Sorry to hear about your illness, Tim. I hope you are well recovered.
If you want to continue we could try to find a 3rd player.

Not sure I can say much about the game. It does seem like the Russian player is an afterthought or a spectator. Partisans are an interesting mechanic but I don't think their ability to pop anywhere compensate for the fact that they hit on G1. Honestly, with the same production point, the opponent can crank a proper Militia or even Infantry unit which will statistically outlast the Partisans every time.
But I don't want to fall into the trap of extrapolating without proper game experience, it might be that at some point, the US and the Japs are distracted by the war at sea and they neglect the main land enough that the Soviets can realistically attack.

Terribly sorry for delay on my end too. I caught a bug this weekend and slept for the better part of two days. Could not keep my eyes open. Headache, sick stomach, completely exhausted. Then last night it just lifted and disappeared.
I have no problem with dropping this either . I love the system but PbeM is tedious at best.

That was the reason I was looking for on-line vassal play over the Christmas Holidays. PBEM of C&C (or T&T) just takes too long. I proposed some ideas to Craig to speed up pbem, but none of my ideas were very good.
I understand that you would withdraw. But, please write up your thoughts on the game first and send them to Craig (via me, or directly).
I wonder if we could still get a live vassal session in some time...
|56||2/16/2020 3:40:00 PM||Turn 1||Soviet Marco||Message||
Yeah, honestly, I don't see how we can make it out of this game. The Seasons will take as much time once we go to war, what with revealing blocks, etc. T&T must be as painful to PbEM I guess. My recent predictions say we should reach 1945 by the time the 2nd edition of C&C comes out, LOL
I'm ready to call it quits or maybe your son can take my spot Jim? I feel less bad now that I know you have 3-4 other games going. ;)

Japs up ?
|54||2/14/2020 2:52:00 AM||Turn 1||USA Jim||Message||
The BritEmpire does seem like the US in T&T. However, I'm not so sure. The US has plenty of resources and so the additional resource bump of the Brits doesn't really help that much. (Of course, later in the game it does, but the Brits will be in the game by then automatically.)
I actually wonder if they are a bit more of a nuisance for the US. The Brit units are weak, the area is large and hard to defend; and gives more strategic choices for the Japs (or Soviets) to gain.

Played a 3rd Inner Mongolia, 3 cards left. Tim, if you have a Brit Empire card, it might be a good idea, they look like the US in T&T.

Sorry for not writing. Is Us up or me?
|48||2/11/2020 11:56:00 PM||Turn 1||USA Jim||Message||
Well... without Tim writing in this log, it is unclear.
It looks like I was skipped last round and I wanted to enter the log that I passed.
However, I am not necessarily passing after the Japs.

Ah ha ! You guys are faking me out, and doing your turn without writing here...
I play a card for the Brit Empire.
I have 7 cards left.
|37||2/3/2020 12:45:00 AM||Turn 1||USA Jim||Message||
Thanks Marco !
Looks like that rule changed again; including the title (Chiang Kai Shek... I didn't understand the reason for giving the US an advantage in China rule before, now I do).
This applies only for wildcards. (and as that is what I just played, it is timely.)
|36||2/2/2020 10:40:00 PM||Turn 1||Soviet Marco||Message||
Over to the Japs, I have 7 cards left. Adding a Partisan in Jerhol. BTW Jim, can't find the rule reference that says you only need 2 Influence to control a Chinese province. 8.31 says a Wildcard allows you to place 2 Influence instead of 1 but that's not quite the same thing. Anyway, Japs are up.

I was just asking, I once had 8 PbEM games going and I was strictly monitoring DB, never had the bad experience you mentioned. I'm perfectly fine using ACTS everytime. Speaking of which, you're up. ;)
|32||1/31/2020 3:15:00 AM||Turn 1||USA Jim||Message||
Is there a reason that is preferable?
I regularly have a lot of problems with Dropbox. It doesn't seem to update files even when I refresh it; and often have to close the window and reload.
On the other hand, ACTS sends an email and I know something happened.
I have 5 games of playtest C&C running, and with unreliable (to me) Dropbox, looking in each of those and being sure that a file has been deposited is a pain.
|31||1/30/2020 7:03:00 PM||Turn 1||Soviet Marco||Message||
Are we okay monitoring Dropbox for card plays and using ACTS only for dice rolling and general messages?

9 cards remaining.

