189 2/3/2021 1:16:00 PM Fall 1862 Union Message My only chance was to have won a medium battle, but it was too late in the game and I had to give up taking KY as some kind of poor prize. Had to try.

USA loses the game.

Without going into the SW, CSA taking of MO and WV, coupled with retention of MD more than offsets the USA getting Fort Fisher and destroying Columbus, GA.

CSA has a splendid win with more than twice the SW of the USA at the end of the Fall 1862.

A quick and decisive victory.
188 2/3/2021 1:11:00 PM Fall 1862 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #81: 3 / Emancipation Proclamation - Reshuffle/Remove
Either player must play this card as an EC on the Strategy Round immediately following a Union large or medium battle victory. Confederate loses 10 SW and 3 SPs (his choice). Union loses 5 SW. Flip GT marker to its Emancipation Proclamation side. Card must be the last one played by a player at which time it can be played as an OC card. If the play of this card as an OC results in a battle victory, there is no Emancipation Proclamation Remove from deck if event is played. If this card is played as an OC or discarded re-shuffle deck at the end of the Strategy Phase.

181 2/3/2021 12:35:00 PM Fall 1862 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #82: 3 / Foreign Intervention - Reshuffle/Remove
Either player can play this card as an EC when Confederate SW is 110+. If this is the last card in a players hand or the second to last and the player holds the Emancipation Proclamation, if the condition is met, it must be played as an EC, if not it can be played as an OC. EFFECTS: 1. Union Blockade reduced by one (cannot become greater than 4 for the remainder of the game). 2. Union -2 SP Reinforcements for the remainder of the game (Union choice). 3. Union SW reduced by 10. Remove from deck if event is played. If card is played as an OC or discarded re-shuffle deck at end of the Strategy Phase.

Message from Confederate:
If only the blockade DRs had not failed (granted, I needed 4 dive to come up 3-6), I could have played this card as an event for the second time ever in our games (I think). Alas, 'twas not to be.

I never really read the wording on the card this closely before. If the USA has this card, it says either player CAN play the card if CSA SW is 110+. So ... if the CSA is 110+, the USA player does not have to play it immediately! He can spend the turn trying to reduce CSA below 110 and then play it as ops. If the USA holds it all turn and could not get CSA below 110 then it must be played as ops.

There would be no advantage for CSA to hold the card if it is in his hand and the condition is met, but he could. Also, the CSA player could play it as ops even if the condition is met (hard to imagine that, but it would be legal). Finally, if it is clear that the CSA will not be able to get above 110 by the end of the turn, he can play it as ops anytime. Interesting ... how is it possible that I keep learning new stuff in this game???

All of that having been said ... CSA PCs in Greenville, Ironton, and Rolla MO.

I will set the deck to re-shuffle as well.

12.4: “During the Political Control Phase, the order of multiple SW effects in the same segment or step is determined by the player whom they affect.”

You maximized your SW. That was not the case for me. Best for me: -5 PA -3 cof so 93+ goes to 85-. Then +1 fort and +2 for cof would give me 88+.

I will adjust the SW track to reflect this and it will be in the file I send when I do my setup.

94 1/31/2021 8:53:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Message SW review. I messed up in JE 84 when I said USA SW was 100-. It was 90 and you must have reflected that at a later time.

CSA SW was at 107+ when your N. Atlantic BR failed. You lost 5, but stated CSA SW was 100-. It should be 102-.

I will change your SW to thatand the board will be right.
