373 9/13/2022 4:42:00 PM Winter 1916 Central Powers Message yeah I think lack of a BR army in Turn 2 was a big one. I would however say that a big factor, compared to my own past games, is that I have stopped being afraid of a RU push into Hungary. Even relishing that CP units will be able to be rebuilt in Budapest and retreating instead of fighting over the region. Which gives more OPS to keep swinging into the western front. Which puts AP in an awkward spot in how to defend while MOs, which is at a 50% for a FR or BR MO, forces AP to attack. Making a beleaguered situation even worse.

I will definitely try to new AP tactics with the Russians as I myself don't think I have a good answer currently to heavy CP agression in the west out of the gate.

371 9/13/2022 4:36:00 PM Winter 1916 Allies Message You might be right about the Russian advances.. I primarily focused on strengthening the northeast - but got lured forward to capture the easy VPs in Hungary..

The dices were quite even - and a better timing (by the deck and by me) of Italian entry could have stalled the VP count around 18-19 for some time i think - perhaps giving me the time to crack the NE -and building up the brits... but hell - loosing control of Calais was a grave mistake...

370 9/13/2022 4:30:00 PM Winter 1916 Central Powers Message Thank you, mm I usually don't play this agressive but got convinced to follow up with agressive play after a good GoA opening by a fellow Pogger.

I think heavy agressive CP play lends itself well to the midgame as AP have a hard time juggling MOs and events that is hard to play if put under pressure (Italy and Salonika for example).

I more and more think AP play of Russians going into AH is a mistake and that the real moves are to threaten Breslau and Berlin immediately after CP swings at the FR Forts. Either way CP early pressure on the western front seem so strong. Looking back at the dice they weren't beyond average.

We'll see what the future bring, lots to uncover in PoG even in modern times!

I do not think that the Russians can push it for another round...
Late Italian entry gave me the last push.. didnt have a chance to defend against that Austrian stack

Interesting... it has been a very long time since I played against a so aggressive german advance... I am not really sure where I made the mistakes in my attempt to make a new defence line - but bad it went :)
