367 1/21/2020 1:46:00 PM Fall 1862 Union Message Hoping I can play 3 games at least. That would require single win I think.

In PoG tourney, I'm currently waiting for the next round to begin. Currently 3-0 so I'll guess next game will be quite hard.

Was just about to write a long answer but just roll the general casualty again with 3 generals. If it strikes Forrest again then its the way ACTS wishes it to be hoh.
366 1/21/2020 1:43:00 PM Fall 1862 Confederate Message Ok thank you, that will also change my general casualty check will it not...since now i will have 3 generals to randomly decide fate. ugh, so many problems were created by that mistake. or if it would be more fair, a roll off between Pemberton and Forrest since fate already decided PGT was safe. up to you since it was my screw up. i think you have the game well in hand either way even with this hail mary since Grant is coming to town.
365 1/21/2020 1:42:00 PM Fall 1862 Confederate Message By the way, good luck on your tourney. if I wasn't looking at moving into a new house this spring and so busy with PBEM, i would have joined in, but I will wait till next year. I look forward to hearing tales fo your exploits as you assuredly will go farther than I would.

has POG tourney resumed or still waiting for next round?
364 1/21/2020 1:41:00 PM Fall 1862 Union Message Its ok for me if you would have wished not to leave 2SP in Manassas and attack DC with 8SP. You can adjust your final 1mp move like that if you wish.
363 1/21/2020 1:39:00 PM Fall 1862 Confederate Message oh duh, stupid 4 SPs....had i realized that i would have not dropped 2 SPs in Manassas. Oh well, my fault for not looking closer.

please amend end of my log before you do the EOT stuff.
362 1/21/2020 1:38:00 PM Fall 1862 Confederate Message you have to decide where to send that SP and then I'm gonna leave EOT stuff to you if that is ok since I need to wrap up lunch and you have troops to place next and most of the PCs are yours to place plus the devastation of 3 CSA states :(
361 1/21/2020 1:38:00 PM Fall 1862 Union Message Baltimore is good retreat space I'll guess.
And no movement after combat as there were 4SPs in DC

Shall I make end of turn things?
Capital will move to Springfield IL
360 1/21/2020 1:36:00 PM Fall 1862 Confederate Message -30 SW for Capitol -3 FOW changing = 74-
359 1/21/2020 1:35:00 PM Fall 1862 Confederate Message ok so AONV had 6 going into battle. lost 1 in fight but Forrest fell so I had to drop 2 SPs, 1 lost and 1 to TT, n4. i will instead leave 2 in DC, n2 and march back to Frederick.
358 1/21/2020 1:33:00 PM Fall 1862 Confederate Message to where do you want to send that lone SP that survived. it can go to baltimore wehre it won't suffer attrition like it would in Annapolis or you can sail it I suppose.
357 1/21/2020 1:32:00 PM Fall 1862 Confederate Message nooooo! Forrest falls. struck down in his prime and replaced in 3 turns by Pegram. and per the rules i have to lose 2SPs that were part of his brigade and since we only lost 1 SP in fight i have to send 1 SP to turn track fo rnext turn.

354 1/21/2020 1:29:00 PM Fall 1862 Confederate Message Huzzah anyways, 3*-1 result upheld. actually, i was going to win the battle anyways once you rolled that 3 for a 1 result since at worst, Lee would be getting a 2* result to win.

now to do a General CC and probably lose Forrest as my cost.

All eyes of Dixie turn to Lee, PGT and Forrest at +7 to roll for DC!
352 1/21/2020 1:28:00 PM Fall 1862 Confederate Message Huzzah! Huzzah!

3*-1. The capitol falls.
and oh shit, you actually had 2 stacks of 2 so no force ratio so I need to roll to see if I can get the 3*.

I'm not using the Shiloh as event then as i don't want Lee to be eligible now that i might take a general casualty. i didn't rail any troops so i can keep my move playing it as 3 ops.
351 1/21/2020 1:26:00 PM Fall 1862 Union Message There was actually 4SPs in DC. Dont know why I left so many there but you need to roll too.

Message from Confederate:
Battle of DC, medium table.
CSA is guaranteed a 3* result due to the force ratio and generals.

All that is left is for the Union to fail the big test at +2 DRM.
349 1/21/2020 1:20:00 PM Fall 1862 Confederate Message Ok, here goes for AONV. 1st-2nd: Manassas Jct. and convert it.

leave 2 SP behind and Pemberton there in Manassas JCT.

