112 6/19/2019 4:10:00 AM 1805-1806 Moderator Message Ok Geoff I am sorry
111 6/17/2019 8:26:00 AM 1805-1806 France Message I already have a 1st place plaque in Napoleonic Wars, from 2004, I don't need another..
110 6/17/2019 8:24:00 AM 1805-1806 France Message I don't see how discarding a card, seeing what it is, and then deciding to keep/discard breaks the game.

I mean, I do see that, but it simply wouldn't be allowed, the card to the neutral must be random from your hand, period. if I discard a card, how would I get it into Sweden's hand, it makes no sense..

See, that is where my version, where the card goes into the card, is better, because that cheat isn't possible, its only possible because of the tournament rules...

So I'm punished for breaking rules that aren't possible to break, playing the way I play?

Any game that has the Empire called 3 times in the first turn, is too serious.

I heard by yield the game to Ken, and will not continue to play..

Thanks for the game Ken...
109 6/16/2019 11:07:00 PM 1805-1806 Moderator Message Or, if you would rather not have this get messy we can accept Geoffs offer to concede but play out the game
108 6/14/2019 7:55:00 PM 1805-1806 Moderator Message Lancers has been assigned to Britain as a discard

Geoff please tell me which card France gave Sweden, if you cannot remember I will pick at random

105 6/14/2019 7:50:00 PM 1805-1806 Moderator Message With regard for Russia Mobilises.

I understand that you made a mistake and I am in NO WAY accusing you of doing so deliberately.

However, if I let that stand then it means that anyone at any time can hit discard instead of swap and accept the result if it is card they don't want to keep or take the card back and do it the right way if they don't want to lose it.

Again I am not accusing you of that, I just to have to open to what people could do.

Therefore even if you didn't hit the right button, that's the card that was chosen and it stands in the same way the first card would stand if you'd hit discard twice

Therefore:

Sweden will retain Russia Mobilises
104 6/14/2019 7:43:00 PM 1805-1806 Moderator Message Item 1:

There is a procedure for card draw for a neutral in the tournament rules

If the two of you agree to do something else that is between you

However in the case of dispute I will resolve to follow the rules as advertised, especially when this is just after a problem was created by the new rules not being followed.

Therefore:

Lancers will be returned to the Swedish hand in replacement of whatever is there now
103 6/13/2019 8:54:00 PM 1805-1806 France Message Actually, I'm not sure that's true, it was in the French Hand, and not selected randomly to go to Sweden, I know which card did, which I did after returning them to normal.. So why should Sweden get a different card from my hand?
102 6/13/2019 8:52:00 PM 1805-1806 France Message Yes, but neither play knew that in advance, so it was still random..
101 6/13/2019 5:12:00 PM 1805-1806 Moderator Message I'm going to reach out to the rest of the ref team.

Apart from anything else, there is a case that Russia Mobilises should have ended up in the Swedish hand, but it would then be dropped when they were sent neutral
100 6/13/2019 5:07:00 PM 1805-1806 Moderator Message I think it would have been helpful for me to post the link to how to handle this when the issue first arose

That said, doing the same thing that proved problematic again straight afterwards was probably not great, but I understand people function on what is used to them

I'm not going to debate the relative merits or otherwise of the advance rulings made in the tournament rules, even if they all make sense to me.

I have for example ruled that if too many dice are rolled, the bottom ones are dropped. Some might be used to rerolling, others to drop from the top. There is little intrinsic merit to any of those ways of doing it but it is explicitly there so that if one player is used to their way of doing things and the other is used to their way of doing things that doesn't matter because there is A way of doing things that has already been sorted out in advance.

If you were both used to handling neutral draws the way Geoff has we would not have a problem, but you are not and there is a rule existing that says what should happen in this instance. If that is not followed then a player has the right to insist that it is.

99 6/12/2019 9:18:00 AM 1805-1806 France Message I just want the card count in ACTs to be correct, otherwise I'm sure I will forget to play cards for neutrals, since I won't scan the entire turn log before each play.
98 6/12/2019 9:17:00 AM 1805-1806 France Message The tournament rules also specify a 48 hr turnaround moves at Max, but you took 4 days between move 22 and 25, yet I did not complain.

