151 4/14/2021 8:42:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Message Very clever going in with a small battle as it limits the damage I can do back in a way I had not forseseen.
But your second attack will be a medium battle, as you have 4 to my 2, and you will need to roll as the ratios will be different.
You could leave 1 behind and continue the small battle strategy as well, b ut you have no LOC beyond Shreveport.

150 4/14/2021 8:41:00 AM Spring 1862 Confederate Message Lee wins once again and both forces lose 1 SP so Le has 3 SP now, This sends Rosecrans to the Turn track for turn 5.

I am now up to 6 mp used.,

Lee will move to Shreveport and drop 1 SP and then return to Marshall with 2 SP and Price.
149 4/14/2021 8:30:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Message If that 3 is the Marshall die roll, it adds +3 for a 7.

Well, small miracles.... roll you a 1 = 0 steps loss for me.
Lee takes Shreveport.

Lee will take the same 4 SP and attack Marshall with the same +8 dr adds. Once again I will have the best I can do against you at 1*.

You have a +1 due to Rosecrans so I roll 1 dr for you.

146 4/14/2021 8:13:00 AM Spring 1862 Confederate Play Strategy card as Event #85: 3 / Minor Campaign
Conduct up to two moves or conduct one special army-size naval move. No SP, general, or army marker may be moved twice with the same campaign card. You must move a different force each move.

Message from Confederate:
4C7 - Event

I thought of a number of things to do but I decided to use discretion for the most part.

1st activation
Hanover - Activate the ANV @ 8 SP. Move to:
1. Richmond and drop 1 SP + Stuart (1 SP) = 2 SP. 6 in ANV
2. Move to Petersburg & drop 2 SP. ANV = 4 SP
3. To Richmond
4. To Williamsburg and drop 2 SP. ANV = 2 SP
5. Return to Hanover with 2 SP.

2nd Activation
Vicksburg - Activate Lee and his 2 SP and move to:
1. Little Rock and pick up the 2 SP there = 4 SP. He also picks up Price by default.
2. Move to Camden and then attack Shreveport at 4 to 1.
(5 MP so far)
145 4/13/2021 11:35:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #54: 1 / CSS Virginia

Lebanon - Activate A. Johnston & move him alone to:

1.Dover and pick up 1 SP - leaves 1 SP
2. Move to Nashville and pick up Morgan = 2 SP total
3. Return to Lebanon which is not at 5 SP.
143 4/13/2021 11:08:00 AM Spring 1862 Confederate Message Marc, two things on the army creation. I had the Louisville space at 5 SP which entry 110 supports. I suspect you didnít move one for attrition or something like that unless you know I missed something.

Also, the army creation would cost you 2 SW since Fremont is on the map. (5.22). Iíll adjust the SW

Message from Union:

141 4/13/2021 7:26:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Message That is an interesting and distribution, isn't it? Almost like greater powers at work here!
Thanks for the compliment -- I did have my eye on Texas as soon as the river opened, though the buildup was precautionary as well. I figured it would pull troops east, but that has its own dangers.

140 4/13/2021 7:18:00 AM Spring 1862 Confederate Play Strategy card as Event #20: 3 / Union Arms Production Delayed
Confederate removes two Union SPs (Confederate chooses). No more than one SP can be removed from a space and the SP cannot be the last SP in the space.

Message from Confederate:
4C5 - Event

Remove 1 SP from:
Paducah = 1 SP left
Marshal = 1 SP left

Funny we should both get this type card in the same turn.
I donít know if you meant the large number of troops in the east as a feint to grab Tx., but it ended up leaving me thin in the West when I could use a couple more SP. Dang it! Well done.
139 4/12/2021 5:47:00 PM Spring 1862 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #56: 1 / CSS Hunley
Place the CSS Hunley marker in any friendly port. Provides a +1 DRM to Confederate during next amphibious assault. Remove Hunley once modifier has been used. No more than one Hunley can be in play at a given time.

MV Winchester, attack Johnston. I have a +5, (+2 for LOC, +2 ratio, +1 leader) which makes elimination automatic.
I'll roll for Johnston at a +2 to see how he does ...

Build a fort at Lebanon to help out A. Johnston

A contractor is coming at 3PM and I have no idea what that will do for my evening schedule. If you donít hear from me donít worry, I just got tied up and then likely Iím spending the time with my sweet little wife as you do.. Weíre such good boys!
93 4/8/2021 1:36:00 PM Fall 1861 Confederate Message Afternoon, Marc! Just to let you know Iím starting on another project of some size making some special shelves for the wife. Youíll likely find Iíll have time stretches in the afternoon Iíll not send a move so I can have time to consider it as I work.

