38 1/3/2021 9:05:00 PM Spring 1861 Union Message normally, I would say you should try to use a powerful card like the Western Concentration to move SP and then attack a target to achieve that surprise effect... but placing PC in KY now will get you the state [10 SW + 1 extra SP per turn] ... so it's a good play.
37 1/3/2021 9:01:00 PM Spring 1861 Union Message you're welcome... the relevant sentence is buried in Rule 7.73...
36 1/3/2021 8:17:00 PM Spring 1861 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #75: 2 / Western Concentration Block
Confederate player can either remove or demote an army commander in any state except Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, or Florida for no political cost. OR Confederate Player may move 5 SPs using Strategic Movement (rail connections only) to the same space with a Confederate General who is then activated and must attempt to enter a space with at least one or more Union SPs or fort. If a general casualty occurs in a battle caused by this card, the Commanding General is eligible, this is an exception to the rules. See 4.5 Remove from deck if event is played.

Message from Confederate:
Place PC markers:
Lexington Kentucky
Springfield Missouri (home of Homer Simpson)

Thanks for the answer to my question that always bothered me Rule 7.7 "...unless exempted by an event or the commanding General of an Army..."

33 1/3/2021 3:06:00 PM Spring 1861 Union Message >>>if there is one leader in an Army only and is in a battle that is less than 3:1 and a 10 is rolled does that leader take a Casualty die roll?

yes... which is why you usually put in more subordinate generals on T2 or asap.
32 1/3/2021 8:22:00 AM Spring 1861 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #122: 3 / Crisis in the West
If two or more Confederate armies are in Virginia, the Confederate player places (Confederate choice) one army (placed, not moved) in a Confederate controlled Resource space (destroyed or not), Riverine port, or Blockade Runner port (open or closed) in Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana, or Texas. Remove from deck if event is played.

Message from Confederate:
Place PC markers in:
Bowling Green KY, Lebanon KY, and Somerset KY

I have a question if there is one leader in an Army only and is in a battle that is less than 3:1 and a 10 is rolled does that leader take a Casualty die roll?

As you can see I am back even though my jaw still hurts and the drugs that I take have been keeping me down but I have finished them yesterday so hopefully I can carry on.

in future, to speed up the game play due to PBEM, we usually roll for both sides when prompted...

so, in this case, you could just do like this as an example...

USA [5] = +1
CSA [3] = +1
21 12/23/2020 7:18:00 PM Spring 1861 Union Message 1/1 result; a tie, so defender wins...

AOP [4] retreat back to Fred.
Beau and 2 sp stay.

14 12/21/2020 5:53:00 PM Spring 1861 Union Message >Should I fail then I will roll for my attack, with I believe a +2 DRM for leader defense value?

correct...
it's fine that you rolled that way, but most people would do it this way, in this case,
USA = attacker roll
CSA = defender roll

since you already rolled for the csa, I will roll for the usa.

13 12/21/2020 5:48:00 PM Spring 1861 Union Message >I don't see any detrimental die roll modifiers should I try to retreat and fail ...

correct, no penalty.

9 12/21/2020 10:28:00 AM Spring 1861 Confederate Message I don't see any detrimental die roll modifiers should I try to retreat and fail I shall try to leave the upcoming battle hex. Should I fail then I will roll for my attack, with I believe a +2 DRM for leader defense value?
8 12/20/2020 3:16:00 PM Spring 1861 Union Play Strategy card as Event #106: 3 / British Clydeside Shipyards
Confederate immediately receives three SPs in any open Blockade Runner Port, no more than one SP per port, but more than one SP per Blockade zone is permitted. If insufficient ports are available, the excess SPs are lost.

Message from Union:
so, for my 1st card play...

leave 1 sp in DC, AOP [4]
1. move to Frederick
2. pick up 2 sp in Harpers
3. AOP [6] attack JJ in Winchester

you can try to withdraw or play a reaction card... if not, you can roll for battle or if you're unsure, I can roll
7 12/20/2020 3:11:00 PM Spring 1861 Union Message for PBEM, most people use Vassal or Cyberboard or other map platforms, which allows you to exchange game files with opponents anywhere... if you are not familiar with those, I can email you some basic primers that other people have created... or you can look thru consim as it has tutorials to help you.

ACTS is just a website where players can draw cards and roll dice.

or, you can just go old school like a few people and just move your pieces on your physical game map... you play a card and write down your moves here on ACTS ... we can then do a end-of-turn summary to sync up our boards.

6 12/20/2020 2:38:00 PM Spring 1861 Confederate Message I will not be playing a Campaign card at this time.

So I am new to playing this game on line, or even face to face played when it first came out with TAHGC and again with GMT, how do moves work? Also placing markers, units, and other items on the board?
