356 5/21/2019 12:02:00 PM 211-210 BC Carthage Message I didn't play Cato after your first Campaign because it didn't occur to me that you might have another. This was a mistake and you're right that I should have anyway. (I figured at the time I could reinforce Carthage by sailing 5 with a 3-op card, but the second Campaign made that ~impossible so I just had to hope for bad rolls.)

You are also right that Hanno should have fought to deny you a Siege roll. This is the first time I've ever lost a game this way (2 Campaigns to set up a Carthage siege) so I learned a lot. Thanks for the game.
355 5/21/2019 12:37:00 AM 211-210 BC Rome Message I think you could have played Cato anyway and prevented any follow-up and then use the 3 Siege Train to land Hasdrubal with 5 to reinforce Hanno while I took WNumidia.

That would have left Marcellus in Italy where you had an upper hand, and maybe I can regain a province or two if I win a Battle.

Even if I survive the turn, after the play of Tarentum, Syracuse and Corsica with Capua and Sicily already gone the next turn will be bleak especially if there are political Battle losses. And in the end I have to reduce you to 8 to Win.

I wonder if you were not aware of the provision of 10.2.7. where "...an Army may never conduct a Land Battle and then a Siege..."

Had Hanno left 2 outside rather than gone into Carthage he would have denied Marcellus his +1 that enabled him to roll the first siege point (and a chance for 2!). And then Hanno +1 could have equally denied Africanus his roll in the same Campaign.

I hope you get another round in before WBC. I once lost a similar game at WBC, but it was the last Turn and I had a Double Army of Africanus and Marcellus +20 and a Siege point on Carthage when he played a Truce. I had no cards to break it unless Stuart the moderator would let me play "Opposing Fleet Breaks Siege" to oppose myself! But he did not.

thanks, Randy
354 5/20/2019 9:31:00 PM 211-210 BC Carthage Message GG

I have Corsica and Sardinia Revolt in my hand so if you didn't finish the siege this turn I was going to win on flags at the end of turn (that second campaign made it impossible for me to fight you and made you a decent favorite to win before then though).

Also good job going first as Cato was going to counsel Rome not to go to Africa if you didn't ...
353 5/20/2019 8:48:00 PM 211-210 BC Rome Message 4-1 = 3 a 1/1 Result and Siege Point to 3

279 5/10/2019 10:57:00 PM 213-212 BC Rome Message It wasn't likely but had Longus Avoided to Rhegium and Hannibal Pursued I think I could have put 2 CUs in the City and stood with 3 and possibly Retreated with Longus alone into the City.

The Consul Rule (18.1) seems to allow splitting in the City as it's a "space within a space" (10.7). But I wonder if those inside would count as "accompanying" the General if he loses all CUs outside (10.10).

Of course Longus could have entered with the CUs inside (10.7) but the 3 outside would not have gotten the extra Battle Cards for Allies (14.3).

That sounds like a General can only accompany one of the forces but not both simultaneously, so I think the General would be Displaced if all the CUs outside are lost in Battle.
