996 9/6/2022 8:34:00 PM Winter 1919 Central Powers Message I added up what I had left in the area army-wise, which was GE11, the AH army, and a single AHc. With your RP you had enough to get 6 defense (+3 for fort, shifted to 12 for trench), and I'd be attacking at 9-shifted-to-6. So even the first roll could end in disaster for me, and no result would be less than 5 hits, leaving me with 6-shift-to-5 for my next attack, etc.

If I'd had time to perhaps SR in another GE army or something, it would have been possible -- but that would have depended on e.g. Szeged not falling in turn 19.

994 9/6/2022 8:27:00 PM Winter 1919 Allies Message I think you played amazing well though and I am unsure I deserved that win. It is troubling that until the start of this turn, I thought the most I could hope for was a draw before realizing that there are no draws in tournament games.

I honestly thought the game was over so many times and then one of us would pull it back. When Constaniople fell, I thought it was completely done and then was amazed at your ruthlessness in Russia. It was an amazing offensive to see. I seemed very ill-prepared for it.

I made two substantial mistakes mid-game (playing Bulgaria, and depending on "winning a 6 to 5" to let me make that MO that one time. I think I might have managed to hold it if Szeged had held out that first time (leaving the Austrian Armies available in Belgrade) but after that I needed "incredible dice" and they were only "nearly incredible" :)

992 9/6/2022 8:23:00 PM Winter 1919 Allies Message Every Front had some crazy action on it. You demolished my French early in the War and if the Brits didn't get there, the game would have been over. Then the Front moved to the Italians and they looked almost destroyed. Then the Middle East was caught up in the fighting with Constantinople falling. Finally the Russians absolutely collapsed before a separate peace was made with them in the final hours of the conflict.

Heh - one of the most exhausting games I've played, so I wouldn't be disappointed if you gave up ;)

I made a big mistake in early total war that gave away much of a strong position (mistake was entering Bulgaria -- would have been much better to force you to enter Allenby and march all the way to Constantinople the long way, and saving Sofia to boot). Lots of lessons learned for sure...
