34 7/19/2019 10:55:00 AM Jan-Apr 1942 Allies Message Larry, my mistake, you did not attack Kuantan with 39th Army. But if it is OK, lets modify that move slightly and go ahead and take Kuantan with the 38th. It is a very safe attack for you, with you losing a step only on a 9. The A/N result changes, but all you needed was a 1x to eliminate the defender.
33 7/19/2019 10:50:00 AM Jan-Apr 1942 Allies Message A/N causes 3 Ind to flip, which makes second roll moot.
3 Ind eliminated, no losses to JP.

15 7/13/2019 8:09:00 PM Jan-Apr 1942 Allies Message Couple of things Larry:
The NAF's in Saigon are attacking both targets at long range, so would only be 1/2 strength. They can easily get a little closer to both 2108 and Singapore, so that is easy to fix.
Activations are very precious for JP in the early going, but getting these Air units out of the game is probably worth it. Go ahead and reposition those units in Saigon, and I'll roll for reaction. I would not be inclined to use Rochefort for these attacks, as AP has very limited forces within range.
14 7/13/2019 2:49:00 PM Jan-Apr 1942 Japanese Message The first two attacks are fairly obvious...take out the air over HQs to prevent interdiction in the future

The last attack (C) is an attempt to prevent an early "fortress" Rangoon...plus I could damage two planes with the right roll...this is what I consider a risk attack...I looked for a better attack but did not see any...I could be missing placement of units for next impulse...?!

10 7/12/2019 6:22:00 PM Jan-Apr 1942 Allies Message Absolutely no rush Larry. One of the best things about these CDG’s is pondering how best to execute your strategy with the cards you’ve drawn. It’s one of the reasons they have such high replayability, and also one of the causes of the dreaded “analysis paralysis”.
9 7/12/2019 5:55:00 PM Jan-Apr 1942 Japanese Message HI Robert...been very busy today...will get my move

8 7/11/2019 6:03:00 PM Jan-Apr 1942 Allies Message Hey Larry,
We can do this any way you want. Let me know what your objectives for the turn are, and then go ahead and generate a move. Then we can look at that, consider some alternatives, and go to the next card.
7 7/11/2019 5:27:00 PM Jan-Apr 1942 Japanese Message Hi Robert...not sure how to go here...do I do a move on a file so we can discuss...or text? Larry
6 7/10/2019 9:50:00 PM Jan-Apr 1942 Allies Message Hey Larry,
So JP has a lot to accomplish this turn. The historical hand gives you plenty of firepower. Halsey’s Typhoon is obviously a huge card, it is almost worth a PW point as it can shut down the best AP offensive Event. Of course, AP is not likely to do much for the next 2 turns, so FOQing it and holding it is not a bad idea.
Typically JP will use there first card to try to eliminate the AP air in Manila and Singapore. This will isolate the HQ’s and seriously limit any AP mischief.
Do you agree, and if you do, how would you proceed?
5 7/10/2019 8:17:00 PM Jan-Apr 1942 Japanese Message Here are mine:

27 1 / Submarine Attack: I-19 sinks the Wasp
Play during an offensive; at the end of all combat against any active Allied naval units or against any active Allied naval unit, if no battle hexes were declared during the Offensive. On a die roll of: 0-4: Lose one naval step* 5-7: Lose two naval steps* 8-9: No Effect. *Japanese choice; can eliminate a unit. Draw one Strategy Card.
84 1 / JN25 Code Change
Intelligence: Intercept Draw one Strategy Card.
30 3 / Flight Instructors: Japanese Improve Training and Maintenance.
3 Air Replacements: The Japanese player receives 3 air replacement steps that may be used immediately or recorded as replacement steps for future use. Remove from play if used as an event.
64 2 / Weather: Halsey's Typhoon
Allied Offensive is canceled. All units are placed back at their starting locations. The Japanese player may reduce one full strength Allied CA or DD naval unit (Japanese player choice) that was activated for the canceled Offensive. This can only reduce, not eliminate, the naval unit. If none of the specified naval units are available, there is no additional effect. Draw one Strategy Card. Remove from play if used as an event.
59 3 / Central Force: Conquest of Borneo
Activation: South or South Seas HQs only. Logistic Value: 5 Paratroopers: Prior to movement place a Japanese control marker in a hex that is within extended range of an active Japanese air unit if (1) the hex is either unoccupied or is occupied solely by a Dutch regiment; and (2) the hex is not within an unneutralized Allied air ZOI. Eliminate the Dutch regiment.
3 2 / Col. Tsuji, Unit 82: Jungle Warfare
Activate: Any HQ Logistic Value: 3 Intelligence: Surprise Attack Conditions: Only Japanese ground units may be activated. Bonus: In any ground combat that occurs in a Malaya, Jungle or Mixed terrain hex for the duration of this operation, the final die roll modifier for the Japanese in any ground battles is +4.
47 3 / VADM Kondo: Conquest of the Dutch East Indies
Activation: South or South Seas HQs only. Logistic Value: 7 Float Plane Tactics: Japanese CA naval units add 2 to their attack strengths for the duration of this Offensive.
4 7/10/2019 8:16:00 PM Jan-Apr 1942 Japanese Draw Strategy cards Drew 7 cards.

NOTE: Using 'Historical Opening' option.

3 7/10/2019 4:04:00 PM Jan-Apr 1942 Allies Message Let me know when you draw your cards, make sure you take the Historical option for the JP cards.
AP has the "Midway" card, which can be a killer under certain circumstances...
2 7/10/2019 3:58:00 PM Jan-Apr 1942 Allies Message OK Larry, here is the new game.

2 / China Airlift
Hump Operations into China: Flip the Burma Road Status marker from its No Hump to Hump side for the remainder of the game. Bonus: The AVG air unit (which normally cannot receive replacements) or a 14th AF air unit (either one) immediately receives a replacement step if it is in Northern India, Burma, or the Air units in China box. This replacement can be used to bring a 14th AF air unit (but not the AVG) back from elimination in any friendly in supply Northern India or Burma airfield. Remove from play if used as an event.
72
2 / Halsey: Carrier Raids on Japan
Activate: Any HQ. Logistic Value: 8 if US Central Pac HQ, for all others: 4. Bonus: If during the offensive a US carrier naval unit declares a battle in a Japanese Island hex, unless the Japanese immediately play a weather card, the Allies randomly remove one card from the Japanese hand.
3
1 / Prime Minister Curtin
2 Ground replacements: The Australians get two ground replacements that must be used immediately to bring Australian ground units from reduced to full strength, or from the eliminated plie to reduced strength or full strength, which are placed in any friendly Australian port. Any unused replacements are forfeit. Remove from play if used as an event.
48
2 / New China Army: Stilwell Burma Offensive
