186 10/18/2020 7:22:00 PM 1805-1806 Britain Message Agreed Trafalgar went much better for the French this time and were able to stop Admiralty. The drought also hit the Coalition worse than the French; think I just had an unusually high CP draw last game with lots of extra card draws from events.
185 10/18/2020 3:30:00 PM 1805-1806 France Message Thanks Dan. Yea, I agree. I am really starting to see how the game plays. I would be up for a 3-player game with Matt.
184 10/18/2020 1:25:00 PM 1805-1806 Britain Message Well-played Todd! I'm kinda digging these short 1-turn games at least for learning. It's good to see this played very differently with France doing well.

Matt mentioned he'd be interested in doing a 3P game with us. Would you like to do that next?
183 10/18/2020 1:15:00 PM 1805-1806 France Message I think what really helped me out this game was the lucky roll I got in the first naval battle. Taking out 3 squadrons from the British can really hamper their naval superiority on the first turn.
182 10/18/2020 1:11:00 PM 1805-1806 France Message oh, I read that wrong. So it's only VPs for gained and lost keys, not the keys at the start.

I see there is also a VP for each surviving minor pact and any resources which we both have none.

Still, pretty strange to have the game end at this point. I am wondering if they should have started the peace rolls on a later turn....something like Oath does.

181 10/18/2020 1:05:00 PM 1805-1806 Britain Message Coalition score is: -2 = -1 for Naples, -1 for Venice
Imperial score is: 2 = +1 for Naples, +1 for Venice
180 10/18/2020 1:04:00 PM 1805-1806 France Message I don't believe this game....

If I understand the scoring correctly I have 15+2=17 points, and you have 7+7+8=22 points

Is that right? I guess in 4 player game French wins this, but in 2 player French should sacrifice a card to make sure it doesn't happen?
179 10/18/2020 1:04:00 PM 1805-1806 Britain Message I think you won :)
178 10/18/2020 1:02:00 PM 1805-1806 France Message Damn it!!!!

Message from France:
Peace roll. Game ends on 6
176 10/18/2020 12:54:00 PM 1805-1806 Britain Message I won't adjust either. Do you want to roll?
175 10/18/2020 12:53:00 PM 1805-1806 Britain Message Feel free to go ahead with the preempt on the Danes -- we're still figuring this game out. On the other hand, I didn't see anything in the rules that says cards must be discarded...
174 10/18/2020 12:50:00 PM 1805-1806 France Message no conquests

Peace roll.

France will not adjust
173 10/18/2020 12:49:00 PM 1805-1806 France France: Play Strategy card as Operations #78: 3 / Turncoats
Enemy suffers Attrition before battle. Leaders are not subject to this Attrition even if being used as Units. Each enemy loss gives you one extra battle die throughout the upcoming battle.

Message from France:
I don't know why I thought that I should keep the card, but pretty sure you are right, I lose it if I don't use it.

This is a good card that I should have used.

I would like to preempt the Dutch with one of my cards. Do you mind if I do that?

So preempt with this:

1-2. Move Ottomans to Aide
3. flip Ottomans to + side

Then on FR turn to spend 4 CPs I will:
1-3 Move Ottomans to Partner
4. flip Ottomans to + side

Prussia goes back to Aide status on Austria track.
172 10/18/2020 12:27:00 PM 1805-1806 Britain Message I couldn't find anything in the rules whether cards can be kept between turns. Did you see anything about that?
171 10/18/2020 12:27:00 PM 1805-1806 France Message they are ok.

169 10/18/2020 12:24:00 PM 1805-1806 France Message France keeps 1 card
168 10/18/2020 12:24:00 PM 1805-1806 France France: Play Strategy card as Operations #17: 4 / The Weather Gauge
Automatically intercept an enemy Fleet in your Zone at no cost with no possibility of evasion. Each of your Squadrons throws an additional battle die in the ensuing battle. OR: Automatically evade (even after failing an evasion dice roll) and enter any friendly Port in that Zone or exit that Zone (unless offboard) without interception.

Message from France:
Last impulse

1-2. Move Prussia down to Friend status on track
3-4. Move Ottomans up to Aide on track
167 10/18/2020 12:20:00 PM 1805-1806 France Denmark: Play Strategy card as Operations #24: 4 / March to the Guns
A non-neutral Formation of your choice adjacent to a battle moves to the contested space. This additional Formation joining the battle could trigger attrition/terrain penalties.