3rd-4th: Frederick MD and convert the space, the hapless Banks (really doesn't deserve a 0-0 in my opinion based upon how well he well he conducted himself in the Vicksburg operation and Red River campaign until Grant pulled resources from him so he could make his final turning move around Vicksburg)

i debated going for the cut off at Baltimore and then driving OOS into DC but i'm going to roll the dice that i can win here in DC and then finish over in Baltimore if i want.
348 1/21/2020 1:10:00 PM Fall 1862 Confederate Message oof, even more sad, i cannot use rail movement wehre i am to get extra troops in
347 1/21/2020 1:03:00 PM Fall 1862 Union Message Hope I'm rolling that 6 for DC-defence hoh.
346 1/21/2020 1:02:00 PM Fall 1862 Confederate Play Strategy card as Event #100: 3 / Shiloh
Confederate Player may move 5 SPs using Strategic Movement (rail connections only) to the same space with a Confederate General who is then activated and must attempt to enter a space with at least one or more Union SPs or fort. If a general casualty occurs in a battle caused by this card, the Commanding General is eligible, this is an exception to the rules. See 4.5.

Message from Confederate:
This will be the AONV, and I need to decide how to proceed. in light of holding this card, it is doubly sad that I did not elect to take more troops from AONV rather than taking one from Sabine city where it could have been of more use.
345 1/21/2020 11:11:00 AM Fall 1862 Confederate Message Oh i'm definitely not going to stop you in Manassas. But I'm very bummed I did not get the chance to save TX and possibly discard your 3 ops card and you would have to be content with only stopping one of my last 2 moves with Empty Haversacks.

All because old Curtis intercepted AOM and forced me to spend a 1 ops so i would have combat supply for my move into Maryland. If he hadn't, then AOM could have converted teh space and secured that supply route on their last activation.

I need to take yoru capitol to have any hope of success long term now that I'm losing 2 states for good and 2 blockade zones!
344 1/21/2020 10:55:00 AM Fall 1862 Union Message Oh it didnt show in the journal.

Well it was Empty Haversacks. Was saving it to cancel your second to last move whatever that would have been as I hoped it would mess plans a bit.

Well got to go to Richmond
m1-2 Manassas + PC
m3-4 Fredericksburg + PC
m5-6 Hanover + PC

No point attacking. Wont change a thing at this point.
You have option to int in Manassas though I think you wont do it. File added.
343 1/21/2020 10:53:00 AM Fall 1862 Union Discard Strategy card Message from Union:
Just this
342 1/21/2020 10:33:00 AM Fall 1862 Confederate Message please say you had a great last card that i was able to discard!
341 1/21/2020 10:33:00 AM Fall 1862 Confederate Message well that was anticlimactic. wish i had left 2 SP's there and forced a medium battle or at least a small battle with no force multiplier. you win and the rest of yoru turn is as you mapped out.

my turn is forcing your army to move so i will just let you make the log finishing your move and then determine your path to Richmond. i think your only choices are wilderness path or fredericksburg since all others will be longer routes and disallowed. remmeber you are allowed to convert LOC along the way if you so desire.

336 1/21/2020 9:28:00 AM Fall 1862 Confederate Play Strategy card as Event #3: 1 / Forward to Richmond
Union may activate any Union army within 4 spaces of Richmond, VA. The army must enter Richmond or move as close to Richmond as possible, but may convert spaces to maintain an LOC. All SPs associated with the army must be moved (no dropping off SPs), except 1 SP may be left if the Army began its movement from a fort (if last SP, move completed). If played by the Confederate, he draws a card from the Union hand which is discarded, and the Union player follows the instructions of this card as his next card play.

Message from Confederate:
You discard your next card and activate the army of Potomac and march by shortest path to Richmond . I can’t believe how many games I have played and this is never been a fan or when it did come it would’ve been a benefit rather than a liability to the union
335 1/21/2020 9:27:00 AM Fall 1862 Confederate Message I could’ve done this next move one car place sooner if not for that stupid interception which made me spend a move to secure a western LOC for AONV rather than activate Jackson
334 1/21/2020 12:09:00 AM Fall 1862 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #61: 3 / Ship Island/Key West

322 1/16/2020 11:58:00 PM Fall 1862 Union Play Strategy card as Event #81: 3 / Emancipation Proclamation - Reshuffle/Remove
Either player must play this card as an EC on the Strategy Round immediately following a Union large or medium battle victory. Confederate loses 10 SW and 3 SPs (his choice). Union loses 5 SW. Flip GT marker to its Emancipation Proclamation side. Card must be the last one played by a player at which time it can be played as an OC card. If the play of this card as an OC results in a battle victory, there is no Emancipation Proclamation Remove from deck if event is played. If this card is played as an OC or discarded re-shuffle deck at the end of the Strategy Phase.

