Good game, I was quite impressed with your late game defenses. I normally don't put so much effort into Coastal defenses, but that, combined with a complete lack of navy cards (AA or BL) for the Union, made it very tough to attack only overland. That and don't underestimate the fort in Little Rock, I love to hit the Trans-Mississippi and flank Tennessee down to Texas. Fort stopped that, and with no AA modifier, no way to deal with the fort! You can see ultimately, the only way I could force you out of Tennessee, was to cut the supply (Corinth and Chattanooga/Dalton).. Not the first time I've had to do that... *grin* Dover/Nashville, if dug in, is very resilient to direct attacks. |

Maybe. Ultimately, it comes down to the cards and dice. I gambled on an 83% chance of victory, and lost. Earlier in the game, ACTS generated consecutive ones and took out Pleasonton, which broke your momentum. |
728 | 3/12/2021 9:04:00 PM | Spring 1865 | Union | Message |
Wow, did the math, I only had a 16.6% chance of victory, I though it was 50% (but I forgot to include your fort, thought you were only at +5).. I think a lot of this game is won/lost in the SR phase. If you had 4 troops in Richmond, and not 5, 100% chance of victory for you.. One more SP (at 6), and I wouldn't get the 3:1 bonus, and your army would survive no matter what.. |

In the Glossary (pg 4) under the definition of State Control.. State Control: When the Union player controls (see Political Control) the required number of spaces in a Confederate State (as denoted on the map) AND no undestroyed resource spaces or open blockade runner ports exist in the state, the Union controls the state for Strategic Will purposes. Once a Confederate State changes control to the Union it stays that way for the remainder of the game. Border States (Missouri, West Virginia and Kentucky) start the 1861 and Campaign scenarios uncontrolled (neutral). Once a Border State is controlled by the Union player it becomes a Union state and cannot change sides |

Thanks. The rule says this: "The Confederate reinforcement rate is reduced by one for each Confederate State-not Border State—that is under Union control." That implies a return of the reinforcement SP if the Confederate regains control of an original state. Or did I miss something that says that original states once lost to the CSA cannot be regained? |

That is correct.. CSA permanently losses 1 reinforcement per Original state lost to the Union. |

OK. Separate question. Vassal is telling me that I only get 8 state reinforcements this next turn because Tennessee has been forcibly returned to the Union. True? |

I'm ok with your updates, re attrition.. |

Thanks Geoff: I have USA attrition different: After the last SRs, AoP strength was n8 (see Journal Entry 594), so after attrition of -2, AoP before strategic movements is n6. After taking 1SP casualty at the Battle of Kingston, AoTM strength was n6, so after attrition of -1, AoTM strength before strategic movements is n5. AoP = n6 AoC = n9 AotM = n5 AotT = n3 Fort Pulaski = n2 |
