74 4/24/2020 6:09:00 PM Turn 2 England Message WJE is whack.

It's only GT2, and if we did the end-of-game-GT10 victory die roll thing already, there's a good chance ENG would win. Of course, we have another 8 turns to look forward to of ENG crapping over SP ports one-by-one, with the added benefit that ENG is currently outproducing SP by 2-1. The good news for SP is that ENG will run out of stuff to buy in a few turns....

73 4/24/2020 6:06:00 PM Turn 2 England Message >>> Yay - combat in Port Royal. Have to run this later.

I'm not sure you've thought this one through.
Best case scenario here for you in any land combat that happens after naval combat is that SP will be rolling ZERO die.
In any event, I'm fairly confident that SP will lose the naval combat too....

59 4/23/2020 6:35:00 PM Turn 2 England Message I just realized that when I moved my Royal Navy deathstar into 3419 I should've given your stack in 3319 the opportunity to intercept. Seeing how this would've been an astonishingly dumb move on your part, I just skipped by that, and moved onto my stack trying to intercept you (and then missed)

Message from England:
Santo Domingo battle, status of elim ENG supplies unit

24 4/21/2020 12:50:00 AM Turn 1 England Message Santo Domingo result
SP scores 1 hit (rolled a 2, needed 1-3 to hit)
Technically I scored 2 hits (again, see explanation in 9.2 (4)), but of course I only needed 1 hit.
SP soldiers-3 is eliminated, ENG takes a hit on the Supplies counter (it's a land unit, so why not let them take one for the team?)
ENG occupies Santo Domingo with Kent, Orford, Bomb ship, frigates +2/2 cannons, soldiers-2. ENG gains 5 WF immediately, and WF production also goes up 5.

SP Soldiers-3 is permanently eliminated (it was a starting counter, and doesn't have a WF cost on the back, see 9.3)
ENG supply unit has a WF cost of 1 on the back, and is eligible to be returned to the ENG force poll, if I roll > 1 (see 9.3). drc....

Land battle for Santo Domingo

22 4/21/2020 12:42:00 AM Turn 1 England Message >>> 3919 St. Kitts > 3318 Santo Domingo
Kent tr soldiers-2
Orford tr supplies
Bomb ship tr cannons +2/2
Frigate

* There's no naval battle, as there are no SP naval units in Santo Domingo.
Incidentally, if there were, I think I'd have to roll an interception roll into 3318 from 3319 to force battle - I can't just move into 3318 and automatically force battle.
Also, I don't think I could've used my Cannons unit in a naval battle, although if you'd had Cannons, you could've used them.
On to the land battle, we roll simultaneously.
SP roll 1 die, and will score a hit on land units on a 1-3.
I roll 2 die for land units (soldiers-2, and the Bomb ship can conduct land combat as if it was a land counter, 11.1). Supplies are land counters, but can't roll a dice (but can take losses). I get +8 die for Kent, Orford, and Cannons. But I get -5 die for the Santo Domingo 5 seaport - see 9.2 (3). So, overall, a total of 5 die for ENG. Figuring out the # of hits for ENG is a bit unusual, see 9.2 (4), but as SP only has 1 land unit, ENG only needs to roll one 3 or less to score a hit (= hit value of the Bomb sip - one that I don't need to assign specific die rolls to any of the attacking land units)

Of course, this is how I see everything! Maybe you see things differently. However, I'm going to go ahead and roll anyway...
21 4/21/2020 12:30:00 AM Turn 1 England Message On to the Combat phase.

I make it that ENG automatically capture Tortuga, as there are no naval or land units present. ENG gain 3 WF immediately, and add 3 WF production (I'll do this later). Presumably, if the SP, try and attack Tortuga, ENG gets the advantage of the seaport 3 value.

20 4/21/2020 12:26:00 AM Turn 1 England Message >>> Looks good to me except are you sure French ports are friendly?

FR ports aren't friendly, neither are the Dutch - they're neutral. However, like all unoccupied seaports, you can just waltz right in and grab 'em.

It could be laid out more explicitly in the rules, but see 1st sentence of 3.4, referring to capture of an enemy or foreign (i.e. FR or DU) seaport, and also the last note of 5.0, referring to the capture of non-SP seaports by the ENG player.

Capture of FR or DU seaports affects War Funds, and the War of AU Succession die roll.

I think it's reasonably clear that's how they're handled - why else would they be in the game?

But, a Q to get his started - both sides start the game with war funds (I've input them into Accumulated War Funds). ENG buys units during set-up, and after I'm done, SPN gets to buy units during set-up.

However, each side gets War Funds Production in each game turn - will we get these War funds Production points in turn 1? I *think* that maybe we do? i.e. after the initial set-up purchases, we'll move into the Sequence of Play, with step 6.1?