305 1/15/2020 7:05:00 PM Fall 1862 Confederate Message We sadly don't have many national heroes who are common soldiers. John Basilone comes to mind, or someone like Dick Winters because of the book and mini-series, Band of Brothers. But most of the American war heroes are Generals who are important but of course, I think most of WWII was won by sheer attrition and economic superiority and numbers of the Allies, not the genius of generals.

It was sad to read that he never married or had kids, but it does sound like he lived a peaceful life, which he earned and then some.
304 1/14/2020 12:47:00 PM Fall 1862 Union Message Good ol Simo Häyhä. The White Death.
He is one of those more famous soldiers who fought during that horrific conflict. I think that every book about the Winter war I've read has had a short chapter designated for him. I'll guess people just love hero stories. I just think Simo is a bit more highly regarded as he was a lot like a typical Finnish bloke who never complained, never talked more than needed and did his duty to his best.

I'm guessing that there are quite a few American national heroes too (other than John Rambo hoho) considering that your country has fought in many wars. A while back I read about this WW1 fellow who accomplished quite staggering feats. And I also had to read about that pacifist-guy after the Mel Gibson movie came out.

btw, I managed to join the For the People pbem tourney. Wish me luck. I'm sure that games are starting soon enough.

282 1/8/2020 2:06:00 PM Summer 1862 Confederate Message I'm sure you are going to encircle me but i'm hoping for a campaign card next turn to enable a break out.
281 1/8/2020 2:06:00 PM Summer 1862 Confederate Message Roll them bones!
280 1/8/2020 1:46:00 PM Summer 1862 Union Message Right on! No detached cavalry or anything. Will stand and fight probably resulting in a large battle victory for you.

Shall I roll?
279 1/8/2020 1:43:00 PM Summer 1862 Confederate Message i've put myself in a bad spot and i have to attempt to fight you due to event so I will plunge forward at Manassas.

8 SPs vs your 14 and I will use best subordinates for +7 unless you have detached cav or something.
278 1/8/2020 1:43:00 PM Summer 1862 Union Message Hah, dont think there is anything clever not to attempt interception but I just dont want to end up in Culpeper.
277 1/8/2020 1:29:00 PM Summer 1862 Confederate Message your decision not to intercept perplexes me. Are you baiting me and hoping to encircle with a campaign card?
276 1/7/2020 11:07:00 PM Summer 1862 Union Message No int, carry on.
275 1/7/2020 6:10:00 PM Summer 1862 Confederate Play Strategy card as Event #75: 2 / Western Concentration Block
Confederate player can either remove or demote an army commander in any state except Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, or Florida for no political cost. OR Confederate Player may move 5 SPs using Strategic Movement (rail connections only) to the same space with a Confederate General who is then activated and must attempt to enter a space with at least one or more Union SPs or fort. If a general casualty occurs in a battle caused by this card, the Commanding General is eligible, this is an exception to the rules. See 4.5 Remove from deck if event is played.

Message from Confederate:
Ok, AONV will be using this. take 2 SPs from Fernandina FL, n2 there, and 2 from Hanover (n0), n8 in AONV.

1st to Charlottesville, 2nd to convert it.
3rd-4th: Gordonsville-Culpeper. Little Mac can intercept me there so I will halt action and see your reaction.
274 1/7/2020 6:03:00 PM Summer 1862 Confederate Message curious what you hold as your last card. I'm guessing something dirty like a campaign card.

271 1/6/2020 5:04:00 PM Summer 1862 Confederate Message I accept your gracious offer. I was basically done if i couldn't break through there and i thought you were guaranteed eliminated. I will redo my move.
270 1/6/2020 1:01:00 AM Summer 1862 Union Message If you misread the map by accident do you wish to rethink and redo your move?
269 1/5/2020 4:00:00 PM Summer 1862 Confederate Message Oops, i was thinking you only had 1 SP there but actually 2 (and Curtis was even off to side so not sure what I was thinking) so I don't even get to take the space. wasn't thinking very well. Curtis down to 1 and AONV down to 1 as the retreat back to Lynchburg.

game probably over after you destroy the AONV
