Hi Brian...Hmm...looks like our maps are out of sync. While it would be possible to press onwards, I'm going to concede. You're up 10 points on the board (assuming you can occupy Antwerp) with lots of other nearby AP spaces (Florence and Rome itself) within easy reach. You've outplayed me for sure, and while I could probably languish for a turn or two longer the writing is clearly on the wall here. Sorry for my many missteps, but I clearly learning a lot, especially how the CP can win decisively without completely using the "Hammer Paris" strategy. Wel, that WAS my plan with Italy... but you wisely took a shot against Verona before the other AP forces could show up. The other part of my plan was to entrench belgrade with the event card and/or get Italy into the war at the very start of limited war. Buuut, you were shred enough to pre-empt me in both cases. Still, I'm learning a lot and getting used to some of the interplay between cards. Thanks for the comments and coaching, this is really helping me remember the key elements/events in the game. |

In other words there's nothing fundamentally wrong with when you entered Italy this turn, although I think in this case because I didn't have a full stack in Trent (or anywhere else on the border) yet at the very beginning of the turn, that entering on AP1 would likely have worked out better -- because then you'd have AP2 to SR some FRcs down to help shore up your trenches before I could really muster an attack -- since that's the preferred way to defend Italy is with some FRcs (or sometimes BRcs) on top of the piles -- and that also helps later on in Total War when I get that special Italian "trenchbuster" but only works if everybody in the trench is Italian. Finally, since Venice isn't a VP site I'd have been more likely to head for Bologna and Genoa (to protect the ability to SR things down from France -- BR/FR armies can't enter Italy before you draw Total War cards, but their corps can) |

Sorry about that, I forgot to move the GE12. So, Sedan is the easier target, right? I'm showing GE(4) and GE9, firing on 9A with the trench shift.