I don't have any problem continuing to play, but first remind me how many cards each of you have left, thanks.
|27||1/28/2020 8:23:00 PM||Turn 1||Soviet Marco||Message||
Personally, I'm willing to let the US go down to 9 cards. There is a Vassal module fluke where we can see the Investment card number even though it is face down, which could spoil a few surprises once we get a hang of the game. ;)

2 cards to my secret vault (reducing hand size to 7)
1 card for Tsingtao Dip
1 card for Canton Dip
1 card for Peiping Dip
2 cards for Vietnam Dip
I have 12 cards left

Also, putting this out there for the legacy, this limitation on Chinese builds really needs to be mentioned in the setup section. We both missed it initially.
|23||1/25/2020 7:16:00 PM||Turn 1||Soviet Marco||Message||
I fixed my build in China as well and drew the 2 bonus action cards granted by the RedChi. I now have 8 action cards + 1 Investment card in hand. I'm happy to pass for a few cards, not sure what the sweet spot is. Maybe until the US is down to like 12 cards?
|22||1/25/2020 1:34:00 PM||Turn 1||USA Jim||Message||
I played my Govt phase, and drew 6 Inv Cards (my production is 6).
I played 3 cards to increase my Industry by 1.
I have 19 cards remaining. (16 at start, drew 6, played 3; leaving 19).
Soviets are up for the next play.
However, if you wish, you can all pass until I am down to my max Hand Size. I will play 11 cards to get down to that. Let me know.
|21||1/25/2020 12:18:00 PM||Turn 1||USA Jim||Message||
I was just re-reading 16.12 (it changed not too long ago), and missed that "Regular" units cannot be Setup and/or built in 1936.
So, I need to change my build in China. And, the Soviets should verify that his Chinese units are only militia.

Oops. My bad. I was waiting for you guys to make your first move... and you did ! Sorry !
(Put something in this log file next time to clarify you made the update, so it gets through my brain.)
Also, please write in the log file how many cards you have remaining.

Let me check with Craig on sharing the .vmod. I'm not sure...

By the way Jim, you can be thankful that Tim's sons are not playing, they are in a league of their own, think WBC-caliber.
You kinda confirm my feelings about the Russians and that's the thing I will be watching during this playtest. T&T is clearly a 3-player game but I think it's a gamble to include the Russians in the Pacific theater. I can't see myself doing anything more than upgrading my Industry for the first few years and by the time I'll be ready to build troops, it might be too late. We'll see!
|12||1/21/2020 11:22:00 AM||Turn 1||Japs Tim||Message||
Agree on everything you said.
Jim, I have asked my sons if they would be willing to playtest alongside this match. They are both big fans of T&T Europe. Are you ok with me sending them the mod and rules?
|11||1/21/2020 12:19:00 AM||Turn 1||USA Jim||Message||
I drew my cards; an amazing 16!
Your idea of adding info after the log file number is good. I added more than just a "J" (for Jim) because I might confuse that with Japs. Any amount of text can be added after the log number, and the sequence still stays, so it would be good to add text to indicate what the file contains.
Over to Soviets.
I have 16 cards. (to get into the habit of always stating the number of cards held).
|10||1/21/2020 12:06:00 AM||Turn 1||USA Jim||Message||
We are ready to start. For some of the questions:
I haven't found any way to determine the card count. So, I ask every player to always announce their own card count every time they do anything.
The Peace Dividends can be placed near your production track. That way we can double-check that you have the right number of them after a couple of turns.
In your "hand", you can push the "buttons" to draw a card.
And, yes, then you have to move them out of the way to draw more.
And, yes, you may start with your whopping production. (In this game, it seems like the production numbers are all small, for all that needs to be done. However, the Soviets just don't have that much to do, unfortunately. Sometimes this seems almost like a 2-player game.)
I need to draw my initial cards, so I will do that now.
|9||1/20/2020 8:27:00 PM||Turn 1||Soviet Marco||Message||
Tim, unless you want an extra challenge, you might want to hide your blocks. You can do it individually or there's a button to flip them all at once.
A few precisions/question :
Peace dividends are hidden by default so they can just be drawn near your Production track.
Is there a way to know how many cards players are holding? That's pretty important and I see no way to know it in the mod.
There also seems to be no easy way to draw extra cards other than dragging them manually to the hand window. It's probably a concern only for the first turn but I'm likely to buy a few Investment so am I supposed to just slot them beloew the action cards?
So if I understand correctly, I would be first to spend a whopping 4 Production points, correct?
|8||1/20/2020 6:40:00 PM||Turn 1||Japs Tim||Message||
Ok, Did my setup in one log file. Drew my cards in a separate one. Ready to roll as there are not many rules changes and those that are there affect more the Russians and Americans, i.e China and Partisans.
|7||1/19/2020 5:18:00 PM||Turn 1||Soviet Marco||Message||
Tim, the rules and the mod are in the Dropbox folder which Jim should have given you access to. You seem to be using a different address for ACTS so just to be clear, email@example.com is your DB email.
