62 2/25/2021 8:02:00 AM Fall 1861 Union Play Strategy card as Event #71: 3 / General Scott, The Anaconda Plan
The Union player may either increase the Blockade Level by one or increase the Amphibious Assault modifier by two.

Message from Union:
3U1: Play as an event and increase the Blockade Level by 1 from 0 to 1 now.

By the way, my card says that I could increase the Amphibious assault by "one" (not two). I noticed that in ACTS and on the card manifest several of these cards have changed the option to increase the amphibious assault modifier from one to two. (There is one or two cards that say to increase AA by two but most of them say one). I prefer the way the cards read.

Pemberton, Van Dorn and Price available as leaders. Roll for their ‘values’ in that order. Lowest value to Fayetteville, middle to Staunton, highest to Dover.
57 2/25/2021 3:57:00 AM Fall 1861 Confederate Message Strategic move SPs (New Bern) – Staunton, (Savannah) – Staunton, (Clarksville) – Louisville
56 2/25/2021 3:46:00 AM Fall 1861 Confederate Message >The only thing that I saw on your turn wrap up was the strategic will change for Forts St. Philip / Jackson. Union Strategic will went from 100- to 117+ for Missouri (+10) and West Virginia (+5) and +2 for the change. With the capture of the coastal fort it should go up 1 more to 118+. Confederate Strategic will drops one for the fort and -3 more for the change to negative and drops from 110+ to 106-.

The SW changes for state control were done by the system. Others we need to do manually?
55 2/23/2021 8:43:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Message Union Strategic movement:
1 SP from Fort St. Philip/Jackson (leaves 1 SP and Buell) by naval move to Baltimore (now 3 with Pope)
1 SP from Jefferson City, Mo by rail to Ironton, Mo (now 3 with Rosecrans)
1 SP from Charleston, WVa 10 spaces thru Pittsburg to the Army of Potomac at Washington, DC (now 3)
1 SP from Lewisburg, WVa 10 spaces to the Army of the Potomac at Washington, DC (now 4)
1 SP from Washington, DC by rail to Baltimore (now 4 with Pope and 3 in AoP)
1 SP from Washington, DC by rail to Frederick, Md,
(now 6 in fort with McClellan) AoP now 2.
1 SP from Parkersburg, WVa by rail to Ironton, Mo (now 4)
1 SP from Cairo (leaves 1 with Banks) to Ironton, Mo (now 5)
1 SP from Bloomington, IN to Ironton, Mo (now 6 with Rosecrans)
1 SP from Rolla, Mo by rail to Ironton, Mo (now 7 with Rosecrans)
54 2/23/2021 8:24:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Message No reinforcements for Fall 1861 but we still have strategic movement and for you, placement of some more leaders.
53 2/23/2021 8:22:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Message The only thing that I saw on your turn wrap up was the strategic will change for Forts St. Philip / Jackson. Union Strategic will went from 100- to 117+ for Missouri (+10) and West Virginia (+5) and +2 for the change. With the capture of the coastal fort it should go up 1 more to 118+. 52 2/23/2021 7:08:00 PM Fall 1861 Confederate Message Please check file. Then we are on to Union reinforcements.
51 2/23/2021 7:06:00 PM Summer 1861 Confederate End Turn
50 2/23/2021 7:05:00 PM Summer 1861 Confederate Message Political Control and Attrition changed on map. You get the other two Border States in your camp.
49 2/23/2021 6:54:00 PM Summer 1861 Confederate Message Smith will adapt that by dropping off 1SP at New Madrid or he will lose that space when you gain Missouri.
48 2/23/2021 6:49:00 PM Summer 1861 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #92: 2 / Baltimore Revolts
Confederate may place a friendly PC marker in Baltimore, MD, if the space is vacant.

Message from Confederate:
Smith heads west. Leaving 1SP behind, Smith and 3SP corps move (Dover) – Greenville.

Am starting on the end phases and will then send another file.
47 2/23/2021 4:16:00 PM Summer 1861 Union Message I believe that you did the attack on Ironton correctly. You won the battle but the CSA force was eliminated and under 7.33 B the attacker will occupy the space and end the move. I think you were well advised to try and avoid the battle but I was hoping you would roll more than a 1. Also, by 7.35 when an army or corp is eliminated the general is placed on the Game turn record track and brought back into play during the next reinforcement phase (except Conf cav generals). So you did this correctly.
46 2/23/2021 2:34:00 PM Summer 1861 Confederate Message So they each get a 1 result. As we have a tie the defender wins and Rosecrans would retreat to St Louis. However, Price now has no force so by 7.33B Rosecrans occupies Ironton. Price goes on to the next space of the turn tract as a reinforcement.

File sent. I'll do my final card play later. Feel free to confirm whether I have done this correctly.

Message from Confederate:
I find the way Att and Def work on the CRT in this game counterintuitive and in the first few battles of a game have to stop and think.

