Dear Charles, Thank you for the time and thought that you put into your message. I greatly appreciate it. I apologize for over reacting. This game sometimes drives me up a wall. This is my 8th or 9th attempt and every time I think I have the major rules and exceptions, the minor rules and exceptions, and the minutiae in hand something else pops up (GE total war bonus, for example, which I have yet to find in the rulebook) or I forget something. Please believe me when I say that I appreciate your effort as a coach. I do think that I am slowly, too slowly, getting a grasp of the beast. As for having an approach, all I can say is that it is not a conscious one. In my opinion, much of the flow of the game is predicated on the card draws one gets and the dice rolls. It troubles me that there is a settled, rigid concept of best play. I haven’t played enough to discover many of the concepts. Being an iconoclast, it would be nice if this game would be complicated and large enough to allow for many styles of play. I have discovered the WBC tournament and am enrolled in it. Thank you. With a game just underway, and I am playing CP again. Incidentally, later this week I will be 73 years young. Hah. Dear Richard, I am very sorry to have offended you; it was not at all my intention. I think I have used all caps less than 4 times in my life. This one was not yelling or for anger. It was for emphasis! You said at the beginning that you wanted to sharpen your POG & i have tried to do that for you. See my reminding you of the special Total War Bonus GermanRepl in the tourney. You may recall the mess we had at the beginning of our match and need to restart with me as moderator and the ability for me to cheat because our referee refused to set up our game as moderator. I believe the gist of what he said was that it was not needed, no one made those mistakes, and he had to many players ( plus 70) to do it. Without a moderator, these timing mistakes blow up the game; that is very serious and I wanted to keep you from being in that position. I apologize for missing your treatment of Gaza & Beersheeba. At 73, I have my own memory issues to police. I also wasn't sure if you were aware of the situation in Medina. Finally, I am enjoying your approach to the game. POG has settled in to a very rigid concept of best play (and is probably best); I rarely beat them and I don't think your aprroach could. I have very much enjoyed face new and different problems you pose and having to find a way to adapt to them; it is very refreshing because your approach presents plenty of interesting threats. So I would like to continue' if you would. PS: the WBC - join for $10 a year runs their POG with moderators, which takes a load off!
