Agree that Normandy '44 is just a step away from a solitaire exercise. And the weather rolls can really make or break you as I recall.

I've played Illusions 3-4 times since. They made some major rules changes but it still doesn't gel. Too many things have to happen in just the right order for the Russian political events to matter. It seems close to being great but as is it's a turkey.

Seriously though, nine? Didn't help that you blew me out of the water in the last game in the West so quickly I felt some pressure to try and make inroads there.

Should've been a fort in Manassas/Frederick at least.

I've played a gawd awful amount of Twilight Struggle and just wrapped up a game of Normandy '44. N44 is more of a Allied Player playing a game and a Axis Player letting it happen to them. And I was the Allied Player.

144 5/30/2020 4:15:00 PM Summer 1862 Confederate Message I still don't think the CSA would win this game. Well, maybe this game given that they should be able to gain some SW since your obsession with the West made you forget the USA's primary objective pre Grant. Guard DC, Guard DC, Guard DC.

I decided to go into complete rabid attack mode. I was just going to attack north until I won or lost.

Because with a turn 3 EP nearly a third of the CSA's SW is lost. No way not to be at 0 in another 10 turns. Only two ways to gain and a dozen niggling ways to lose SW. Don't think the original game had them losing for every eliminated fort.

FWIW, that was the only campaign I had ;) Rest of my hand actually sucked, though I had that card that cancels your cav leader. AoP would of gotten at least one good whoppin'

You got the time and patience for a counter pusher like Normandy '44? Or there's always Twilight Struggle.
