Bad news: You need some changes on the last 3 Axis attacks. Good news: The odds were actually lower on the 5th and 6th attacks and both of those units survive with a D2's. When halving for supply you first modify for terrain and divisional integrity and then half for supply. See 11.43. On the 5th attack, your 5-3-11 is doubled to 6 defense for woods and then halved down to 3 for supply. This makes this 20 to 3 and a 6:1 attack. With the 3 roll you get a D2 and not a De. On the 6th attack, your 3-3-11 is doubled to 6 defense for woods and then halved down to 3 for supply. 19 to 3 is 6:1 and then the air support makes it 7:1. With a 3 roll again you get a D2 and not a De. On the 7th attack you got the lucky D2 but your first retreat hex cannot be 2703 because of the German ZOC there. They will need to retreat through 2802 and then to 2702 (instead of 2602). Not much changed here. Normally you retreat back to a vacant hex but in this game (unlike others in this series like Cobra) the ZOC extends across major rivers. |

On the Soviet attacks on Turn 7: 1st attack at 1015 was a 6:1 and with a 1 roll gets a De/A1 result. The German 2-8 regiment is eliminated and per your instructions the 1-1-11 armor is eliminated and the Gds 11-7-7 advances into 1015. This cuts supply and retreat for the German division in attack #3. 2nd attack at 0716 was a 2:1 and with a 4 roll this gives a D1/A1 result. Both the German 9-8 and 2-8 will retreat 1 back to 0816 (the only hex available). The Soviets will either lose the 3-2-11 and then can advance or they may retreat 1. 3rd attack at 0915 was 6 to 4 and with an armor shift and both sides using air support which cancel made this a 2:1 attack. With a 5 roll the result is Eng. The German 297th 4-8 takes a step loss down to a 2-8 xxx and the Soviet 1-2-7 296th is eliminated for their step loss. I listed the correct unit for the overrun as the 23rd armor but listed his location as 1921 instead of 1820. To make the 8:1 required his defense to be a 1. If I had attacked the infantry in 1921 it would only have been a 5:1 (2 defense + 1 shift for armor) and he would have had an escape route. Sorry for my error in listing the wrong hex. Two of the units revealed in the combat phase had a different value in my counter mix. In the 8th attack, the 81st rifle division is a 7-11-7 two step unit instead of a 5-4-7 which makes that attack a 3:1 instead of a 9:1. Fortunately, the die roll was a 1 and that gives a D2 result which will eliminate him anyway. However, we need to remember this for the next game. On the 10th attack the 124th rifle division is a 6-8-7 in my counter mix instead of a 3-4-7 which again is a 2 step unit. 18 to 4 makes this attack a 4:1 instead of a 9:1 which with the 5 die roll gives an A1/D1 result. So the Soviet unit will take 1 step loss at 3004 and the Soviet HQ will stay there and the two German 9-8 infantry divisions will retreat 1. There is a 3-4-7 for the replacement counters so I put that unit back at 3004. I hope that is OK. Again, we need to remember this for our next game. 1st and only overrun for the TN 6 German Mech Move: 23rd Pz moves 4 to 1920 and then attempts to overrun the 23rd Soviet armor in 1921 using 3 more movement points. 8 to 1 defense (halved from 2 since out of supply) makes this an 8:1. If successful, the 23rd will advance into 1820 and stop. If the die roll is a 3 and there is an A1 the 23rd Pz will retreat back to 1919 and 2019. |
