Few things on the game:

Just my tips, could be just wrong what I say...

I would wait to build up to 4 armies with Union, in my opinion 2 are enough, becuase not having a cavalry makes the other 2 very weak.

To protect DC one should build a lot of forts. Best Location is obvisouly Manassas, other places in which there must be a fort are Harpers Ferry and Friedrik.
Defending East is the top priority, then KY. WY is better then MO, because if u can nuild a fort in Grafton a leave so troops there Conf can not raid PA and OH. I like to put MClelland in charge of AoP in this way it's easier to intercpet and u recevive 1 SP every turn if u are adjacent to DC.

I actually thought you would load up ANV with SP and generals much earlier and pound DC until you took it, but I couldn't see what to do beyond keeping a reasonable amount of SP in the AoP there.