Price will attempt to retreat before battle to Greenville, This only occurs on a roll of 1.
43 2/22/2021 11:11:00 AM Summer 1861 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #26: 3 / Cotton is King
If played by Union, reduce Confederate SW by 2; if played by Confederate, Confederate immediately receives two SPs in any Blockade Runner port, no more than one SP per port, but more than 1SP per Blockade zone is permitted. If insufficient ports are available, the excess SPs are lost. Remove from deck if event is played.

Message from Union:
2U5: Use this to activate Rosecrans at Salem/Vandalia. He takes all 5 SPs and moves:
1. St. Louis and picks up Fremont
2. Jefferson City, Mo where he drops 1 SP
3. Lexington, Mo where he drops 1 SP
4. Kansas City, Mo where he drops 1 SP
5. Springfield Mo where he drops 2 SPs and Fremont and moves alone to
6. Rolla where he picks up 1 SP and leaves 1 SP
7. St. Louis where he picks up the 2 SPs there (now 3 SPs)
8. Ironton where he tries to battle Price.
Price could try and do a discretionary retreat.
Battle at Ironton would be a small battle.
Union with 3 SPs and +3 for Rosecrans and 3-1 odds.
Confederate with 1 SP and +1 for Price. You may have a card that would interrupt or affect the battle so I will let you roll or retreat.
42 2/22/2021 6:21:00 AM Summer 1861 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #95: 2 / Strategy Board
Union player may make a naval move with up to three SPs plus one general.

Message from Confederate:
Place PCs in Kansas City and Lexington.
41 2/21/2021 12:23:00 AM Summer 1861 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #47: 3 / CSA Recognizes KY, MO, MD and DE
Confederate places a total of two SPs in any single space in KY, MO, MD or DE that contains a general or army in these states. The space can be controlled by either side or neutral and does not require a LOC. Remove from deck if event is played.

Message from Union:
Use this as operations to activate Halleck in Cincinnati. He will take all 6 SPs and move:
1. Washington, Ohio
2. Jackson, Ohio
3. Parkersburg, WVa where he drops 1 SP
4. Charleston, WVa where he drops 1 SP
5. Lewisburg, WVa where he drops 1 SP
6. Franklin, WVa where he drops 1 SP
7. Grafton, WVa where he stops with the remaining 2 SPs.
40 2/20/2021 6:21:00 PM Summer 1861 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #19: 1 / Belmont
Either player may move up to two infantry SPs from the same space as if led by a General. This move is a Corps move and may enter enemy controlled spaces because the SPs are moving as if they are led by a general.

Message from Confederate:
Place a PC in Lewisburg.
39 2/19/2021 6:18:00 PM Summer 1861 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #29: 2 / Crittenden Compromise
Union places (or flips in border states) two PC markers in any spaces free of Confederate SPs or forts which are not Resource spaces, Blockade Runner Ports, or Coastal forts. Void after Emancipation Proclamation. Remove from deck if event is played.

Message from Union:
2U3: Use this to activate Pope at Harper's Ferry. He will leave the 2 SPs there in the fort and move:
1. Fredericksburg
2. Washington, DC and pick up 4 SPs (leaving 5 in AoP)
3. Fredericksburg where he drops off 4 (now 6 with McClellan in the fort)
4. Washington DC where he picks up 3 more SPs (leaving 2 in the AoP)
5. Baltimore where he drops off 2 SPs
6. York where he drops off the remaining 1 SP
7. Back to Baltimore joining the 2 SPs there.
38 2/19/2021 3:00:00 AM Summer 1861 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #30: 3 / Glory Hallelujah
Union immediately receives three SPs for raising Negro troops. The SPs can be placed in any Union controlled space (even one without a LOC) that doesn’t contain a Confederate SP or fort.

Message from Confederate:
In response a fort is built at New Orleans.
37 2/17/2021 9:27:00 PM Summer 1861 Union Message Porter and Buell get extremely lucky and win the amphibious assault with a 1* - 0 result and avoid any significant losses. Buell and 2 Union SPs occupy Forts St. Philip/Jackson. I think that technically I don't control the fort yet because I don't have a PC marker in the space but that will happen during the political control determination phase at the end of the turn (if I don't use an operation to place a PC marker there before the turn end). This will impact your ability to move across the Mississippi at that time and will change SW by the capture of a coastal fort 12.11.

Message from Union:
Union amphibious assault against Forts St. Philip/ Jackson, La.:
The amphibious assault modifier:
Confederates get +2 for the fort. Union gets +2 for Porter + 0 for the current Union amphibious modifier. So, the net amphibious modifier is zero.
1st roll attacking Union force under Buell with 2 SPs and +5 die roll modifier (+4 for attacking an ungarrisoned fort + 1 for Buell)
2nd roll defending ungarrisoned Confederate fort with 0 SPs and no adds. (without Porter it would be +2 for the fort)
35 2/17/2021 9:05:00 PM Summer 1861 Union Play Strategy card as Event #58: 2 / Admiral Porter
Union may make a naval move with up to three SPs plus one general. If an amphibious assault occurs, you receive an additional +2 DRM. Add +2DRM to any Running the Guns die roll.

