143 6/14/2019 10:38:00 AM May-Aug 1942 Allies Message I will select the Arcadia conference card.
So I will now draw 4 cards.
If I remember well, it is not possible to call up the Arcadia card, so if I draw it on later turnw we will just discard it and draw another card.

142 6/14/2019 8:48:00 AM May-Aug 1942 Japanese Message That is fine, I am happy to play the Japanese again. I am on holiday right now and have infrequent access to the internet, so you can set up a new game for us when you are ready.
141 6/13/2019 2:54:00 PM May-Aug 1942 Allies Message Ok for another game. Can I play allies again. Will not make the same mistake twice
140 6/12/2019 7:26:00 PM May-Aug 1942 Japanese Message Hello Claudio - With the loss of the allied fleet on this attack the game will most likely end at the end of this turn. Allies will lose 2 PW for having no USN ships on the board, 1 PW for the Japanese control of Midway at the end of the turn and 1 PW for the surrender of Malaya. I will go ahead and report that result if it is OK with you.

Allied early allied play must avoid any major battle with the Japanese since the force ratio heavily favors the Japanese. The first three turns are spent protecting the US navy units and hoping to inflict some losses on the Japanese as they advance to capture resource spaces. Yes, your opening attack was very ill advised.

If you would like to practice a bit, we could start a new game so you can gain some experience. I would be happy to take either side and give advice along the way.
139 6/12/2019 3:54:00 PM May-Aug 1942 Allies Message I was expecgting this kind of outcome.
Given the situation, do you think that it is worth the effort of fighting with the Allies?

I have the impression that my 1st offensive on turn 2 was a major mistake as it weakened the forces in Hawaii, opening the way for their complete destruciton.
I am ok to continue playing if you want, but given my low level of expertise on the game, I doubt I can reverse the current trend.

138 6/12/2019 10:27:00 AM May-Aug 1942 Japanese Message No damage at Wake Island.
I have conducted the Japanese PBM. You have two air units that survived the battles that could conduct PBM.

After your PBM, to you for your next card play.

Japanese have 32 hits, enough to damage 2 of the 3 undamaged Japanese ships. I will flip the two BBs, but you may assign one of the losses to the CVL if you want to.

Note that air units may not base in 5408 (Air Ferry), they may only use it as a 'stepping stone' when moving. This means that there are no units in range of Oahu that can join that battle. The air unit at Johnston Island my join the battle at Kauai at extended range. The event gives all naval units 21 hexes of movement for this activation.

112 5/27/2019 7:23:00 PM Jan-Apr 1942 Japanese Message After you take your replacements, you can roll for the Submarine Warfare for turn 3. When you draw your hand for turn 3, remember to set the number of cards you draw to 6. You will have one Pass.

If the Submarine Warfare die roll fails, then Japan will start with 7 cards. I will have to wait for you to declare if you are going to use your FO card to go first. If we both start with 6 cards, then the Japanese must go first in 1942.

108 5/27/2019 7:19:00 PM Jan-Apr 1942 Japanese Message OK, we will adjust the move of the Philippines Brigade. It goes to Kendari on your final card play. This will allow the allies to retain control of Kendari when the DEI surrenders.
ABDA HQ returns to Kendari. See the log file for the changes this causes.

Japanese reinforcements:
26AF to Makassar, which will put ABDA HQ Out of Supply
6AD to Davao

104 5/27/2019 3:24:00 PM Jan-Apr 1942 Allies Message Hello, I am travelling and I lagged behind on all games.

YOu said:
You 'could' conduct an SR of the Philippines brigade to Kendari. With a US ground unit there when the Philippines falls the allies would retain control of the port and the ABDA HQ would remain in play.

Can I still do that. It makes sense to regroup on the HQ, at least to avoid some attrition.
In any case i will roll for the delayed reinf.

I think the roll for delay is 0=3 at WIE2
103 5/23/2019 8:17:00 PM Jan-Apr 1942 Japanese Message Next is the Allies Reinforcement phase. All of your units in the Delayed Reinforcement box arrive, along with the ANZAC and S. PAC HQ units that arrive as turn 3 reinforcements. Reinforcements must be placed in a hex where they are in supply and within range of an HQ that can activate them.

Reinforcements may be placed in the same port where ANZAC or S. PAC HQ are placed, but those HQs may not be used to place reinforcements anywhere else.

