Dave asked me to roll the dice. Please note Dave that we roll using ACTs, not Vassal - I thought you might be thinking otherwise given your text message. The latter is only used to keep track of the game board, all else (cards, dice rolling etc) we use ACTs.
I note that the combat odds are 10:1 where the result is AV (Automatic Victory?) so no need to roll. 1 Volsci rearguard sacrificed and the rest of the cowards hide behind their walls. The siege begins...

Stole this from another Sword of Rome game being played on ACTs:
the process for all decisions of non player powers is lowest VP then tie breaker but certain powers may never decide for certain ones (Rome never decides for Volsci no matter her VP, Greeks never decide for Carthage, and Gauls canít for T-Gaul).
The last caveat is that anyone allied with those powers on the list are also removed from being able to decide for the nonís so long as they are allied
So it is David ie Gaul.
Note once combat is announced all non-active players ie everyone else other than Rome has the opportunity to play response cards. Includes allies too, without affecting the alliance absence of impact on goodwill aside. Once everyone else has confirmed that no response card will be played then combat may proceed. Generally defender rolls the dice after confirming odds supplied by attacker are correct.
Lastly when moving unit adjacent to a non allied unit, must provide the non-active player the opportunity to intercept.

Since Rome is attacking the Volsci another player needs to make their decisions. I suggest the Greeks?
As for the Samnites. Thanks for the offer but better keep options open so just an alliance with the Etruscans. Will have to channel my inner schizophrenic...

Message from Roman:
All, play for ops. Activate Camillus, march his 5 CU to Rome, pick up 5 CU and march the lot to Antium. Not sure exactly what happens next but will very shortly find out.
As for Alliance I'd not clocked the difference between Etruscan and samnites, but i was doing an aliance with Tim, so if you are content for Samnium too then so am I.

I like your '2' options Bindu! Ha ha!
Yes of course let the Gauls re deal their cards. Happened to all of us at some stage.
BTW Dave don't listen to the Greek propaganda about a Roman/Etruscan temporary alliance being 'against' Gaul! Utter nonsense! As you can see from the Etruscan turn they are purely defensive and peace loving.... ;-)

Looks like our erstwhile Gaulish friend did not like his hand and ended the turn which immediately resulted in his hand being discarded.
We have 2 options I think.
1/ Allow him to draw again with a reshuffled deck,
2/ Force him to use the cards he has drawn but with everyone knowing what is in his hand
3/ Impose some other kind of penalty.
While ordinarily I would be inclined for 2 or 3,
given that this is David's first time using ACTs I am inclined to provide an element of mercy and suggest 1.
Given the Romano-Etrsucan alliance has formed against him, I will await the opinions of his erstwhile foes before giving him the all clear to proceed.

Message from Etruscan-Samnite:
Will start conservative.
Romans and Etruscans are allied for this turn.
Play this card to increase loyalty one each in the two Etruscan walled cities (Pisae and Tarquinni).
I will place the Vassal file in dropbox when I get access to it (don't have it yet) and email it to Michael. I can't find any player control (PC) markers. Anyone know where they are located?

Every ready, draw your cards and then Gaul (David) decides who goes first in the first turn.
Clockwise order is
Gaul, Etruscan-Samnite, Greek & Rome
Therefore for example if Dave picks Greek to go first, the order will be:
4) Etruscan-Samnite etc
PS First comes the Alliance declaration Phase and remember alliances last for the entire turn.
