Marc, I’m set up to being the game once we settle the couple of rule options I proposed. The 2nd email also has a line in it about the AA to go with the first email on AA. I may or may not get a move out today. I’ve got some things I planned to do which is why I said starting tomorrow. But, I might end up being ready for my SR once you get yours out of the way. |

Oops, forgot to rectify my LOC issues as part of this move. You can go ahead and punish me for it. I think the game will be over at the end of the turn as you will likely lose Virginia at that point. If you have a cool move you want to try, please go ahead, but I'm OK if we reset the game whenever you are ready. I assume you want another crack at the South, or are you ready for a break or some other game? |

Dude, you are right! While in the shower (I seem to have moments of clarity there) I realized I was confusing the cav mod withe the LOC mod. So, we both have 10’s and the Stonewall Brigade still goes away. AoP drop to 9 SP AoM drop to 4 SP Now general casualties. |
536 | 2/23/2021 7:34:00 AM | Fall 1863 | Confederate | Message |
Morning, Marc, let’s check the battle results at Knoxville. You would have +5 adds for Grant and 2 generals. You exceed you LOC so Grant’s attack factor is 1 instead of 3 + 2 generals = 3 total. Your dr 5 + 3 = 8 = 2* steps. I have 6 adds, not 7. Jackson’s 3 + 2 generals and Stonewall Brigade. My dr 2 +6 = 8 = 3 steps. AoP drops to 9. You bounce to Rodgersville and become 10 SP. AoM drops to 5 South has Knoxville but the Stonewall Brigade goes away. See what you think and let me know if I’m not thinking of something in relation to the attack and defense factors. |
535 | 2/22/2021 10:01:00 PM | Fall 1863 | Union | Message |
I figure you at a +7, so we each lose 3, but the +5 gives me the asterisk result. Interestingly, as a large battle, we each would have lost 5 and I still would have won, so you made the better call, at least to that roll! AoP 10; AoM 4. I assume you retreat to Cleveland. |

Request: 6-sided die x 2 5 2 Message from Union: Thanks, man. I keep going back and forth, and agree with your analysis. Tempting to knock you down to a 2 or 3, but I'd almost certainly be a 6. 7 SP is a lot to lose. I also seem to have a better chance of actually taking Knoxville in a medium battle, which seems one of the interesting anomalies of the CRT. So all that said, a medium battle in Knoxville, 1 SP remaining behind in Rogersville. |

Now I feel like a weinie for wanting to scale back. Way too wrapped up in the game here. Tell you what -- you decide if you stand and fight if you want a large or medium battle. If you don't mind, I'll scale back and fight a medium battle. You once told me it annoyed you when dan changed a move -- I hope this is minor enough to skate by. Leave a single SP in Rodgersville to make it 19. |

What the heck, this is US Grant in command, the man who can face the grim arithmetic. The AoP will us its last movement point to attack Knoxville for a large battle if I count that correctly 13-7. Decide if you fight, and the modifiers you will use. You get a +2 as I am beyond my LOC at this point. I will use my whole +5 |

Do you realize that is 4 medium battles in a row I’ve rolled double 1’s? I tell you, dice don’t like me. Grateful for the small losses for me but I’m not whittling you down worth a crap which is the forte for the South. A correction to the battle dr mods for the South. I double-checked the ironclad rule after I rolled to make sure it didn’t get killed. Low and behold I found it is only used in an amphibious assault! An incorrect rule understanding I’ve had for like four full and partial games. Man! So 2 dr adds for the South but it makes not difference in the battle outcome. Guess I’m kinda happy with the 1-1 roll this time. We both generate a 1 step loss so you end up with 7 SP at Paducah and I have 1 SP at Columbus fort. |

I was then going to run Longstreet down the valley to Knoxville to maintain a stopping for there.