Message from France:
all neutrals pass, Spain will pass (no siege)

Dutch build a squadron in Copenhagen
166 10/18/2020 12:06:00 AM 1805-1806 Britain Austria: Play Strategy card as Operations #901: 6 / Hussars and Grenzers
Only Austrian flages can be placed in Austria by CP expenditure until the next scheduled Austrian Impulse. Until then, all Austrian interceptions and evasions succeed - including one failed just prior to the play of this event. Any CP expenditure for a flag placement rejected by the play of this event is forfiet. RESERVE

Message from Britain:
Okay I see now that Austria cannot be preempted b/c it has no cards.

Build 1 SP at Tyrol, 1 SP at Linz, 1 SP at Zagreb.
165 10/17/2020 11:54:00 PM 1805-1806 France Message no problem. I really find the odd number cards are tough given the way the CP expenditures work.

You can move on to AU. I don't think I could preempt (I think) since it is not a card. but a reserve.
164 10/17/2020 11:36:00 PM 1805-1806 Britain Message Sorry about that -- Britain use 2 CPs to move Sweden to Diplomatic Aide status, and 3rd CP is wasted.

Let me know if I should move onto Austria.
163 10/17/2020 11:00:00 PM 1805-1806 France Message Hi Dan - the event was 3 CP, so that's 9 CP total, but the 2 squadrons and a unit in Benevento would be 10.

Also, I think AU still has a reserve card you can play.

162 10/17/2020 9:07:00 PM 1805-1806 Britain Message Instead of the event firing, I'll use those 4 CPs to build another squadron at Surrey.
161 10/17/2020 8:27:00 PM 1805-1806 Britain Message Youíre right Todd ó I definitely missed that! Iíll have to redo the move.
160 10/17/2020 6:20:00 PM 1805-1806 France Message Do you have to move a squadron into Western Mediterranean to take control of that zone before taking Barcelona with the Descent card?
159 10/17/2020 5:14:00 PM 1805-1806 Britain Message Will use +option to chain the Admiralty card. This should happen first and will chain Descent from the Sea event to it.

Build 1 squadron (4 CPs) at Sussex (place with Build marker on) and 1 SP with Hill (2 CPs).

158 10/17/2020 5:09:00 PM 1805-1806 Britain Britain: Play Strategy card as Event #3: 3 / Descent from the Sea
Place one Unit and a Flag of this nation in any unoccupied enemy Port of any Zone controlled by this nation's Camp. This Port cannot be a Fortress.

Message from Britain:
Playing for the event to place BR flag + 1 SP at Barcelona.
157 10/17/2020 3:28:00 PM 1805-1806 France Message Yes. I agree with that.
156 10/17/2020 3:19:00 PM 1805-1806 France Message Yes. I agree with that.
155 10/17/2020 2:49:00 PM 1805-1806 Britain Message Looks good -- if I understand correctly if Britain plays a regular card this impulse, then the turn would be over after France's next impulse since they are the only ones with a card left. Do you agree?
154 10/17/2020 1:53:00 PM 1805-1806 France Message French continuing impulse:

2. Flag Rome (no flag overrun)
3-4. Ottomans to France friend on diplomacy track
153 10/17/2020 1:42:00 PM 1805-1806 France Message Russia gets off a kill and then eliminated

150 10/17/2020 1:14:00 PM 1805-1806 France France: Play Strategy card as Operations #85: 4 / Council of Dresden
Exchange a random card from your hand with a randomly drawn card from any allied or Neutral nation with a remaining card(s) or from the deck. Then draw a card from the deck.

Message from France:
French impulse.

1. Massena and 4 to Rome

I don't think you would have any cards to affect battle, but will wait for you to verify

Spain will make a siege roll on Lisbon
145 10/17/2020 1:06:00 PM 1805-1806 France Message right!! British still have a card, and a Reserve left. I knew I was missing something.
144 10/17/2020 11:48:00 AM 1805-1806 Britain Message Thatís right in principle ó but donít forget that Britainís count does not include Admiralty which I couldnít pick up.
143 10/17/2020 1:53:00 AM 1805-1806 France Message I'm trying to understand how the turn ends. According to 5.5, when only one power has cards left, then the turn is over after they take one more impulse.

Since France is the only power with cards left that means the turn is over after France's next impulse. Is that correct?
142 10/17/2020 12:34:00 AM 1805-1806 Britain Russia: Play Strategy card as Event #55: 3 / Papal Bull
Place a Unit and Flag (even if already flagged by an ally) in one friendly or unoccupied Duchy in or adjacent to Rome. OR Spend 5 CPs on the Diplomatic Track to influence any nation(s) other than Ottoman Turks but never during the first round of 1805.

Message from Britain:
Place a Unit + Flag Rome. (By "unit", I assume 1 SP but not sure)
141 10/16/2020 11:22:00 PM 1805-1806 France Message France will not preempt. Russia can go ahead.
140 10/16/2020 8:53:00 PM 1805-1806 Britain Message And will wait for French preemption decision before Russian impulse.

