Merry Christmas to and your family Bob. I've really enjoyed the PBEM games that we have played in the last year or so. I'll keep this game open so that I can alert you when I am ready to play WW in Mid-January. Hopefully you still have an open space on your game table then. Happy New Year! |

I should have said I will likely be up for another WW game in January. I lost the dining room table to the holidays, so I’m short on table space. Let me know when you are ready and I can let you know then if I can play. Good game. I thought it was pretty close. |

I agree that it would be a longshot for you to take Albany. I think that if the French take a British fortress (eg Albany) and the French have at least 1 VP, the French win (even if the British control Ohio Forks and Niagara). I used to follow the Wilderness War Consimworld forum and if I remember correctly the consensus was the game is evenly matched. I would up for another WW game in January. |

I feel bad about some of the rules gaffes I made in the game. Not knowing(remembering) the victory conditions is a real head scratcher. I should have reread the rules like I said I was going to do after messing up the auxiliaries retreating before regulars rule. I would like to take a few weeks off from online gaming but would you be interested in trying this again in mid January? I'll definitely reread the rules and be better prepared then to give you a better game. |

Fighting through your forces at Hudson Carry South, building a fortification then beating your forces again at Albany and taking the fortress is a full hand of cards operation if everything goes right. Even then that is not an auto victory(assuming I get to 11VPs) if you take Niagara. The best chance I had in this game to do that was to keep the fort at Niagara, fight you there than retreat inside the fort when necessary. Than I would harass your supply chain if possible to prevent siege table die rolls. I'll concede. It seems that this game is slanted to the British. My local gaming opponent refuses to play because he thinks it's a cake walk for the British. I think that you had some really bad luck not getting Wolfe and with those leader casualties at HCN. I still like the game tho. |

What I was implying (regarding Albany) is that if you take control of Albany, you will likely win. |
304 | 12/18/2020 10:39:00 PM | 1759 Late Season | Britain | Message |
It’s fine if you want to surrender but I’m also fine if you want to try to take control Albany and / or reverse your destruction and abandonment of Niagara. If you surrender, I think it was a close game with me only having six cards remaining. It was a competitive game. |

Well,we do now that I read the sudden death Victory conditions. That's embarrassing. I was wondering why you were being so methodical moving up towards Niagara. I lose I'm trying to think what I would have done differently if I had remembered the SD rules. Clearly I did not get around to reading the full set. I had a killer last hand. I would have had to draw troops from Louisbourg. You would have then made an Amphibious invasion from Halifax. Wow Sorry for the anticlimatic end to the game. I honestly thought I was doing well. :( Good game. I'll take a couple days to decompress and I'll be back. |

I want to ensure we are on the same page regarding Victory conditions (and that I understand): If I control Niagara and Ohio Forks AND I control all originally British fortresses, I win (regardless of VPs). Agree? |

While looking up whether Dumas can automatically withdraw from battle I see that there should have been no battle at Presq'ile as an auxiliary force can withdraw automatically from a force made up of only drilled troops in the Wilderness. Success. They are now at LES Is that unit at Kittaning flipped or at full strength? I picked it up and don't remember. While I was playing my 2 games of Mr. Madison's War online I decided to read a book on the War of 1812. The one at the library was out so I got and read a book on Blue Jacket, the Shawnee chief. Depending on who's research you believe Blue Jacket was somewhere between 2 and 18 when this war was taking place. It's really interesting reading about the Indian tribes interactions with the French,British and the new American government. Blue Jacket was a mentor to Tecumseh but died shortly before The War of 1812 I recently picked up The Dark and Bloody Ground from Against the Odds and hope to get the game on the same topic(Northwest Indian War) from Compass. |
