Since you've already said your PBM: 13AF will stay in Gili Gili and 5AF flies back to Cairns

Just for future reference, it isn't required to specify your PBM with your initial orders. Usually its done after combat when all damage has been applied as that can effect where you PBM units.

What I'm doing here is setting up for New Guinea defense (army moves to Lae) and staging for possible attacks next turn (SS Bde in Bougainville). Since the JP aren't in ISR right now (a rare T3 bonus in this scenario), I have a lot of flexibility in arranging my forces with this card play.

Also, I'm not going to bother placing the Tokyo Express marker. It goes away at the end of the turn anyway.

1) [I Corps] to 3923 is an AA move because 3923 is not a port. This is fine as you do have an ASP left (your last), but just wanted to make you aware in case you had other plans for that ASP with your last card play. Let me know if you would like to make an adjustment because of this.

2) A 4-10-6 air unit is known as an LRB (Long Range Bomber). So 5AF LRB is the common way to designate 5th Air Force Long Range Bombers when specifying orders.

33 5/22/2020 3:43:00 PM May-Aug 1942 Japanese Message To start with, it is safe to move your units around the board to friendly hexes as an Offensive without me being able to counter it in Reaction.* The Offensive Sequence (7.2) is the procedure that should be followed for every Offensive card play and Step 8 stipulates that "the reaction player can activate and move units to participate in Battle Hexes." If there are no Battle Hexes, then I can't do this step. I know the word "Offensive" is confusing in this context, because all you want to do is move units around the board and not actually attack anything, but the same procedure is used regardless of whether or not any Battle Hexes are actually created.

* (caveat) Even though I can't react with units, I could still potentially play Reaction Attack cards (depending on the text on the card) or Weather cards (of which the JP have none in the deck for this scenario - so no worries for you there).

Now as to the actual Offensive you're planning. You've stipulated that you want to move Aus Air, this requires that you use ANZAC HQ for this Offensive because SW Pac HQ can't activate Commonwealth units (6.12). By the card text, this gives you 4 total activations with a Logistics Value of 3, +1 with ANZAC HQ's efficiency rating.

Since you're in ISR, you correctly figured out that you can only move Navy or Army units (you pretty exclusively choose Navy units - so this is good).

But this is a decision point. With playing this card, you basically have 3 options:

1) Activate ANZAC HQ for 4 activations. Move some combination of Aus air & Aus ground and either army or navy units to reinforce those two objectives hexes.
2) Activate SW Pac HQ for 6 activations. Move all the Army units (but no Aus units) around to accomplish the same objectives.
3) Activate SW Pac HQ for 6 activations. Move all the Navy units (but no Aus units) around to accomplish the same objectives.

Also, activating C Pac HQ for 6 activiations is a possibility, but I don't think that will be useful because option 3 seems like the worst option. You're down two carriers and the Navy only has a single air unit. There is some ground, but those Marine units are weaker than the reduced strength Army corps that are sitting in eastern Australia. C Pac HQ can only reach the New Hebrides hexes, which is primarily occupied by Navy units, so the same option 3 problem persists.

So, it's Option 1 or 2. Either one of these can accomplish the objectives you've set out, so neither choice is wrong, but I'd like you to choose and activate units to move. This decision to use ANZAC or SW Pac HQ for this card play (and the units you choose to move), touches on longer term strategy in terms of how you would like the Allies to utilize the Australian units or not.

Final Thought : I learn by playing, so my thought here is that I want to reinforce Guadacanal and Gili Gili and use my card to its fullest.
Exactly how I do that I am not so sure. So if there is a better way to achieve my 2 objectives with this card play please over ride my moves. And please substitute how you would go about it. If trying to force a land unit into Gili Gili is dumb please donít do that either.

If the Japanese Inter-Service Rivalry marker is already on Strategic Agreement side there is no additional effect. Bonus: If this card is played as an event, the Japanese have the option to discard a card of their choice and re-place it with any card from the discard pile (not those removed from play).

So, yeah, I'm glad you amended the CA Kent to PM. I was going to recommend that, mostly because CA Kent couldn't make it the 15 hexes from Sarong. =)

I can understand why you would want to move [CV Wasp] to Noumea to protect it with BB N.Carolina. But don't forget about the 1M on Guadalcanal. They are without air cover right now, so on your next AR you will want to make sure you move an air unit in there.

Also, as a reminder, the US actually controls Gili Gili from the initial setup. The Vassal module doesn't put a marker there, by default, and I forgot to put it in the map I sent you.
