167 1/9/2020 8:09:00 PM Spring 1862 Confederate Message Thanks to you Richard. You helped restore my interest in the game and playing online in general.

As for the fires, I was a professional firefighter so I'm well prepared - and well insured.

The sharks? I'm still at a bit of a loss as to how to go about the Union. What you've taught me is SP numbers must be maintained in the East. Too few becomes a big target and big problem for the Union. Perhaps the best lesson you taught me was naval invasions and the amphib modifier. In our first game that gave me the heebie jeebies! With the modifier the Union has an "attack at will" option they lack on land. An option that can go a lot of places, and is diabolically difficult to defend against.

But you've hit the nail on the head, just as we've discussed before. The best strategies and laid out plans are worthless without a fair distribution of enabling cards and some decent dice when required. Here's hoping.

God Bless.
166 1/9/2020 7:41:00 PM Spring 1862 Union Message Eric,
Thank you very much for the kinds words about my wife...comforting...

Wish I could do somethin for ya with those fires! Hope they stay far away from you and your family.

Anytime you are ready for another game, please give me a shout. You are an excellent player and I think you will give those "sharks" a "run for their money" in the tourny. Good luck and roll bones well!
165 1/7/2020 1:42:00 AM Spring 1862 Confederate Message Good enough!

Unlike me to leave a yawning gap like that. Not thinking about it and having two very similiar games going at the same time probably didn't help. Living on a farm surrounded by fires for days now has been rather distracting. I should've taken a leaf out of your book and put it to one side.

I've signed up for the Pbem thing again against the sharks. It starts within days so this is a good time to fall on my sword.

Don't apologise for the delays. You and your wife were never far from my thoughts. I hope there has been some improvement or if that's not possible, that she has been comfortable.

Eric
164 1/7/2020 12:53:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #103: 3 / Seven Days/Chattanooga
Either player may move 2 SPs using Strategic Movement from the same space using rail connections only (10 space maximum) to the same space with a General who is then activated and must attempt to enter a space with at least one or more enemy SPs or fort. OR play this card as an automatic 2 space interception. Intervening space must be friendly controlled and free of enemy SPs. The intervening space may be the one just exited by the moving enemy force. No Generals or SPs may be picked up or dropped off during the intercept.

137 12/16/2019 2:39:00 AM Fall 1861 Confederate Message I can live with the SW stuff. There was a ruling on sequences during the last Pbem tournament that allowed players to sequence the political phase as they wished but I'm more comfortable with a stricter sequence.
136 12/16/2019 1:14:00 AM Fall 1861 Union Message Will check your map summary tomorrow...not sure how much time with the game tomorrow, wife coming home from hospital and she is not in good shape.

For the end of the turn stuff...the sequence of Raids & state control come before Emancy & WW...so need to take them in that sequence.

SW changes:

USA 100- => -5 Raid PA = 95-, then-5 war weary to 90- (no change)

129 12/15/2019 10:01:00 PM Fall 1861 Confederate Message You gotta let Columbus go for the time being. Baltimore is perhaps a bigger priority?

127 12/15/2019 9:30:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Message WOW, I really screwed the pooch on that last move...gotta concentrate better!

OK, re-do of 2nd part:

124 12/15/2019 9:23:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Message Oh, yeah, I missed that one too...yep no roll.

OK, 2nd part...no exactly what I'd like to be doin, but gotta do what I can!

Halleck takes his 1SP to Bowling Green (p/u 2SPs = n3), then back to Dover then to McKenzie, then to Columbus to elim fort...drops 1SP there, then to Humboldt drop 1 and end in Memphis.
123 12/15/2019 7:48:00 PM Fall 1861 Confederate Message I've been lucky as with the dice this turn. Everytime there has been any chance of losing more than 1 SP = nope, just the 1.

Acting Minister of War R.E.Lee's radical "strip the Confederacy" plan has done better than expected under JJ's leadership.
122 12/15/2019 7:45:00 PM Fall 1861 Confederate Message You want the worst part? He survives because you were oos... no roll.
121 12/15/2019 7:31:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Message Nice bone rollin! First time I have ever seen that result...much to my chagrin.

Result is a 1*/2 CSA win!!

AoCumb n2 retreats to Paducah & looses another SP, but p/u 3 so n4 in Paducah.

120 12/15/2019 7:21:00 PM Fall 1861 Confederate Message You're getting the right cards, but aweful dice!
119 12/15/2019 7:16:00 PM Fall 1861 Confederate Message What you did made perfect sense - allowed enough movement to get to Memphis and burn it and meant ONLY a Rebel 10 could defeat the attack.