Message from Union:
2U2: Use this as an event to take Buell and the 2 SPs at Baltimore and conduct an amphibious assault against Forts Philip/Jackson. Porter gives a +2 DRM and this should be automatic since there is more than one Union SP.
34 2/17/2021 7:17:00 PM Summer 1861 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #42: 2 / Kentucky Anarchy
Remove up to three enemy PC markers in Kentucky. You must also remove one of your own PC markers from the state if you have any there. Removal of a PC marker makes a space neutral. Remove from deck if event is played.

Message from Confederate:
Play for PCs in WVa: Grafton and Parkersburg.
33 2/17/2021 1:10:00 AM Summer 1861 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #77: 2 / Stop the War
Union SW reduced by five points. Remove from deck if event is played.

Message from Union:

Stuart to Culpeper.

Roll 1-3 Bragg in Dover, Smith in Richmond. Roll 4-6 reversed.

29 2/14/2021 9:51:00 PM Summer 1861 Union Message With Fort Monroe in Union hands, I think the blockade runner SP cannot come into Norfolk but he could enter at New Bern or Wilmington, NC.
28 2/14/2021 4:22:00 PM Summer 1861 Union Message Stuart can go where you want him since he is the only cavalry general and you know from the back that it is a cavalry general.
27 2/14/2021 2:14:00 PM Summer 1861 Confederate Message CSA General placement.

Am not sure whether Stuart is placed in a different way to the other two. I know from the back of the counter that he is a Cav General?

Can I put (randomly) one of Bragg/Smith in Dover and the other in Richmond and Stuart in Culpepper, or do I have to include Stuart in the randomness?
26 2/14/2021 2:03:00 PM Summer 1861 Confederate Message

22 2/14/2021 12:43:00 AM Spring 1861 Union Message Banks with 708 is highest roll and goes to Cairo
Buell with 56 is the lowest roll and goes to Baltimore
Burnside with 419 is the 4th number from the bottom and goes to Pittsburg
Halleck with 553 is the 5th number from the bottom and goes to Cincinnati
MeClellan with 167 is the 2nd lowest and goes to Frederick, Md
Pope with 212 is the 3rd from the lowest and goes to Harper's Ferry
Rosecrans with 609 is the next to highest and he goes to Salem/Vandalia, Ill.
Not the best placement but not the worst either. You only get 2 regular generals and one cavalry general which should be much easier. I thought about using Vassal's general placement but if I didn't like the placement I think I could just redo the log file. This will be better to use ACTS.

20 2/14/2021 12:18:00 AM Spring 1861 Union Message I had trouble with the Vassal file too. It stopped before the turn 2 reinforcements so I sent another file.
19 2/12/2021 2:14:00 PM Spring 1861 Confederate Message I'm having trouble with your log file.

After the two attrition impacts I get:

- Now for reinforcements for turn 2.

An then just click the green arrow continuously seeing nothing happen. Does your file show the Union reinforcements being placed? If so, do a .vsav at that point and send it to me. If not, I'll place your reinforcements and see if that works.

Confederate corp at Manassas drops 1 from 3 to 2 SPs
15 2/11/2021 4:02:00 PM Spring 1861 Union Play Strategy card as Event #35: 1 / Elite Units
Place an Elite unit marker in any space with an Army. CSA: Stonewall Bde or Hood’s Tigers. USA: Iron Bde or Wilder’s Bde. Cannot be played if all elite unit markers are in play for that side.

Message from Union:
1U4: Use this to place the Iron brigade with the Army of the Potomac as I can't prevent Kentucky from going with the Confederates. Four 1's this turn. You had a much better hand.
14 2/11/2021 2:20:00 PM Spring 1861 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #67: 2 / J.B. Eads, Riverine Ironclads

Message from Union:
1U3: I will use this to place a fort at Harper's Ferry. I would have welcomed the chance to play Forward to Richmond at this point in the game.
11 2/10/2021 7:49:00 AM Spring 1861 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #3: 1 / Forward to Richmond
Union may activate any Union army within 4 spaces of Richmond, VA. The army must enter Richmond or move as close to Richmond as possible, but may convert spaces to maintain an LOC. All SPs associated with the army must be moved (no dropping off SPs), except 1 SP may be left if the Army began its movement from a fort (if last SP, move completed). If played by the Confederate, he draws a card from the Union hand which is discarded, and the Union player follows the instructions of this card as his next card play.

Message from Confederate:
This can be quite a card, but for now I want to use the PCs. Place one in Somerset.
10 2/9/2021 2:42:00 PM Spring 1861 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #65: 1 / Union 90-Day Enlistments Expire
