596 9/11/2021 12:21:00 PM Summer 1864 Union Message I'm sure that card analysis is well thought but it just takes in account what each card is worth without considering that much if it matters on board whether it is 1OP or 3OP. CSA wont care, at least when Lee arrives, that much whether their hand is all 1's or all 3's. I think that they pretty much need a single 3 in their hand to build that critical fort if needed. And of course, all their meaningful generals are 1's and 2's and even VD is activated with 1. So that card analysis might value their hand at 10 but you pretty much are able to do everything you want to accomplish in given turn.

Union of course loves 3OP cards and campaigns even more. But when the CSA dont care if the card is 1OP or 3OP, Unios has the opposite problem. Say that they get nice events but which are 1OP or 2OP worth. Now they are pretty much crippled without ability to move although the analysis would rate their hand big because of their nice events.

But yeah, both got good hands and both got bad hands.
595 9/11/2021 12:04:00 PM Summer 1864 Confederate Message Until turn 9, I count
USA: 20 3OP ; 16 2OP ; 21 1OP. 1 Major and 2 Minor campaign.
CSA: 17 3OP ; 24 2OP ; 16 1OP. 1 Major and 2 Minor campaign.
Not a gap between USA and CSA.

More interesting is the value of the hands. For example “Union 90-Day Enlistments Expire” is a 1OP card but has not the same value for USA and CSA.
A very good player, Domenico Licheri, did an interesting analysis of this game, including the value of card (arbitrary values assigned to Cards if you play USA or CSA, but quit representative I think).
If I take the example of “Union 90”, it has a value of 1 for USA and 3 for CSA.
When I look back at a game, I use it to check “potential value” of my hands and if I played them correctly.
I note that often, it follows the course of a game. Take a look at our game
USA CSA
Spring 1861 12 12
Summer 1861 14 11
Fall 1861 30 17
Spring 1862 31 25
Summer 1862 30 18
Fall 1862 17 27
Spring 1863 27 17
Summer 1863 18 31
Fall 1863 17 18
Spring 1864 35 24

At the beginning, USA had potential better hands until Summer 1862. We found this difference on the board. USA position was better than CSA.
Then cards became better for CSA, and CSA improved its position. Until Spring 1864 and the complete disaster for CSA.

My point is not at all to minimize your deserved victory. Just to emphasize that USA and CSA did a good use of their hand when they had a card advantage.

Good luck for the final.
594 9/11/2021 8:29:00 AM Summer 1864 Union Message gg then

I'm quite amazed I managed to win this game taking how CSA-favored the dice and cards too were for the first 9 turns. I'm just relieved it didn't take longer to finally start to even out.