The tournament rules seem to want peoe get get along and play efficiently, given the limitations of ACTS.. Allowances are made for that.

97 6/12/2019 8:56:00 AM 1805-1806 France Message Sorry, I'm a bit brittle right now, and you are pushing my buttons in a bad way.

I will do whatever you want to resovle the situation, if you prefer to run the neutrals, that is fine, since I'm clearly not capable of doing it.
96 6/12/2019 8:20:00 AM 1805-1806 France Message Sorry, my previous opponent did this as well, and it never caused any fuss, since it had no impact on the game.. (because the cards the neutral holds don't get put into the discard pile, but are shuffled back into the deck as well)..
95 6/12/2019 8:17:00 AM 1805-1806 France Message I did not see that as part of the posted rules, and that is how I've always handled it for play Nappy on Acts for the last 10 years..

If it upsets you this much, I'll yield the game to you right now, and then we can continue to play?

I don't want to cause any problems, but I want an enjoyable game. So far, I'm not having much fun, as it seems everything I do gets challenged, because you think I'm trying to take advantage.

I don't count cards, and I don't try to win by taking advantage of small rules here and there, I want to win by leading a 20+ army and rolling well. But I'll leave it up to you to decide what to do. I could just give you Turkey as a free ally now, or I'll play all my cards open-handed against yours closed.. Whatever you prefer.
94 6/11/2019 11:08:00 PM 1805-1806 Britain Message I have asked Gareth to review what just happened as this is the second time the posted tournament rules were not followed.

The rules state:

"Several Events require a Neutral to draw an extra card

Should this happen, make a note that this will be resolved in that Neutral’s next Impulse"

It then states how that should be done.

73 6/11/2019 4:02:00 PM 1805-1806 Britain Message I am not going to repeat the same mistake by looking at the cards.

I don't think it is ridiculous to expect to have the same information as my opponent in a tournament game, ie. cards that are not in my opponent's hand.

While the game should be fun, it is also a tournament game.

That being said, if you say you don't know what they are, I believe you.
72 6/11/2019 11:15:00 AM 1805-1806 France Message And I couldn't tell you want the card were if I wanted to since I did t look at them, since i knew they would be put back I to the deck and drawn again.

But if you feel I'm trying to gain some crazy advantage, take control of turkey look, and don't tell me the results.

I just want to play a fun game.
71 6/11/2019 11:12:00 AM 1805-1806 France Message I seed the advantage (which is 0) to you.
70 6/11/2019 11:12:00 AM 1805-1806 France Message Those cards aren't out of play, they are put back into the deck, and are part of the redraw. There is a small (0.001%) chance that exactly the same cards could be drawn.

This is getting rediculous.
Take control of turkey look at whAt they have, and don't tell me, I need whatever advantage you think you get to you, in the name of game speed.

69 6/11/2019 8:22:00 AM 1805-1806 Britain Message I have gone in to a test game and concur that ACTS now automatically discards and redraws on ownership change.

The issue is still, however, that you have knowledge of 2 cards that are now not in play and I don't.

In addition, 2 other cards are now in play that shouldn't be and therefore neither of us have the chance to draw them.

So I need to know which two cards Turkey had so we have the same information.
68 6/11/2019 7:36:00 AM 1805-1806 France Message You don't have to do it that way..

When a country goes from player controlled to neutral, ACTS shuffles and redraws the cards for it, so whatever cards I saw that Turkey had, are (unless redrawn) not in its hand anymore, so its a moot point..
67 6/10/2019 8:32:00 AM 1805-1806 Britain Message Geoff,

We have one issue with turkey play. The extra card should have just been noted and ownership changed to draw the card once Turkey was out of cards.

Since you took control of Turkey to draw card, you have seen the two cards Turkey has and I have not.

How should we fix this? Should I just take over temporary ownership of Turkey so we have equal knowledge?
