172 5/22/2020 10:48:00 PM Fall 1862 Confederate Message You played fine, and I enjoyed our games!

Happy to play again some time, though I would also enjoy a break in the short-term.

171 5/22/2020 9:59:00 PM Fall 1862 Union Message Hi Randy!

Although I wanted to go for the fifth turn (in fact, that was my purpose at the end of the last turn), at present I am absolutely certain that there is nothing to do, so the Union surrenders again. Well played!

Thank you for playing again with me, and sorry for another poor game. I have enjoyed it a lot, but I fear it may have been boring for you. (At least, that is my feeling.)

And, even though I would like to play another time with you, I think it would be better to wait until my play has improved. (Anyhow, if you thought otherwise, count on me for playing whenever you wanted.)

156 5/21/2020 3:12:00 PM Fall 1862 Union Message I know those rules, and you cannot do that.
CSA can combine naval and overland movement to an army, ... but ONLY naval movements legal for the CSA (i.e., the movement from a coastal fort to its associated port).

136 5/17/2020 12:29:00 AM Spring 1862 Confederate Message I think if you want to intercept into Pittsburgh that you make it automatically based on the previous die roll. (I did my best not to consider that knowledge when putting my move together in order to be as fair as possible.)
135 5/16/2020 10:20:00 PM Spring 1862 Union Message Hi Randy, I have been reading you messages.

Since an interception roll was already carried out, I would have expected a battle at Grafton.

The alternative is to maintain the sucessful interception roll at Pittsburg (against the movement of your AoT), but I am not sure this is a better alternative for you.

Let me know what you think on this.

101 5/11/2020 11:20:00 PM Spring 1862 Confederate Message It's hard to say exactly where the line is (impossible, really, as what you can accomplish depends a lot on your cards). I just know that in both games we have played I have been quite happy to ignore DC while you lose troops to attrition, and that you continued to improve DC's defenses after I had already concluded that I should ignore it.

(Also: If you're going to put that many troops in the east, you need to be putting pressure on Richmond and forcing *me* to play defense. I have gotten away with having just like 6-10 sp in the area ... )
100 5/11/2020 11:14:00 PM Spring 1862 Confederate Message I agree that's a risk ... it's all a question of making the most of your resources (cards/moves/SP). In the long run whoever has the most troops is going to win, so losing 2 per turn to attrition there (plus 1 to AoP in DC) is just not a cost you can keep paying, in my opinion. (However, to be fair, I usually have a very large AoP losing 2sp per turn, but ideally that's it for attrition for me.)

If you can have AoP live in Frederick that helps a lot. It guards Frederick and gives you an intercept roll on Harper's Ferry. Once you have a cav and thus a 50% intercept chance the south is going to be hesitant to attack into the risk of an AoP intercept. (And even the threat of a 1 in 6 is a little scary.) If you can get it into Manassas then even better.

You're not wrong about the risk ... if that's the softest spot in your defense I will attack it, for sure. But my real point is that you should guard the other ways into the other parts of the north almost as much as the one that leads to DC.

97 5/11/2020 10:22:00 PM Spring 1862 Union Message In regard to your comments, do not you think that only 2 SPs at HF/Frederick is too risky for the USA? An AoNV (n10) might go against one of them (as the last action) and surround W-DC and/or raid PA. Do not you agree on this?

96 5/11/2020 10:21:00 PM Spring 1862 Union Message First, I am happy to be playing with such a good player. (I knew nothing about your performance at WBC.)

Second, thank you for your comments and suggestions, I really appreciate them.

I love playing this game, but for me it is hard to find good players here at Spain in order to improve my play, so any feedback is welcome.

93 5/11/2020 5:16:00 PM Spring 1862 Confederate Message In addition to SR you have taken multiple moves each time we played of the form "shuffle sp around between Frederck, Harper's Ferry, DC, and Baltimore" ... every time you've done that I feel like you've just discarded a card for no effect because your defenses were already good enough there that I wasn't interested in attacking you anyway. (Personally, other than AoP, I don't like to have more than 2sp in those locations because I don't like bleeding sp away to attrition.)
92 5/11/2020 5:12:00 PM Spring 1862 Confederate Message For whatever it's worth I think you are spending too many moves on defending against a frontal assault on DC and you have been leaving yourself vulnerable elsewhere. My strategy as the South, since I get to SR second, is to move my troops to wherever I perceive the hole in your defenses to be. This game you were super light in the West, I thought. All those 3's did let you make some good naval progress, so the pressure is on for me to win quickly, but I do think I can ...
91 5/11/2020 5:05:00 PM Spring 1862 Union Message I don't know if I'm much worse at this game than I thought, or if it's all your credit, ... but in our two games things have gone really bad for me :D
