Relearning many of the rules that deal with the end game is why I wanted to play this out. Most of the time my games do not make it this far and you tend to overlook or forget your options for that part of the game when you skip it. Besides...this is a tournament game and deserves to go to the bitter end.

RESHUFFLE: If played as an OC or discarded, place this card back in the deck and reshuffle the deck at the end of the game turn. 622 4/1/2020 5:01:00 PM Jan-Apr 1945 Japanese Message Flipped the division and the Marine brigade for 10 hits. Looks like you have enough units on the board for your replacements so no need to pull any from the eliminated tray.

Japanese have no reinforcements and only a single division remaining in China. A re-read of 11.23 indicates the I could use that replacement point, although it would almost certainly be bombed off the board when the allies attack.

Otherwise there is nothing for the Japanese to do but wait for Strategic bombing to see if the 1% chance of 99 occurs. I have no idea what 4 cards I could draw that might hold back the allied assault, but we shall see.

613 4/1/2020 10:20:00 AM Jan-Apr 1945 Japanese Message You sent me to the rule book, since I have not looked at the supply rules for Japan in quite some time. I was under the impression that the Japanese Home Islands can only serve as an ultimate supply source if they can trace an LOC to a resource hex...usually Seoul. I do not see that restriction in the latest version of the rules. Too many games, too many rules.

So a Japanese HQ on the Home islands is in supply as each city is an ultimate supply source. It is 4MP from Kure to Nagoya, so the [18th army] is able to activate. Let's go ahead and move it into Kyoto in reaction as it would just be bombed into oblivion when Nagoya is attacked anyway.
612 4/1/2020 9:53:00 AM Jan-Apr 1945 Allies Message Actually, with the overland logistical range rule, I don't think you can activate a ground unit because there is not supply eligible port.

588 3/30/2020 4:25:00 PM Jan-Apr 1945 Japanese Message That attack had a 9% chance of success, but there really were no other options and the rewards for victory were too much to pass up. The icing on the cake would have been to achieve surprise and seen the bulk of the USN fleet in Tokyo destroyed as the only port within a 10 hex range for ENM was Ulithi with room for two divisions.

Still going to need a lot of help from the die roll Gods, as I am not likely to have supply for conducting operations very long. Still, 3 US army corps and 3 USN Marine divisions eliminated with the last two cards gives the Japanese some hope.

Activation: South or South Seas HQs only. Logistic Value: 5 Conditions: Only air and ground units may be activated. Bonus: Neither the HQ nor the units being activated need to be in supply in order to be activated, but must be within HQ activation range.

General Adachi! Bring the troops home!
Although I can activate and move OOS units, I still must respect unneutralized allied air ZoIs.

Activate South HQ: Logistics 5+1+1(Kwai)=7 units
1. 8th AD Palembang
2. [5th AD] Kuantan
3. [21st AD] Tarakan
4-5. [1st AD] and [15th xxxx] Saigon
6-7. Kor xxxx and 19th xxxx Rangoon using overland command path.

[5th AD] Kuantan-Bangkok-Rangoon.
[1st AD] Saigon-Hanoi-Swatow-Okinawa
[21st AF] Tarakan-2812-Okinawa-Kure

These air unit moves now connect the Home Islands to a Resource space. South HQ is in supply for the following move, which is required for the [5th AD] air ZoI allowing the SGT out of Rangoon.

[15th xxxx] Saigon SGT to Sasebo
Korean xxxx Rangoon SGT to Seoul

555 3/28/2020 7:37:00 PM Sep-Dec 1944 Japanese Play Future Offensive card as Event #76: 2 / Operation Tsurugi: Japan Attacks a B29 Base with Giretsu Airborne unit
Activation: Any HQ Logistics Value: 1 Conditions: Any air or naval units may be activated, but only one brigade size ground unit may be activated. Bonus: If the Allied player has a B29 LRB unit within 8 hexes of Tokyo (3706) or in the China Air units box, the Japanese player rolls a die. On a die roll of: 0-4: Lose one B29 Air step* 5-9: No Effect *Japanese choice Remove from play if used as an event.

OC: 4 EC: 6

Message from Japanese:
Nothing to activate, and as far as I can tell a one step loss to a B29 is useless unless it is already reduced one step. Eliminated B29 units that return during the replacement step may not bomb, but reduced B29s that take a replacement step to full strength bomb at full strength.

So, no die roll. Done. Back to you.

There we go. I like to stay to the end of the movie and all the way to the end of the credits!

No need for an intel roll since there is no air/naval combat. US forces will surely kill the defending 12-12, so here is the Japanese ground combat roll with 12 factors and +3drm
