If I'm wrong on this defensive fire, you can fix it when you get the file, but I think your artillery has to fire at the mechanized infantry at 3 points.

Then, even though it might be overkill, I think all three of your armored points have to go against my two point armor.

So, first roll is artillery needing 1-6 because of my failed artillery roll.

The second, third, and fourth also use 1-6, but all have to go against my armor (I think)

But this is the 2nd time it's happened in our game. I just happened to check when I checked my sent folder to see if I'd sent my move to you (sometimes I forget). Anyway,

Only one battle in Berg-Reuland. Since not all of the units crossed the river, you won't get that bonus on me. Of course, we could still miss the non-combined arms here.

First die is your one call at 1-8 and the next two are my 1-4 attempts beyond the front line.

Oh, well. As I typed earlier, I should have been more aggressive on the first two phases when I was rolling well. I feel like my units are backed up like rush hour on the 405 (anywhere on the West Coast) or the 90 (here in the Midwest).

I clicked on this link out of habit, so here is a meaningless roll since I can't try to rebuild a bridge today. Watch me roll a 1 when it makes no difference.

We will now probe the limits of my ineptitude. I'm making three very risky attacks, starting in Elsenborn #42. It's bad enough as it is, but if the math I showed you in the .gmv file isn't right, I'm in a world of hurt.

So, you have 6 points for two calls at your usual 1-8 (first two dice) while my 10 points gives me three calls beyond the front line at 1-4 (last three dice). I'm beginning to replay that Hindenberg disaster broadcast in my head -- "Oh, the humanity!"

We've already seen where I neglected to move and now, we see where you neglected to move. In Udenbrech, your OOS unit gets no artillery call because of being OOS (as I understand the rule, though it contradicts the earlier one saying that defenders always get a call). So, you can make the call and inflict damage on your turn, if I'm wrong.

Okay! A neuron misfired. I thought we were fighting in Vtanden #56 and I'd already won the battlein #56. I marked them as battling and there was no one to fight.

The units of yours that I pulled off were both in #57 Driekirch.

So, I wasted this day with the folks in #56 with my carelessness. I will put them all back, mark my stack as moved to correct my mistake and move to the real battle in Holzhum.

Since your artillery must fire at the biggest unit, that will be the first die, aimed at one of the 3 point foot infantry, needing 1-6 with your DRM and your mechanized infantry still isn't high enough to go after my engineer, I will shoot him at the other 3 point infantry with the second die. IF you prefer to apply both hits to the same unit, you can change it on your turn. Meanwhile, first die needs 1-6 and second needs 1-5.

The units in Beaufort were already there, but I can't get combined arms, so you'll definitely have your -1 DRM.

The first die is your artillery call. The next three are my artillery calls. It's still front line, so that's still 1-8 and 1-6 respectively. I'd better take advantage of that spread while I have it.

Well, you wouldn't have gotten the river crossing because all of the units except for the non-wheeled mech unit were already there. BUT you still got them both because you only needed a 1-6.

But that's not good news for me, needing 1-2s on everything. So, if you don't mind, I'll just lump them all together--three artillery, two regular infantry, and the four non-mech mech infantry for nine dice needing 1-2s.

Johnny, I think Ray made a special rule for pbem play that you always assume the US player would want to blow the bridge every time, so the German player should roll for bridge-blowing while he's moving to save time.

Look like you're crossing two bridges. First roll is Holzhm. There's a regular infantry there who hasn't moved, so he needs 1-4 to blow the bridge

Second bridge is into B-R. I have an engineer in there who hasn't moved, so he needs a 1-8 to blow the bridge.

The river at Irrel can be attempted because the engineer sticking out of the stack didn't move. The river at Nusbaum cannot be attempted because the engineer moved. So, this is Irrel needing 1-4.
