232 5/25/2020 11:15:00 AM Summer 1862 Confederate Message Hopefully for CSA it’s not an option (rule 10.31).

The Union situation is not good at all effectively, but there is a small chance to recover.
I understand if you want to stop now, if I were Union I could choose to stop too. The game should be a pleasure.
I accept your resignation. Thanks for the game.

I’ll give you my opinion of your play during this game. You did two big mistake.
The biggest: During summer 61 SM, you moved only 4sp and let a lot of sp unused (Indianapolis, Springfield,…). You should have moved them to east front to reinforce your defense line. Union has the advantage to move 15 sp during SM, you should use it.

During fall 61 SM phase, you should have reinforce AoP as much as possible and then use it to destroy AoNV. In this case I think you could have use only 2 movement of your major campaign event. Then you would have an opportunity to attack elsewhere, open another front.
As in chess, initiative is a key for victory. Impose your tempo when you can.

More generally:
- you let east front to undefended. Union strategy is to control this part of the board and attack elsewhere when possible, until Grant arrive. So CSA could not focus his troops and generals.
- you didn’t take advantage of numerous Union troops. You should concentrate it during Strategic movement phase, so even if CSA player win the battle he would stop his move (rule 7.32: If the winner was the attacker and began the battle twice the strength or more of the loser, the winner can continue his movement).

I hope this will help you a little.
231 5/25/2020 9:38:00 AM Summer 1862 Union Message I usually play with that, but I thought it was an option.

Do you honestly think that I can come back from this? My inclination is to resign at this point. The two extra SP that I got over you is hardly going to be enough, IMHO.

Assuming you agree with my assessment, could you please advise me of my two largest mistakes. (Clearly there were many).

If you want me to continue, I will. But my morale sucks. LOL

You play very very well.

177 5/17/2020 5:30:00 PM Summer 1862 Confederate Message Burnside start battle in Baltimore with 6sp.
He lost 1sp (6->5)
So Burnside moved to W-DC with 5sp (4infantry sp + Pleasonton brigade)
He dropped Pleasonton brigade (5->4)

USA loses 1 on CSA's roll of one

CSA loses 2 on USA's roll of 2+4 = 6

USA may continue

In DC Burnside will drop Pleasonton and pick up 2 SPs so:

DC n2 Rosencrans Pleasonton // Burnside n6

Burnside will then attack Frederick

If I end my move with 3sp and 6 general, during attrition phase AoT would lose 1sp (3->2), so 1 general in excess. Then Union choose 1 general to send to TT. He would come back into play during next general placement phase.

Fort Monroe n1

Do you have that all as CSA too?

If you give me that, I also have DC as 3 SPs (which I'm bribing you to say you can keep that extra SP. LOL) with Butler and the Fort.
163 5/15/2020 6:36:00 PM Summer 1862 Union Message OK Got it.
For the record, if an Army drops off 6 SPs in one hex (down to 1 SP) and move to an adjacent hex with 6 SPS (now back to 7 SP), you don't have to worry about losing any Generals, assuming you were good in the first hex. Just making sure we are on the same page. :-)

That said, my reinforcements are

4 SPs from Cincinatti n2 to Harper's Ferry n4
4 SPs from Cairo n2 to Wilmington DE n4
1 SP from Fort Monroe n1 Butler to DC n3 Rosencrans
1 SP from Forts St. Philip/Jackson n0 to DC n4 Rosencrans

Praying you don't draw Galveston this turn!!!

162 5/15/2020 6:42:00 AM Summer 1862 Confederate Message Smith was with AoNV and sent to TT when AoNV was destroyed.
Actually, with AoT I have 5 generals: Lee, Wheeler, J.Johnston, Van Dorn and Price.
161 5/15/2020 12:09:00 AM Summer 1862 Union Message The AoT currently has 6 Generals (Smith Price VanDorn AJohnston Wheeler Lee) and 2 SP .... I think you are one over.

Also, when you dropped the SP in Frederick, you would have had only 1 SP (per your log) ... which means you would have lost a 2nd General as well, no?

That 2nd one is more nebulous to me.

If you agree with that, then I choose Price and VanDorn for you to lose. I think it won't matter if you RR folks into the AoNoVa.....more curious about what the rule actually is, as it might matter later.
