1141 6/19/2020 6:51:00 PM Winter 1919 Central Powers Message I was looking back through some saves and I think the best turns for MEF would have been around T8 or around T14. Not sure what turns it came through your hand of course. Obviously in concert with a followup Salonika or Greece it gets even more fearsome, as once it lands on the Russian-flensed beach, if it can trace supply to Salonika it doesn't have MEF-activation-penalties any more.
1140 6/19/2020 6:35:00 PM Winter 1919 Allies Message Thanks. I agree it was an awesome game. Based on where things stood at the midway point, I thought I should have been able to win.

Iíll admit I never even considered coordinating the MEF with the Russians, but thatís a great idea for future games. I was keen to bring British corps or the French Orient Army into Salonika, but never seemed to have sufficient control of Bulgaria or the right cards at the right time. For a while, I forgot that I could rebuild a Serbian army at Salonika after that event or Greek Entry, which might have emboldened me to play one of those cards and hold onto the space until I drew the Orient Army.
1139 6/19/2020 6:24:00 PM Winter 1919 Central Powers Message Anyway, I learned several useful long term lessons from this.

Ready to fire up game 5 whenever you are!
1138 6/19/2020 6:23:00 PM Winter 1919 Central Powers Message The nightmare at Gallipoli was that the Russian ARMIES would have been allowed to blast the Gallipoli beaches clean so the MEF could land.
1137 6/19/2020 6:19:00 PM Winter 1919 Central Powers Message (I mean obviously you win cold if your die roll to cut my supply line to Austria had worked, or if you'd been able to force that closed in one of those disaster-aftermath turns. -- but I'm thinking about paths to victory after I'd managed to staunch the immediate danger).
1136 6/19/2020 6:16:00 PM Winter 1919 Central Powers Message You made some FANTASTIC plays spotting my weakness, exploiting it, and making it hurt. I thought for sure you had me in the aftermath of the disaster.

I feel like you might have been able to force a win either either:
(a) MEF at Gallipoli while Russians are at Adrianople.
(b) Constant pounding on western front, especially on Sedan by French who could do two A12's a turn.

At least those were the two things I feared the most!
1135 6/19/2020 6:14:00 PM Winter 1919 Allies Message I briefly imagined I could retake Bucharest if you scored 2 hits and I advanced a corps, but I don't have any in reserve!
1134 6/19/2020 6:14:00 PM Winter 1919 Central Powers Message GREAT game! And one of the most interesting I've played in quite a while. I made two significant mistakes - one was the boneheaded one not playing Bulgaria when I had a chance that set me back a whole turn from Total War, and the second one was the even worse mistake of "getting too greedy" in Romania.
1133 6/19/2020 6:13:00 PM Winter 1919 Allies Message Congrats on the hard-fought win!
1132 6/19/2020 6:12:00 PM Winter 1919 Central Powers Message That's safer for sure, since you actually can't take Bucharest (all your armies are flipped, no advancer), as counterintuitive as that looks.
1131 6/19/2020 6:10:00 PM Winter 1919 Allies Play Strategy card as Event #47: 4 / USA Reinforcements (2nd Army)
May only be played after "Over There". 2nd Army, 1 corps.

T20 AP6 Reinforcement

I think there is an outside chance I could have retaken Spittal and Bucharest with ops for 2 VPs, but I'll just take the guaranteed VP from the reinforcement.

1123 6/19/2020 5:58:00 PM Winter 1919 Central Powers Play Strategy card as Operations #55: 4 / Lloyd George
May not be played after MICHEL, BLUCHER, or PEACE OFFENSIVE. No BR attacks vs. Level 2 entrenched GE units may be made for the rest of this turn. The effect of this card is canceled by play of MICHEL, BLUCHER, or PEACE OFFENSIVE events. This event may mean that a BR MO cannot be fulfilled in a specific turn.

T20 CP6 Ops
Move Linz, Villach. Attack Metz, Strasbourg.
1. AH2 to Spittal. (FR6 OOS, at least for the moment)

1115 6/19/2020 5:47:00 PM Winter 1919 Central Powers Message I'm going to assume that since it's the last rounds, that you're okay w/ advancing FR6 (if possible) even if I am still able to move forces into Spittal through Villach, and even though if said CP forces in Spittal survived, Munich would be returned to me in attrition. -- But just confirming for the record since it's techically a supply warning. But it's also definitely the lowest-hanging VP available to you.

Message from Central Powers:
1078 6/17/2020 1:46:00 PM Winter 1919 Allies Message Yes, there were too many 3s and 4s between the columns and the roll. Indeed, if the 4 had been rolled before the 3, I would have wiped out the Bulgarians and not lost a Russian army.

Before seeing your move, I would have lost RU10 from Adrianople, so Iíll stick with that. Replace it with that last (RUc), which empties the Russian reserve.

Feel welcome to spend 2 ops killing that (RUc) or adjust your move as desired.
