18.0 Play Note for 6.4 Amphibious Assaults 1-1: This is a case for ungarrisoned forts, where the number of invading SPs makes a difference in the outcome. If there is only 1 Union SP the Amphibious invasion fails, due to rule 7.32, and 6.81 does not apply since there are no surviving SP. If there are 2 or more Union SP, then the Amphibious invasion succeeds due to 6.81 since there is a surviving Union SP. Whew, took some looking and with my eyes it was hard. Defender elim is a bit confusing :) The result is 1/1 on the small battle table, so the defender wins but is eliminated. According to 7.33 A the defender wins and the attacker retreats one space. So Halleck and 3 SP retreat and lose one additional SP, so the Fort is alone at Dover and 4 SP/Halleck are at Clarksville. |
