668 1/16/2020 8:01:00 PM 1809-1810 France Message Britain is the game owner so go ahead and delete.
667 1/16/2020 12:19:00 AM 1809-1810 Britain Message From my point of view, the game can be deleted. Thanks all for playing.
666 1/12/2020 10:44:00 AM 1809-1810 France Message Hadn't heard of it until now. Looks like more of a simulation, but then pretty much anything is vs. TNW.

I can warn you away from the games that rode TNW's success, namely GMT's Wellington.

Same system but so full of whammy cards that what you do doesn't matter so much as who has the insanely powerful combat cards.

Kutusov is in the TNW vein but I haven't played it. The fact that it's been in the discount bin since shortly after its release doesn't make me want to invest the time to learn it.
665 1/12/2020 10:39:00 AM 1809-1810 Austria Message Anybody have experience with Napoleon Against Europe to compare? I've wanted to try that one but it's OOP and I'm not sure it can be Vassal'd without owning the game.
664 1/12/2020 10:19:00 AM 1809-1810 France Message Probably okay to delete this game.

On turn 1 the French usually try to contest enough zones to deny Brits Admiralty event. Usually this results in the French navy being eliminated. But occasionally the French come out on top.

North Sea is dangerous for Brits because it's 1 vs. 1 and if French win the French cav in Rotterdam can jump to Edinburgh creating headache for Brits.

Brits should clean up the sea areas fast as they can while they have a large fleet. Usually this works.

But what gives this game high replay value is the somewhat randomness of the combat system. Sometimes 20 rolls = one 6, other times many more.
663 1/11/2020 3:09:00 PM 1809-1810 Britain Message Congratulations from me too. Besides some luck with the dice, I also must admit you really got the British kept to their Island.

How would you encounter a strateghy like yours if the french sekks big naval battles?

You were right with Europe exhausted.
662 1/10/2020 7:19:00 PM 1809-1810 Austria Message Congratulations Tom! Thanks for showing us the way through the game. I enjoyed it, but Iíll pass on another round. I have a few other things keeping me busy at this time. Thanks again for all the help.
661 1/10/2020 7:23:00 AM 1809-1810 France Message Made no difference. Starving Austrians in the capital kick out their former Russian allies and submit to the French.

News of Kutusov's thrashing of Napoleon doesn't reach them until after Charles has signed the surrender declaration.

This game should of given you a feel for TNW. French are strong but brittle. Big battles can turn catastrophic for either side. And French usually can't keep Coalition from recruiting the other countries so the longer the game usually the worse off the French get.

The unusual thing about this game was the French winning control of the seas. That happens about 10% of the time and really handicaps the Coalition since it keeps Wellington at home or at least much less dangerous.

If you want to play another I'm game. I don't care what side I play.

I don't know if you want to continue this learning game or end it. If you prefer it end I'll spend a card. But if you want to fight on I won't.

Since we haven't had the really big battle we've been preparing for I won't spend a card.

So Peace dr +2

656 1/9/2020 2:24:00 PM 1809-1810 Britain Message Hooray to the Russians, what a battle. I still read the string of rolls down in tension insted of skipping to the result!

Tom, I might be wrong, but wasn`t Eurpe Echausted played for operations and thus the modifier for the peace die roll would not apply?
655 1/9/2020 6:54:00 AM 1809-1810 France Message Scots are good hosts, no casualties. Danes flag Edinburgh

Peace die roll is up. Only Russia could spend a card since Austria and Britain are at minimum hand size.

War Without End was played this turn so -1 to the roll.

Europe Exhausted was played so +3 to the roll, net +2

Game will end on dr of 4+ Possibly 3 if France spends a card and Russia doesn't. Or 5 if Russia spends a card and France doesn't.

604 1/5/2020 12:55:00 PM 1809-1810 France Message The Russians have only 3 CU in Austria, that's not bringing enough to the table for France to consider a peace.

583 12/29/2019 6:43:00 AM 1809-1810 Britain Prussia: Change Nation Owner to Neutral Message from Britain:
582 12/28/2019 6:49:00 PM 1809-1810 France Message A strategy note: Not recommending this but the reason Charles might want to intercept in Slavonia is that if the fight is not an overrun (even if Charles loses and retreats) Napoleon's army will be stopped for the turn. Once you fight a non overrun battle you can't move anymore. Only way to get an overrun is to eliminate the entire opposing force.
581 12/28/2019 6:46:00 PM 1809-1810 France Message Britain: You have to go to the Nations Overview menu, click on Prussia and turn them neutral.

Message from France:
On to France

1-2: Nappy and the Spanish to Slavonia
Possible intercept, will assume not but we can backup if Austria wants to
3: Flag Slavonia
4-5: Napoleon's and friends to Budapest

Austria's options are:
1. Charles can run away: Need 6+ to any adjacent location
2. Fight alone
3. Get Schwartzenburg +2 to help (he can't move the Russian): Needs 6+ to intercept

Evasions and intercepts can be done in any order.
You can try for the intercept and if you fail Charles can then run.

Currently the fight is A: 11 (Schwartz's force would make it 14) F: 18

576 12/27/2019 6:57:00 PM 1809-1810 France Denmark: Play Strategy card as Event #53: 6 / Royal Wedding
Move any Consul two boxes on Diplomatic Track. Not applicable to Turkish Consul. May break Pact status. Not playable in 1805.

Message from France:
Danes try to marry off the queens sister to the Prussian king's hunchback brother turning them neutral.

This can be stopped in only 2 ways generally and only 1 way in this case.

If anyone has Age of Metternich (5) and wants to play it. This will cancel the event.

The other way is if the ally's patron (England in this case) can pay the 9 CP to move the marker back. But England only has one card left and this requires having a + card in order to play 2 cards for 9CP.

Prussia turning neutral will send all Prussians not in a home or associate duchy to regroup.

Home duchies all return to Prussian control, but associate duchies don't.

I'll wait to hear from everyone before moving France.
575 12/27/2019 6:49:00 PM 1809-1810 France Spain: Play Strategy card as Operations #58: 2 / Bypass Stronghold
You may use two CPs to move your Formations past an enemy Fortress without stopping or Attrition subject to normal battle and interception requirements.

574 12/27/2019 6:47:00 PM 1809-1810 France France: Play Strategy card as Operations #5: 4 / Serbian Revolt
Turkish Formations may not exit Turkey while this event is in play. Those outside Turkey Regroup. Any unspent odd CP of a Turkish Neutral build is used to attempt to end this Foreign War instead of placing the +1 CP marker. The +1 CP marker, if already in play, is removed. Add #1 to all attempts to end Turkish Foreign Wars (but not the Serbian Revolt) while this event is in play.