That drought was painful for the Coalition!
139 10/16/2020 8:52:00 PM 1805-1806 Britain Message Austria passes.
138 10/16/2020 8:52:00 PM 1805-1806 Britain Britain: Play Strategy card as Operations #14: 4 / Depot Captured
Any nation that has Flagged or unflagged an enemy Capital or Fortress (including its own while under enemy control) during this Impulse draws a card plus another for each Capital or Fortress so gained.

Message from Britain:
Build Hill in Benevento.
137 10/16/2020 12:30:00 PM 1805-1806 France Message Can you check with me before playing Russia's impulse. I may preempt.
136 10/16/2020 12:26:00 PM 1805-1806 France France: Play Strategy card as Operations #37: 4 / Partisans
All forces in Spanish Home Duchies hostile to Spain suffer Attrition except for Fortress Flags. Spain gains one CP for ach Attrition kill for immediate use. Event is void and must be played for 4 CPs if there are no Forces hostile to Spain in Spain.

Message from France:
1-3 Napoleon to Zurich
4. Flag Venice
135 10/16/2020 12:18:00 PM 1805-1806 France France: Draw Extra Strategy Card Message from France:

so that roll is void. I'm not going to siege after seeing that. Let me know if just taking that roll back makes sense.

130 10/16/2020 12:09:00 PM 1805-1806 France Message that was lucky...Spain takes a unit loss, but the fort suffers 3 damage so falls.

109 10/15/2020 10:25:00 PM 1805-1806 France Message Dan - My modified move is below. Thanks for catching...
can you change the log on your BR round?

2-3 build 1 units in Rome
4 move Rome unit to Naples
5 Soult and 2 to Artois
6 flag Naples
108 10/15/2020 10:15:00 PM 1805-1806 France Message You're right Dan! Let me think about how to modify my CPs. Will update tonight.
107 10/15/2020 8:55:00 PM 1805-1806 Britain Message Naples is a British/Neutral associate Duchy, so don't think France can build.
106 10/15/2020 1:07:00 PM 1805-1806 Britain Message Agreed about the card tallies -- we have to mentally keep tracking of who still has their home cards and we can't even check the discard pile.
105 10/15/2020 1:00:00 PM 1805-1806 France Message also, can you move by resource counter to 0 on your log. I forgot to do that.
104 10/15/2020 12:56:00 PM 1805-1806 France Message I may make a preemption sometime this round if allowed
103 10/15/2020 12:52:00 PM 1805-1806 France France: Play Strategy card as Operations #63: 6 / Malet's Conspiracy
Draw a random card from the French hand (if available) and one from the Draw Pile. Not playable by France as an event.

Message from France:

2-5 build 2 units in Naples
6 - flag Naples
102 10/15/2020 12:44:00 PM 1805-1806 France France: Draw Extra Strategy Card Message from France:
France is going to use it's Resource to draw a card first.
101 10/15/2020 12:42:00 PM 1805-1806 France Message I took it as using the Russia home spaces just like a build units expenditure would, but the card like many of them is really ambiguous.

100 10/15/2020 12:24:00 PM 1805-1806 Britain Message I think it must mean a Russian home duchy (i.e., where it would normally be allowed to build).
99 10/15/2020 12:22:00 PM 1805-1806 Britain Message Actually, the card says "friendly Home space" and I assumed that means Russian home space. But if it can be a coalition space, I'd put them in Linz instead.
98 10/15/2020 11:53:00 AM 1805-1806 Britain Message Wow, 6 units! They'll go in Borisov with Bagration.
97 10/15/2020 2:42:00 AM 1805-1806 France Message I've also been playing the sieges slightly wrong. If the sieging force has more '6s' than the defenders have '5 and 6s' then they keep rolling. Unfortunately this didn't matter in this last round, but it does make things a little more doable.
96 10/15/2020 2:39:00 AM 1805-1806 France Message Sweden is out of cards

Denmark will pass

France will wait to see where Rus puts their descending hordes before making a move
95 10/15/2020 2:38:00 AM 1805-1806 France Spain: Play Strategy card as Operations #81: 6 / Napoleon Abdicates
Playable only with France's consent and if Napoleon is in play. Otherwise, play as 6 CPs. Regroup Napoleon, all French Forces not in French Home Duchies and all enemy Forces in French Home Duchies. France (but not its Pact allies) may not attack or be attacked until the next Turn when Napolon returns as a free reinforcement. If played during Turn 5, a 6th Turn is added. Voids Capitulation event vs. France.
