In my past days I only played 3R4 and A3R for about 8 years, sent in lots of Q&A to get to 3R4 as the earlier versions were all but unplayable with large gaps in rules.

I found a Q&A in that file that takes the same position you do. So I will remove another infantry. Implying I should be happy I did not lose everything is a bit dubious. That result is a 3% probability event. And for a key roll like that one it is an utter disaster. Next to that consequence, you are right that 3 infantry factors are nothing.

Yes and normally on a D result ALL the defenders would be removed but in this case you only remove as many as the MODIFEID strength of the original defender. MY Modified strength was 6. This is way better than losing all your attackers.
