454 3/28/2020 9:03:00 PM Sep-Dec 1943 Japanese Message Yes, my hands were stacked for sure. Also was holding worker strikes in FO to cancel an SEAC activation. Thanks for the good game!
453 3/28/2020 4:31:00 PM Sep-Dec 1943 Allies Message Congrats on an superbly played game, Joshua.

I have two OC-1 cards left, which you've probably deduced. I have a shot at taking Amboina and making PoW, and occupying Kavieng to prevent you from doing so to deny me conquest of all the Mandates. Once I opened this hand, it was clear that I couldn't make enough progress in the CBI to reset the India clock, and my only hope was to hold on for one more hand. Perhaps I should have used the Hump for OPs, but I'm not sure what good that would have done.

The ACTS text is accurate for the Hurley china card by the way. In fact it appears that, unnoticed by me, that all the China events in the 2nd Edition now allow the cards to move the China marker into the Collapse box. My ignorance made no difference here, thankfully, or I'd feel obligated to kick my own ass for willful ignorance.

I really enjoyed the challenges in this game, and I believe that Japanese concentration on the CBI is probably their strongest strategy now that their logistics capability has been bucked up. That's the strategy I was planning
to use if I ended up as the Japanese. I doubt I could have done as well as you did with it.

I'll leave it to you to make the official notification to the Chris'es. I expect you to go on and win the tournament so that I can claim that I lost to the champion!

If you'd ever like to play just for grins, please feel free to contact me.

I'm going to play this for the Event.

As I read the rules, because I control no bases in N. India, the HUMP is not active. Should I manage to get control of a hex, then the HUMP would become immediately active (until I lost it again).

Is that how you understand it?

Regardless, I'm not sending a file along for this one. If you send a file, you can put the HUMP marker on the TRT, but it won't change the China status.

Playing to send ANZAC to the Turn Record Track, Turn 7

I really need the extra PW point, but you're on a streak of getting the cards you need and with another China offensive due, I dare not give you the card that puts victory there in your basket.

Playing this event would just offset my failure to make PoW. Plus, the difference between having 1 and 2 PW points, seems pretty small at this time. Virtually all the ways you can win will give you two points. I might be able to eck out making two more PoW hexes, but it's not clear I could hold them, and as I said, keeping the PW at 2 doesn't really help me any.

I considered putting into the FOQ, and that I almost did, but I think reopening the CBI front with the full span of Allied capabilities gives me my best chance...

375 3/9/2020 10:59:00 AM May-Aug 1943 Allies Message I'm not sure where you're living (and I am curious), but here in Texas, rape is illegal!

Wow, what a great card at a great time, and you're too good of a player to fail to seize the opportunity. I had mentally flipped a coin at whether to attack Baka or Guadalcanal as my first attack, if I'd gone for the harder G'canal, Zuiho and at least one of the BB's would have missed reacting. So, I contributed, but at least not negligently (IMO).

I couldn't assign hits last evening because I couldn't keep from thinking about the strategic ramifications. This might have nailed down your N.India victories as it's going to be very hard to be active enough to force you to shift your strategic reserves to the Pacific this turn, and probably the next!

Still, I'm having too much fun with this challenging situation to even consider resigning, so no worries there!

P.S. Paul Gaberson and I are friends and had a great get together at CSW Expo this weekend. He's a big fan of your skills as well. He's following along on this game because his opponent has fallen off the edge of the world. I'm sure he's chortling over this turn of events as well!
374 3/8/2020 10:02:00 PM May-Aug 1943 Japanese Message so, 40 factors to me, you have options

I do 94 attack, with 5 air capable units, thus shooting down all 4 of your air units for 80 steps, flipping CV Enterprise with 12, then finishing that off with the sub card.

I will wait for you to apply your hits before I do my PBM.