The four USAAF and two US army corps units that arrive on turn 3 must each roll to see if their arrival is delayed for 3 turns. With the WiE at Level 2 they are delayed on a 0-4 roll. Those that pass and all other turn 3 reinforcements go to the Delayed Reinforcement box.

Then it will be the Japanese turn to place reinforcements.
102 5/23/2019 8:08:00 PM Jan-Apr 1942 Japanese Message 4.3 - Political Phase
4.31 - National Status Segment
Japanese have met the conditions for the surrender of the Philippines and the Dutch East Indies.
Japanese gain control of all air bases and ports in the DEI and Philippines.
All Dutch units are eliminated, as well as the ABDA HQ.
Both Alaska (Attu/Kiska) and Hawaii (Midway) are occupied for the first turn.

4.32 - Political Will
US PW -1 for surrender of DEI
US PW -1 for surrender of Philippines
US PW -1 for no USN carrier units in play
US PW -1 for no USN naval units of any type in play
Note that there will be a -1PW if the Japanese still control Hawaii at the end of turn 3 and another -1PW if they Japanese still control Attu/Kiska at the end of turn 5.

4.4 - Attrition
With ABDA removed and Malaya HQ OOS, all commonwealth air and ground units not in range of SEAC HQ suffer attrition.
If [19th LRB] goes to Sarong, then Japanese 1SN suffers attrition.
Japanese ED army at Midway suffers attrition.
101 5/22/2019 4:16:00 PM Jan-Apr 1942 Japanese Message Your move is fine. The ground unit uses your 1 ASP to AA Vogelkop and it is never in an uncontested Japanese air ZoI. The Dutch AF move is also OK. Note that it may not engage in combat since it used extended range for movement.

You may not get the result you want. The Japanese have met the requirement for the conquest of the Dutch East Indies, so the Dutch units will all be removed during the National Status phase. The ABDA HQ by itself does not retain control of the port and it, too, will be eliminated when the DEI falls.

You 'could' conduct an SR of the Philippines brigade to Kendari. With a US ground unit there when the Philippines falls the allies would retain control of the port and the ABDA HQ would remain in play.

I am not sure you want to do that, but thought I would point out that option. The Japanese usually have an air ZoI from Davao to prevent this. I should have left the 21AF at Davao and PBM the CA Takao from Biak to Balikpapan.

Message from Allies:
Dutch air attack
81 5/14/2019 8:16:00 PM Jan-Apr 1942 Japanese Message Yes, the Dutch air unit would conduct an air/naval attack against the ground units before ground combat. It would need a critical hit to eliminate the Japanese army (lowest defense strength).

Note that no allied HQ can trace a supply path to Sinkawang, so the Dutch AF will be OOS there. Should you conduct an EAM to Bandjermasin or Bali then ABDA HQ would be able to provide supply.

There is no Japanese PBM, since only ground units were activated and they do not get Post battle movement.

Go ahead and conduct the air attack at Tjilatjap, then reconsider your EAM. After that it is your turn to play a card or pass.

68 5/12/2019 2:08:00 PM Jan-Apr 1942 Allies Message So for the amphibous landing the ducht regiment is destroyed and the hex captured.
I will resolve the Darwin attack now

67 5/12/2019 10:25:00 AM Jan-Apr 1942 Japanese Message For each battle, you resolve air/naval combat, then resolve ground combat.

In battle A the allies have no air/naval units, so they cannot do any damage. Since an air/naval attack on ground units may not eliminate the last ground step in a hex, the Japanese cannot do any damage to the allies either.

For ground combat the Dutch regiment can get no more than 2 hits, so it cannot hurt the Japanese unit. The Japanese CVL gives them a +2drm for uncontested air, +2drm for uncontested naval and a -2drm for terrain, so they have a +2drm. They need only a x1 result to get 9 hits to eliminate the defending Dutch Regiment.

For Battle B, the Japanese have no ground units in the battle, so only air/naval combat is resolved. The Japanese have 12 factors for the carrier and 12 factors for the CA for a total of 24. The allies have 7 factors for their 3 surface ships. Since the allies have no air/cv units in the battle, they cannot apply any hits to the Japanese CV.

Submarine attack
62 5/12/2019 1:41:00 AM Jan-Apr 1942 Allies Play Strategy card as Event #78: 1 / Submarine Attack: British X Craft Attack Singapore
Play during an offensive before the beginning of the combat phase, or at the conclusion of the Offensive if no battle hexes are declared during the Offensive. On a die roll of: 0-7: Japanese lose one naval step (Allies chooses, can eliminated a unit). 8-9: No Effect. The target naval unit must be inactive and in a non-Japanese Islands port hex. Draw one Strategy Card. Remove from play if used as an event.

