1650 4/25/2022 11:30:00 AM 1813-1814 Russia Message Wow, thought for sure I had lost (although partially that's because I missed that France had to spend a Resource to save Brussels - so glad for that Drought). Definitely one of the weirdest games of TNW I've ever played!
1649 4/25/2022 6:54:00 AM 1813-1814 Austria Message Well done Daniel

I am sorry I have been less than responsive this last turn, but, you know
1648 4/24/2022 6:44:00 PM 1813-1814 Prussia Message Congrats Russia. You should've had it at the end of Turn 4. I almost had it at the end of Turn 4, but for a well-timed response card from Britain saved the Austrian capital from the Turks. (We won't speak of the subsequent French impulse).
1647 4/24/2022 4:10:00 PM 1813-1814 France Message Looks right. Congrats Russia!

1640 4/24/2022 3:48:00 PM 1813-1814 Britain Britain: Play Strategy card as Operations #33: 3 / General's Health
Void the Battle Rating of any Commander for the rest of this Impulse (including its effect on any just-rolled intercept or evasion attempt). Subordinate Army Commanders may not substitute their rating for the stricken leader. Not applicable to the Nelson event or to rerolls of battle dice.

Message from Britain:
Wellington would rather do something than nothing so Yes to another Siege, but first, we'll try and bring that 1 last unit over. Don't worry about a thing, boys, just charge when I say charge!
3: The 1 unit in Cornwall amphibious assaults Brest.
I'll roll the shore batteries...
1639 4/24/2022 11:24:00 AM 1813-1814 France Message France passes

Now for the all important siege of Brest!

To my Allies: I had no intention of trying to win the game at the start of the turn. On the contrary, I placed my scant naval forces to aid you both. After you both went, I saw a slim opportunity for victory with the cards I possessed and took advantage. I hope this did not create any long term negative feelings. Wellington will probably snatch the victory away from me and reward Russia.
1638 4/24/2022 9:48:00 AM 1813-1814 Austria Sweden: Play Strategy card as Operations #96: 2 / Tipping the Scales
Immediately following the Resource Gain attempt die roll of ANY Army Rout, roll a die. You may spend that many CPs on the Diplomatic Track to move any Consul(s) in either direction. A die roll of 6 is needed to break Pact status.

1603 4/8/2022 1:34:00 PM 1813-1814 Russia Message I discarded this:

3 / Lost Dispatch
Roll a die. That many enemy Units/leaders of their Commander's choice do not appear in the first round of battle and are unaffected by losses therefrom. If the battle is lost, they must retreat with the survivors of the battle. If no Units/leaders remain to give battle, none is fought and they retreat. If a second round is fought, they participate normally.
1602 4/8/2022 7:43:00 AM 1813-1814 Prussia Message Pete: Nevermind. I figured you probably drew the Duke with House of Rothchild. Oh, well.
1601 4/8/2022 7:41:00 AM 1813-1814 Prussia Message OK, a lot happened recently, and I was trying to speed the game along by playing fast without hearing from everyone, so here is what I see as the "to do" list:

1) Gareth: Sweden is up, they can't be preempted because they're only holding a reserve. Aslo, is the Austrian "card" their "subject neutral reserve"? If yes, you're fine, if no, is must be droughted away.

2): Bruce: Drought away the French and Danish cards.

3): Daniel: What was the Russian card that was droughted away?

4): Pete: Why didn't you play the Duke as a response when the Danish pact was in danger?
1600 4/8/2022 7:38:00 AM 1813-1814 Prussia Spain: Play Strategy card as Operations #87: 4 / Corn Riots
A nation of your choice must Regroup Forces/Squadrons equal to a die roll. If unable to do so, it must instantly build enough to Regroup or Submit. Flags can be removed for compliance, but they must be markers - not inherent flags. A Neutral Proxy removes Flags, Units, Leaders, and Squadrons in that order. If needed, a Neutral Proxy uses randomly drawn cards from its hand to build Units and will then use its Resources and/or Reserve in that order if necessary.

