Thanks for the game Jeff! Couple other comments - Prior turn, would not have advanced with BE1 - BE1 is not strong enough to defend on its own. Moving away from BR4 greatly weakens your position, allowing my split attacks this last round. 100% reiterate that playing BR1 for event was very important. Would rather have used the FR reinforcement for 3ops, and forego the RU attack. Getting BR reinforcements on the board should be a priority, they are needed to hold the west front ealry. Generally, I will hold a BR reinforcement card on T1 if drawing both, to ensure a T2 BR play. BR advance on Basra is easily countered, as you can see, and causes the AP to use more ops than really worth it. Might be better later in the game as a way to stretch the Turks, but early on all you need is one extra BRc in Egypt (to threaten the siege of Beersheba/bypass of Gaza). You pulled too far back, in my opinion. As the AP, I prefer to make the CP push me out of Brussels, versus giving it up without a fight. Retreat back to Ostend and hold that space. A CP line including Ostend-Brussels-Sedan is harder to break than only Brussels-Sedan, since neither Ostend nor Brussels can be attacked by two spaces at once. Get the BR reinforcement on T2, and put it with BEF/BE1 in Ostend and dig there. Much harder to get them out than Amiens (bc of the swamp), and you're giving up too many VP spaces. You don't need to trench Belfort, already has a trench and mountain. CP VERY rarely ever attacks Belfort after pulling the army out of Mulhouse. Better to use that OP elsewhere. Pull the army out of Belfort once the GE7 moves. |

Amiens Level 2 I agree that playing BR reinforcement events to increase the Brits given the lack of RB Corps is prudent. I can only play one BR reinforcement in a turn. The advantage of CP high OPS cards over the next several turns will be critical in wearing down the AP.Everything depends on the ability of the AP to counter that with similar cards. Michael, I much appreciate the consideration and will continue if for no other reason than to gain insight into your expert play. You can probably guess that the AP cards have not been especially optimum, whereas I think that the CP cards have been as well as the combat results in critical combats have not been kind to the AP either. In any case - I will soldier on: Instead of the Melun failed trench roll I will count a failed roll at Lublin and Move RU 8A > Grodno That still leaves the combat in Turkey 2A:3C (I think your CC is still in effect as well. +1) |

I don't mind if you care to change that move to Lublin instead. Certainly up to you on continuing, I don't think the CP getting to TW first is a game-ender, but does give the potential for the CP to get some bigger TW cards early. Getting set up for Italy to come in is also important to the CP. You are definitely behind on getting BR reinforcements, but doesn't mean the game is over. |
