Henry - though you have to advance with all units involved in the attack, you can still use a single unit during strategic movement to cover a single hole (or any other reposition). Jeff - you can make attacks one at a time rather than predeclaring them. I'll assume that your intent was just to speed things along. If you are ahead or behind schedule, I'll stop the log for you to make an adjustment. |

I think you're experiencing the duplicate counter problem Jeff and I encountered with your log file previously. Try just using the last log as the saved game file, and play that. Let me know how that works out. Otherwise, we can just use the 1.1 module from NUTS! and I can provide each of you instructions on how to implement the control markers (or we come up with a workaround for showing control). |

89 | 10/10/2020 7:40:00 AM | Turn 2 | Syrian Army | Message |
The control markers I created won't work in the new module because that was custom from our verison of the module. So I've reimplemented the control markers in the 1.1 version and posted a new module to dropbox. The legacy markers won't work so they should be replaced as needed with new markers from the counter tray. You should also refresh your counters after loading the new module and your saved game file. |

I tried again today, and had more success when I ignored my saved game file and used only Henry's log file. I didn't get duplicate counters. However, I need Henry to unmask the card he sent as only the side who masked a unit (or card) is permitted to unmask it). |

I got the same results using either version of the module. Later today or tomorrow I'll verify that. |
79 | 9/26/2020 4:53:00 PM | Turn 2 | Syrian Rebels | Message |
Could the problem have occurred because I am using Vassal version 3.4.2 and you are reading my log with Vassal 3.2.17? I do not see any duplicates so re-running my logs probably would not help. We are not so far along in the game that re-starting the game using the new module would be too much of a pain but finding the reason for the problem would be a help. |
78 | 9/26/2020 8:15:00 AM | Turn 2 | Syrian Army | Message |
When I run refresh, all seems well. Then when I start to run Henry's log file, most if not all spaces create one duplicate of each unit. I haven't seen anything like this happen before Some ideas: 1) I run the log, delete my own duplicates and then have each other player do so before continuing. Maybe the scope of the problem will just be my session? 2) If Henry has sufficient fallbacks (possibly rerunning all logs), we stick with my original fix and ignore the upgrade for this game 3) Restart using the new module version. Thoughts? |

I am using Vassal version 3.4.2. I understand that one can tinue using Vassal 3.2.17 to open files created on Vassal 3.4.2. This only becomes a problem if the Vassal game module changes to a 3.4 module. Will this affect the use of the new Fitna module? List of my cards follows by email. |

Nuts! published a new vassal module that fixes the graphic mismatch problem, but it doesn't include the control markers. However, when I loaded out game and refreshed the counters, they remained for our game in progress (but would not be available for a new game). I also saw that I was no longer to open my own Syrian windows, and had to change to observer and back to Syrian in order to see them again. My recommendation is that we all download the latest version of the module. When you create your next log file, use the new version. Load your saved game file, click Tools > Refresh Counters. Click the Surrender button and join as observer. Then repeat that last step but rechoose your own side and you should have visibility to your hand. |

Everyone should have access when they need it. I don't expect my opponents to cheat. Looking at hidden units should be on a need to know basis. If you are ok with doing the combats I'm ok with you having access to IS units. No need to change until the end of the game unless you want to do it. |
61 | 9/12/2020 8:05:00 AM | Turn 1 | Syrian Army | Message |
When I flipped the IS unit for Iraqi combat 2, the logging and die roll were accurate so we can stick with the original results. Posted updated log to dropbox. Although any player can (initially) mask an IS piece, it can only be unmasked by the side that last masked it. As I did the setup for the IS, that would be me. I think that's just how Vassal works. It could be re-implemented by doing away with Masking and configuring the piece so anybody can flip it over. Do you guys think that should be adjusted (either at the end of this game or before we go on)? |

Unfortunately the problem remains unresolved so, although I will try and update games whenever I have a firm connection, I am afraid my turnaround will be delayed still further. Other non gaming commitments mean that, realistically I do not expect to get back to regular gaming much before the week beginning Monday 7th September |

I took a look at the BGG thread and noticed this response from somebody at NUTS! "In scenarios 1 and 2, before the Russian direct intervention in Syria, Tartus and Latakia are not sources of supply for Syrian forces and Syrian units isolated there are OOS. In all other scenarios (after the Intervention of Russia in Syria), Russian sources of supply can supply SYRIAN (only) units as well, meaning that Tartus and Latakia can then supply Syrians units." The Syrian forces at the beginning start as one contiguous blob (though thin), so I think that the units in Latakia and Tartus are in supply because they can trace to Damascus. I wouldn't have thought to have read a rule called "28.0 Russian Intervention" fo find out how supply sources in Tartus and Latakia work. The last sentence of 14.0 is good in that it indicates the country's color of supply center as being a driving factor (and I just assumed that because Tartus and Latakia were inside Syria that they would be controlled by Syria). If you both agree, then I think we can just continue with the game as is, given that we were doing the supply rules correctly (but we know about these nuances). |

I'm fine with a restart. I'd like to review what's being said on BGG before doing so. Seems like a lot of discussion. Hopefully these are just some oddities to work out rather than a systemic problem with the game (despite the good initial reviews). |

Been browsing Fitna on BGG and discovered this bombshell " 2) Scenario : I think that Syrian units beginning in Latakia and Tartus are OOS because they can not trace supply to a Syrian supply symbol (Aleppo and Damas. In scenarios 1 and 2, before the Russian direct intervention in Syria, Tartus and Latakia are not sources of supply for Syrian forces and Syrian units isolated there are OOS. In all other scenarios (after the Intervention of Russia in Syria), Russian sources of supply can supply SYRIAN (only) units as well, meaning that Tartus and Latakia can then supply Syrians units." I wonder if we should restart the game? |