Message from Prussia:

Roll a die. If your roll greater than the number of Enemy Forces in Spain, Lisbon, Oporto, and Gibraltar, draw two cards. You must play one of them. Otherwise, draw a card which you may play or keep. Not playable in 1805. RESERVE

Message from Prussia:
Since Britain will decline to respond, I will proceed with Spain. Automatic "win" here since I didn't declare war on France.
1596 4/8/2022 6:18:00 AM 1813-1814 Britain Message > "in theory Britain could dump one card, play a response with the other, and end the game."

Britain declines to do that.

1594 4/8/2022 6:15:00 AM 1813-1814 Britain Britain: Play Strategy card as Operations #102: 2 / Duke d'Enghien Affair
No Power may join the Imperial Camp in the next Interphase. All Consuls on an Imperial nation's row of the Diplomatic Track not already in Pact status move one box to the left. If the Consul is in +1 status, it is also flipped to its normal side. Unlike other diplomatic events, this may be played during the first round of 1805.

Message from Britain:

And there goes my last card, which is fine as it was unlikely to do me much good anyway.
1591 4/7/2022 7:22:00 PM 1813-1814 Russia Message I'll pause here to let everyone dump their drought cards and to let Britain place their Shilling. (I suspect Beresford will show up in Brussels).

Brussels is "Uncontrolled" and not "Friendly", so they can't do that.
1590 4/7/2022 5:31:00 PM 1813-1814 Prussia Message I'll pause here to let everyone dump their drought cards and to let Britain place their Shilling. (I suspect Beresford will show up in Brussels).

Spain is up next, but in theory Britain could dump one card, play a response with the other, and end the game. Or Spain gets to go and play the Peninsula Campaign and draw two cards, and everyone gets to agonize over whether they need to spend a reserve or not.
1589 4/7/2022 5:28:00 PM 1813-1814 Prussia Message So, if Britain hadn't played House of Rothchild, I could have ended the game right there. Oh well.

I show Austria as having one card, but if memory serves, they did the whole "subject neutral mulligan" thing, and I am not 100% sure whether they played the card designated as their "reserve" card yet. Everyone else needs to dump one: France, Britain, Russia, Denmark. Turkey has one card, and Spain, Prussia, Sweden and maybe Austria have a reserve.
1588 4/7/2022 5:24:00 PM 1813-1814 Prussia Turkey: Play Strategy card as Event #6: 4 / Drought
All other nations must discard one card of their choice if they have any. Non-Pact Proxies discard randomly. Ends Mud event.

Message from Prussia:
I will also play this for the event, so everyone gets one less card.
1587 4/7/2022 5:24:00 PM 1813-1814 Prussia Message I currently show Turkey as having 2 leaders, and 7 units in regroup. If wrong, please correct me.

Britain and Turkey currently have two cards each, so no one has preempt. Britain could respond right now, but I highly recommend against it, and Turkey will go.
1586 4/7/2022 5:22:00 PM 1813-1814 Prussia Prussia: Play Strategy card as Event #21: 2 / The King's Shilling
If not yet in play, place Beresford or Hill in any friendly British Home or Associate Duchy of the British Player's choice.

Message from Prussia:
To make things interesting, I'll play this for the event.
1585 4/7/2022 5:22:00 PM 1813-1814 Prussia Message I'm back home. I've decided I won't play a coordinated kingmaker strategy, and I'll let the chips fall where they may.
1584 4/7/2022 5:53:00 AM 1813-1814 Prussia Message I can play kingmaker, but I need help, and Iím not sure if my plan is legal.

My plan involves declaring war on France, and flagging Nassau. Thatís the part Iím not sure is legal or not, so thatís what I am asking consequences of (and whether the coalition would have me).