Now, more important. I just looked at the turn track and realized I did not bring in Van Dorn and Pemberton. Shame on me. My plan was to put both in the ANV and that is where I will send them now. With my crappy dr for the battle with the ANV it would have made no difference so itís a wash for that. In the ANV that gives me:
Beauregard commanding
Smith 2nd in command
Van Dorn
Pembberton
Stuart Cavalry
92 4/8/2021 8:21:00 AM Fall 1861 Union Message Turnabout is fair play, I suppose. I lose 2, you lose 1 and end stacked with Burnside in Louisville.

90 4/8/2021 7:47:00 AM Fall 1861 Confederate Message Iíll stay in Lebanon for the fight. I will let you roll it though just for the reason you stated you like my rolls!
89 4/8/2021 7:31:00 AM Fall 1861 Union Message Oops, Called is Halleck in auto-correct.

88 4/8/2021 7:31:00 AM Fall 1861 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #27: 3 / Choctaw Indians
Confederate randomly removes one strategy card from the Union playerís hand, which is discarded.

Message from Union:
Activate Called, 4 SP Cairo.
MV Jonesboro, Salem, Vincennes, Bloomington (pick up 2 SP), Louisville, Lebanon.
We have another fight! To you have a card or a retreat up your sleeve? If not, feel free to roll if you like (I've been liking your rolls!) or let me know and I will certainly do the honors.
87 4/8/2021 7:26:00 AM Fall 1861 Union Message Just doing what I can until Lee gets here!
86 4/8/2021 7:10:00 AM Fall 1861 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #108: 2 / Richmond Bread Riots
Confederate player loses 2 SW. Remove from deck if event is played.

Message from Confederate:

Hanover - Move the ANV into Richmond. ANV = 4 SP now and Smith is now part of the command.

I had a nice little war going until you did that last move!
85 4/7/2021 5:36:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Message Finally, SW cost for large battle:

CSA 103+ to 95-
USA 90- to 95 +

I'm math challenged, but I think that's right!
84 4/7/2021 3:05:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Message Drop 2 at Strasburg, back to Manassas total of 7 SP in AoP
You are up!

83 4/7/2021 3:04:00 PM Fall 1861 Confederate Message Go ahead and roll it out as I fail the intercept. We are going out to eat and I need to change.

This is not starting as a good turn for me at all. Good move on your part. Just wish I could roll worth a damn..

Interception with J. Johnston at Strasburg. Need < 3
81 4/7/2021 2:57:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Message Leave 2 SP in Fredericksburg
MV 4 to Manassas
MV 5 to Strasburg.
Do you intercept with J Johnston?
80 4/7/2021 2:34:00 PM Fall 1861 Confederate Message I will use the auto retreat option after losing a battle and back up to Hanover.
79 4/7/2021 1:46:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Message Forgot I left 1 in DC to start with, so just 1 SP stays in Manassas so I can attack with 10.

78 4/7/2021 1:37:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Message Wow, thanks for the roll!
I certainly have to take advantage of that turn of events, so the first thing I will do is convert Manassas, leave 2 of my 12 SP there4 and attack Fredericksburg with 10.
Retreat?
77 4/7/2021 1:04:00 PM Fall 1861 Confederate Message Correction on my ANV value, Marc. I have 2 SP in the ANV, not 3.
76 4/7/2021 12:57:00 PM Fall 1861 Confederate Message It figures, no better on the die to speak of this turn. Worst two rolls possible in a row. You see why I donít gamble for money.

North = modified 8 = 4 steps loss to me
South = modified 4 = 3 steps.

AoP drops to 12 SP
ANV drops to 3 SP
I back up to Fredericksburg. What do you do sir? Weíll get to the SW gain in a minute.

73 4/7/2021 12:18:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #42: 2 / Kentucky Anarchy
Remove up to three enemy PC markers in Kentucky. You must also remove one of your own PC markers from the state if you have any there. Removal of a PC marker makes a space neutral. Remove from deck if event is played.

Message from Union:
A risky manúuvre, but worth it, I think. Activate AoP, attack Manasses with 14 of 15.
I figure large battle +2 for me, counting the Iron Brigade and one subordinate, +3 for you.
You have the option to attempt retreat or play a cancel card if you like ...
72 4/7/2021 9:50:00 AM Fall 1861 Confederate Message Okay Marc, you go first.

Are you still doing morning therapy from 9-11?

69 4/7/2021 7:02:00 AM Fall 1861 Confederate Message Morning Marc,

You seem eager to do something with the AoP this turn, especially boosting their command structure with Curtis and Stoneman. Only problem is we are just starting turn 3, Fall of 1861 and those two arrive on Spring of Ď62. Jasper been at your board again? (I know, Iím an ass! :)

That said, you no doubt had a master plan in your SR that likely considered those generals and your troop shuffling. Before I do my SR Iíll hold off until I hear back from you. If you wish to redo your SR feel free to do so. Itís not a big deal. I know you have your cards but donít let that interfere with changing your SR.
