83 2/16/2021 10:05:00 AM Summer 1861 Union Message Dear Domenico, I hereby confirm your victory. You played very well and I still have a lot to learn. It was my last match in the tournament and I was not a really serious opponent yet. Nevertheless, I am glad that I participated and I will participate again in the next tournament. Then I will have more experience and maybe our games will be more exciting. I wish you good luck for the tournament. Your record looks very good and maybe you have a chance to win. You were also a very pleasant playing partner and very patient with me.

Best regards

Steffen

61 2/10/2021 10:27:00 AM Summer 1861 Confederate Message Steffen,
hello and I hope all is well with you.
The AoC should have 5 SPs at Pittsburgh at the start of the move (see Journal #39). After picking-up another 4 at Philadelphia it will have 9 SPs, not 11 SPs.
Thanks for a confirmation that this is the case.
Also, before I decide whether to intercept at Baltimore MD, please could you specify what path the AoC will take from Philadelphia PA (meaning, will it be going through York PA or through Wilmington DL)?
Thanks!

24 2/7/2021 9:41:00 AM Summer 1861 Confederate Message Summer 1861 Turn - Union Reinforcements
Note that the total Union reinforcement SP total is reduced by 1 (lost in the East, Central or West at the Union player’s choice) for Confederate Control of Annapolis MD as the space is a State Capital [11 .23].
As to Union Reinforcements in the East, these are reduced to 4rom 8 and not received at Washington DC: as Washington cannot trace a LOC via rail connections off the north map edge, the Union player receives 4 SPs (instead of the regular 8) and these must be placed in any friendly-controlled space in PA, DE or NJ free of Confederate SPs.

Spring 1861 Political Control Phase [3.4]
Political Control Determination Segment
1. Place PC markers in all spaces containing friendly SPs [11.1]
Confederates place Political Control markers at Frederick, Baltimore and Annapolis MD.
Determine Confederate and Border State control [12.1]
Confederates have 3 Political Control markers in the Union State of Maryland: Confederates gain 5 SW from 100 (+) SW to 105 (+) SW; Union lose 5 SW from 100 (-) SW to 95 (-) SW.
Union gains control of the Border State of Missouri: Union gains 10 SW plus 2 SW for Changing Fortunes of War, from 95 (-) SW to 107 (+) SW.
Union place Political Control markers at Springfield, Greenville and New Madrid (Is 10) MO.
(Note that the Union could take these SW changes in the reverse order, as follows:
For control of Missouri, Union gains 10 SW plus 2 SW for Changing Fortunes of War, from 100 (-) SW to 112 (+) SW; then for the raid on Maryland, Union lose 5 SW plus 3 SW for Changing Fortunes of War, from 112 (+) SW to 104 (-) SW.
I am assuming you prefer to be at 107 (+), but you have the option to be at 104 (-) SW if you prefer: let me know).
Spring 1861 Attrition Phase [9.0]
Union lose 2 SPs at Washington DC (3 SPs).
(Note: this is 1 SP for attrition and 1 SP for foraging as the space is isolated: see [6.63] POTOMAC RIVER…).
