Regarding the faction order, you can only decide who goes first. The order is always Alphabetical as that is how we started. (You can think of it as that is how we are sitting around the table, in order clockwise.) So you could choose Horse to go first if you wanted, but the order would have to be Horse, Lion, Star, Asp. If Asp goes first, the order is Asp, Horse, Lion, Star.

They didn't make the same fix to the cards as they did the the reinforcements section of the rules. So the cards allow it, but that is not the design intent.

They recommend we play that you have to place where you have control AND no enemy CUs, even though that is what the current cards allow.

I'm okay with that and I will play with that constraint.

They are correcting the cards in the new game to align with this interpretation.

90 7/25/2020 8:14:00 PM Turn 1 Andrew (Asp) Message i think it could go either way. dont think ive played a game where you can drop dudes like that. not sure if they intend these type of troops to be played as reinforcements, as that seems to be only way to add units to the map (even when training them it seems). also, if you look at definition of battle, it occurs when a player "moves" an army in to space with enemy CU.two facions can't co-exist in same space. so i would argue that you are not "moving" an army, and thus, we are both co-existing in a space that is not a major city (where i could hide inside). Regardless, however you guys want to do it is fine with me since still a learning game for me haha!

It does not seem to restrict to locations without enemy CU (that is a limit on reinforcements). I can't find a rule or BGG clarification that addresses this. I would like to place in Philippolos where Asp has a unit.

Can I do that? It would initiate a battle, I believe. I figured this would have been addressed somewhere, such as a rule that says you can't cause combat by dropping units in from an event.

Going by text of card alone, it would seem to be allowed.

I'm also going to come down on my move segment (assuming I get a decent roll) to fight ASP in Sidon, but I'll wait to see what the consensus is on this Thracian Mercs card.

Most ideal situation is that we look at files as soon as possible after posting and at least just note in an ACTS message that you're going to possibly play a response.

I would say that if you don't think of the response until you look back in your hand on your turn, then that seems like waiting too long. I often forget I have a surprise card. This is a little more forgiving for whomever is the next player too.

I prefer to do a small amount of backtracking to having to wait a full day for each interaction like that.

We could go to giving every play a notification period, say 12 or 24 hours, but I think this would slow the game down severely.

the fact that you get to redraw cards after suprise is bit strange for me in this game..like there's no incentive to really discard them early in round. might as well hold on to them til certain situations like this arise and get a new card