OC: 1 EC: 0

Message from Allies:
I will try to eliminate the (CV Zuiho) in Rabaul
61 5/11/2019 11:06:00 PM Jan-Apr 1942 Japanese Play Strategy card as Event #58: 3 / Western Force: Conquest of Sumatra
Activation: South or South Seas HQs only. Logistic Value: 5 Paratroopers: Prior to movement place a Japanese control marker in a hex that is within extended range of an active Japanese air unit if (1) the hex is either unoccupied or is occupied solely by a Dutch regiment; and (2) the hex is not within an unneutralized Allied air ZOI. Eliminate the Dutch regiment.

OC: 5 EC: 7

Message from Japanese:
Activate South HQ: Logistics 5+1=6 units
1. 22AF Kualu Lampur, no move, Paratroops capture Medan
2. [35th xxxx] Shanghai AA vs Bangka, 3/7ASP
3-4. CVL Ryujo and [17th xxxx] AA vs Tarakan. 4/7 ASP [A]
5. CV Akagi Davao to 3120, attack Darwin. [B]
6. CA Takao Tainan to Darwin, battle [B]

Again there are no supplied allies HQs in range of the battle hexes, so no allied interception is possible. 0-7 needed to avoid a surprise attack.

Battle A has Japanese with 24 factors, Allies with 7 factors.
Battle B has the Japanese with 9 factors conducting the AA and a net +2drm.
+4drm for air and naval units (the CVL unit) and -2drm for Mixed Terrain.
60 5/11/2019 3:00:00 PM Jan-Apr 1942 Allies Message Done.
59 5/10/2019 4:58:00 PM Jan-Apr 1942 Japanese Message Confirmed, the Japanese air unit is eliminated due to the event.

Japanese PBM is done, so over to you for your PBM.
58 5/10/2019 3:45:00 PM Jan-Apr 1942 Allies Message I confirm the losses
2 CVs (12+12) + reduce the air unit in Kwajamein for 10.
+ 1 extra hit on the air unit in Kwajalein due to the event => Eliminated.
57 5/10/2019 3:34:00 PM Jan-Apr 1942 Allies Message Would need some help for the hit allocation.
Can I place hits on your CVs? I am not sure I understantd well rule 9.2F4. Does it mean that I can only reduce units in the battle hex?
If not, it maybe means that I can only reduce 2 units outside the battle hex because I have 2 CVs.
In that case losses would be on the 2 CVs (12+12) + reduce the air unit in Kwajamein for 10.

Message from Japanese:
You played the card for the event and the EC value is 5. Since you moved naval units into the air ZoI of my force at Kwajalein there is a -2drm to the Intel Roll.

Intelligence roll with a -2drm, 0-7 is needed for intercept.
52 5/10/2019 2:59:00 PM Jan-Apr 1942 Japanese Message The number of legs an air unit may move is based on the OPs value of the card. Since it is a 3OPs card, air units may use 3 legs of movement. If using Strategic Movement, which is the case here, they may double the number of legs of movement.

7AF has 6 legs of movement available for SR, enough to reach Funafuti.
51 5/10/2019 1:31:00 PM Jan-Apr 1942 Allies Message Guadalcanal would need 11 legs. So if I can fly 10 legs it is to Espiritu Santo

50 5/10/2019 1:30:00 PM Jan-Apr 1942 Allies Play Strategy card as Event #55: 3 / Operation Forager: Marianas Is. Invasion
Activate: Any HQ. Logistic Value: 6 if US Central Pac HQ, for all others: 4 The Great Marianas Turkey Shoot: Japanese aircraft carrier naval units have their attack strength reduced by 2 for the duration of this Offensive. In addition, at the conclusion of the Offensive, one active Japanese air unit or an air unit in a battle hex (Allied Player's choice) loses one step, which may eliminate the air unit.

OC: 3 EC: 5

Message from Allies:
Not sure I need to detail all moves?
CV Enterprise + Lexington to 4814
7AF 4-10-6 from Ohau to Wake
7AF 10-10-2/4 Strat move from Midway to Guadalcanal (10 legs as EC = 5? or should I count based on OC? then I would stop at Samoa.
