621 6/21/2020 4:07:00 PM Sep-Dec 1944 Japanese Play Strategy card as Event #81: 2 / Kamikaze Attack
Play prior to one battle of the Offensive that is within 11 hexes of Tokyo (3706) and within extended range of a Japanese air unit. The Japanese player eliminates two Allied naval steps (Japanese player's choice, may not eliminate a unit unless there is no other option), while reducing the Japanese air unit whose range was used one step (even if this would eliminate the air unit). No more than one Kamikaze per battle, but more than one Kamikaze per offensive is allowed. Draw One Strategy Card. Remove from play if used as an event.

596 6/19/2020 11:34:00 AM Sep-Dec 1944 Allies Message N. India still under Japanese control, so India Status moves to Unstable.

Note that there is a 'bug' in the VASSAL module when the resource spaces in Manchuko were converted at the end of the turn. The module reduced Japanese resources by 2 when the turn ended, even though it had already reduced Japanese resources by 2 when the event was played. The board has Japan with 6 Resource hexes when they still control 8.

[CV Soryu] at Colombo is OOS for the moment and will remain so through the allied replacement phase, so there is no Japanese air ZoI over Madras.

Play during an offensive; at the end of all combat against any active Allied naval units or against any active Allied naval unit, if no battle hexes were declared during the Offensive. Surprise Attack - But my guess is that you have an JN25 or other reaction card. Either that or the Gandhi card to put India into revolt anyway.

1. [CVL Hermes] Soerabaja to 1807, attack Akyab. [A]
2-3. [CV Indomitable] escorts 1 Aus corps Soerabaja AA vs Rangoon.
--- Blocks Sea connections to Dacca and Rangoon, 51st AF is OOS.
4. BB Missouri Biak to Osaka. [B]
5-6. CV Hancock and [CV Franklin] Biak to 3409. [B]
585 6/18/2020 5:47:00 PM May-Aug 1944 Japanese Message 51 AF does NOT go OOS on that sequence. Hexes that are subject of Amphibious Assault do not change hand until after battle, so Rangoon is still a supply eligible port for Japanese at the time of the SR resolution if a sea supply route of any length can be traced to it. If you moved overland to Rangoon, then 51 AF would be OOS, but then there would be no question of SR.
584 6/18/2020 5:30:00 PM May-Aug 1944 Allies Message Before I continue, I need your opinion on Special Reaction.

If I send a carrier to hex 1807, that cuts the sea connection to Dacca so it is momentarily NOT a supply eligable port. If I then AA a ground unit into Rangoon to occupy that port, Akyab is made OOS and 51AD loses its air ZoI. Would the Japanese be able to make an SR roll for the AA Rangoon?
583 6/18/2020 4:15:00 PM May-Aug 1944 Allies Message That was my guess.
I need to think about this last action for the turn a bit...might want to save this card for next turn...will decide after dinner later today.

And you need to manually set that your deck will not be reshuffled. The ACTS implementation of Manchuria is still bugged in the respect that playing it for event also triggers a reshuffle even though it shouldn't. To avoid that, it has to be manually switched to no reshuffle after playing it.
577 6/18/2020 3:59:00 PM May-Aug 1944 Japanese Play Strategy card as Event #48: 3 / General Adachi: New Guinea Offensive

576 6/18/2020 3:35:00 PM May-Aug 1944 Allies Play Strategy card as Event #79: 3 / Soviets Invade Manchuria
Manchuria: If Tojo has resigned, then this card MUST be played as an event, otherwise it can only be played as an OC. If played as the event the Japanese permanently lose two Resource Hexes (3302 and 3303). Place a Soviet Flag in each hex to denote Allied control that counts for Progress of the War. Bonus: If China has not surrendered, move the China marker two boxes toward or into the Stable Front box.. RESHUFFLE: If played as an OC or discarded, place this card back in the deck and reshuffle the deck at the end of the game turn. If played as the event, permanently remove this card from the deck and do NOT reshuffle. This card may not be played as a Future Offensive.

567 6/18/2020 1:47:00 PM May-Aug 1944 Japanese Message It's conditions for the move - the unit itself is not activated, so those limitations do not apply.

So, that means the conditions of 8.44. Although that really leaves only that the destination must be a friendly-controlled port.
566 6/18/2020 1:28:00 PM May-Aug 1944 Allies Message I often wonder how that event is supposed to work. What does that last phrase mean?

"...however all other conditions for a strategic naval move apply."

Do they have to be in supply? Are allied air ZoI ignored for the purpose of tracing supply as well as movement? No HQ is involved, so could you use that event to move a unit that is beyond the range of any friendly HQ?

I am OK with your move, just curious about the actual restrictions on the event.
565 6/18/2020 11:07:00 AM May-Aug 1944 Japanese Play Strategy card as Event #35: 3 / Operation KE: Guadalcanal Evacuation
Choose a Japanese occupied coastal hex. Up to 3 Japanese ground units in the chose hex and all adjacent hexes (that do not have to be coastal hexes) may conduct strategic naval movement (with no amphibious shipping points required) from these hexes to any single friendly port hex. No battles may be initiated. The move is unaffected by Allied air ZOI, however all other conditions for a strategic naval move apply.

Into every life a little rain must fall.

Maybe I should have pulled SEAC HQ from the board and placed him somewhere I could use this event, but there was no advanced port where it would do me much good. So we play for OPS.

547 6/17/2020 9:27:00 AM May-Aug 1944 Japanese Play Strategy card as Event #19: 2 / Weather: Monsoon Rains Cancel Offensive
Allied Offensive is canceled. All units are placed back at their starting locations. Remove from play if used as an event.

OC: 4 EC: 0

Message from Japanese:
JN25 in hand is still a great psychological boost for Japanese. And speaking of the weather, I think I better cancel this. Was planning to hold this longer, but since you will be out of ISR for this card, it is time for it.

544 6/17/2020 9:18:00 AM May-Aug 1944 Allies Message Allies have +1 ASP, now 10

Biggest change for me is South HQ with a range of 13. It allows Japan to supply Colombo for an air ZoI and can reach as far as Maldive Is. Japan can send an army there an recall it with Gen. Adachi which makes things really dicey for the allies in India.

JN25 cards do not unduly concern me, as I expect to be intercepted with every operation. It is those four weather cards you still have that concern me. They essentially negate some of my big operations.

542 6/17/2020 8:14:00 AM May-Aug 1944 Allies Message I believe Mark wanted to encourage players to use the FO card as the name implies...a Future Offensive. Most of us will still use it to save a card that may be more effective on a later turn. The real problem with using an FO card to go first is that you must have fewer cards than your opponent to use it so you are giving them even more actions at the end of the turn. You really need a compelling reason to use an FO card to conduct an offensive as an pre-emptive action.

538 6/17/2020 6:54:00 AM May-Aug 1944 Allies Message Does an ISR count as an EC Offensive?
I was under the impression that you had to conduct an offensive with the FO card to take the initiative.
