
- Thinking we might want to kick it upstairs for an answer?
- That way we will actually know which approach is correct?

- 1SP from Nashville back to Madison
- 1SP from Nashville back to Steven

Regarding the 2 generals, I was told the rules are interpreted as follows:
1) A general placed on the turn track due to combat is not a NEWLY arriving general and therefore can placed anywhere by the player.
2) Stuart is not a general but a cavalry brigade and therefore can be placed anywhere by the player.

- Couple of questions.
- Looks like you SM'ed 9 SP but I think you are limited to only 7
- 10.22
- I also think you have to roll for random placement with all the Generals.
- I don't believe you can select where to place some and roll for others.
- Unless I am missing something?
- 10.61
- I'll go ahead and draw my cards and let you take a look.

33 4/15/2019 8:11:00 AM Spring 1861 Confederate Message SM occurs before general placement. It should be Union SM now. However, you have done general placement first. Suggestion on how to proceed? Having the Union generals in place before SM, greatly favors the Union.

Confederate Player may move 2 SPs using Strategic Movement from the same space using rail connections only (5 space maximum) to the same space with a Confederate General who is then activated and must attempt to enter a space with at least one or more Union SPs or fort. OR play this card as an automatic 2 space interception. Intervening space must be friendly controlled and free of enemy SPs. The intervening space may be the one just exited by the moving enemy force. No Generals or SPs may be picked up or dropped off during the intercept.

21 4/9/2019 2:51:00 PM Spring 1861 Union Message Hi Mike,

Had to look as I had it used against me twice already.

I don't believe railroad logistics variant is in play?

Numbering system is not matching up with the copy I printed off. 20 is the Operations Queue not rule 19 as listed below. Might be the confusing part?

The Campaign game will be the scenario used for all games in this tournament. All optional rules in the rulebook ARE IN EFFECT for this tournament. This includes the 20 extra cards from the 2006 edition, Optional Cavalry Replacement (rule 5.55), Special General Capabilities for McClellan, Van Dorn, Forrest and Sheridan (rule 5.67) and the Operations Queue (rule 19). Tenth Anniversary variants (Simple Naval, Complex Naval, or Railroad Logistics) may be used only with the agreement of both players.
20 4/8/2019 3:14:00 PM Spring 1861 Confederate Message Just realized your initial move by the AofP was illegal. The tournament calls for rule 19.0 to be in play. Rule 8.1.3 under rule 19.0 would have the space for Winchester cost 2MP's each time you entered. Your final move and attack at Manassas would not be possible. Not sure how to proceed - any suggestions.
19 4/8/2019 10:33:00 AM Spring 1861 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #117: 3 / Clandestine Blockade Runner Port
If the state of Florida and the St. Marks, Florida space is Confederate controlled, St. Marks is treated as a blockade runner port for the remainder of the game. Place (no LOC required) 2SPs and a fort (optional if available) in the St. Marks space. Remove from deck if event is played.

I think that's one of the optional rules that is in the tournament I believe. 5.55, 5.67 and 19 I think from my print out here.

Vassal file is up to you. I use it to track the game in any case. Sent the text output to my last opponent last game as he used Cyberboard instead I believe.

btw: this will be my 3rd game of this so my apologies in advance for any errors. :-)

Think you get to decide if you have a card that allows you to go first as I recall.

Off to draw mine now. :-)

Good luck!