Then Iíd need Britain to play a response card. That the help I need. If that is legal and Britain/coalition is cooperative, Iíll execute, otherwise Iíll go to plan B which may or may not work.
1583 4/6/2022 2:54:00 PM 1813-1814 Britain Message ... however, IIRC Britain might have the preempt depending on how things go, so that might be an option.
1582 4/6/2022 2:09:00 PM 1813-1814 Britain Message London does have a response card, but I need the CP's unless there is some super-compelling alternative plan.
1581 4/6/2022 1:22:00 PM 1813-1814 Russia Message That's what I have, and Minor Forces hasn't changed the points yet since no flag was placed.
1580 4/6/2022 1:20:00 PM 1813-1814 Prussia Message I have it in my head that France has a two point lead over Russia, but that was before Minor Forces, so Iím asking for clarification.
1579 4/6/2022 1:17:00 PM 1813-1814 Prussia Message Prussia will not intercept the Minor Forces.

I am out of town visiting my Mom and away from my Map, but I should be returning tomorrow. I am at a bit of a crossroads for what to do for the Prussian turn, and desperately need to know the French and Russian point count, (because Britain, Austria, and I are doomed). I would also like to know the consequences of declaring war on France, whether the coalition would have me, and if Britain could play a response card before their turn.

I ask those things because I have several course-of-action options, (and to buy time to get home and look at my map).
1578 4/5/2022 3:54:00 PM 1813-1814 Russia Russia: Play Strategy card as Event #7: 4 / Minor Forces
Place two Units of an Associate Duchy in that Duchy. They attack any non-friendly Formations present without evasion and before any interception is attempted.

Message from Russia:
I'll place 2 British units in Brussels. Prussia could intercept them but I'm hoping she has no wish to help defend French territory from the resistance movement....
1577 4/5/2022 5:47:00 AM 1813-1814 Britain Message Looks right to me.
1576 4/3/2022 10:07:00 PM 1813-1814 Russia Message Looks like that affects:

1 in Gibraltar
Mustafa in Lodz
Yusuf/3 in Straslund

adding both leaders and 4 units to the 3 OTT units already there. Looks like SQ and flags are unaffected. Agreed? Anything I missed before I go?
1575 4/2/2022 6:58:00 PM 1813-1814 Austria Austria: Play Strategy card as Foreign War #5: 4 / Serbian Revolt
Turkish Formations may not exit Turkey while this event is in play. Those outside Turkey Regroup. Any unspent odd CP of a Turkish Neutral build is used to attempt to end this Foreign War instead of placing the +1 CP marker. The +1 CP marker, if already in play, is removed. Add #1 to all attempts to end Turkish Foreign Wars (but not the Serbian Revolt) while this event is in play.

1572 4/2/2022 5:36:00 PM 1813-1814 France Message What are we waiting on?
1571 3/31/2022 6:08:00 PM 1813-1814 Prussia Message Turkey has two cards, and after they go, everyone is holding a reserve, so there is not really an opportunity to preempt, and the Turks have no desire to preempt Prussia.

I guess it doesnít matter if Britain plus-plays or not, I wonít get my desired outcome regardless.
1570 3/31/2022 2:07:00 PM 1813-1814 Russia Message My advice is to be able to preempt after Russia's move.
1569 3/31/2022 1:31:00 PM 1813-1814 Britain Message I would need a clearer hint.
1568 3/31/2022 1:03:00 PM 1813-1814 Prussia Message Pete, are you *sure* you don't want to play a card?

1555 3/25/2022 10:23:00 AM 1813-1814 Prussia Spain: Play Strategy card as Operations #86: 3 / Patriotic Fervor
Select any nation without a card to draw a card from the deck.

Message from Prussia:
1). 2u from Granada to the Gibraltar mill - more cannon fodder needed!
2-3). Castanos flees from the repulsive blue flag in Lisbon to go home to Madrid.

No preempt, as France/Turks have 2 each. Go Sweden.
1554 3/25/2022 10:21:00 AM 1813-1814 Prussia Message Sorry, there. I was trying to decide what to do, and I somehow discarded my card instead of backing out. Fortunately, when I returned the card to my hand, the exact card was visible, so no one will accuse me of trying some elaborate Council of Dresden to swap cards.

After much thought, I'm going to play it anyway.
