wow, being an Italian, your English is excellent! haha, those CDG are the ones I used to play too... yes, Jukka is a great player... you will learn a lot from him.... I can see why you're becoming so good. another Italian I know that plays FTP well is Domenico Licheri... he now lives in London, working there... I am amazed and happy to see this pool of excellent FTP players from Europe! |

I am Italian, living in Italy. I am 35 and I work in Finance I started playing boardgame physically with some friends, but now I switched mostly to PBEM. I play many games PoG, Barbarossa to Berlin, EoTS, but also Twilight Struggle, the only one I play still live, and Imperial Struggle. I think I was lucky to reach the final twice in a row in a such competitive tournament like this one. I play a lot with Jukka, mostly PoG and BtB an I learnt from him some tricks. It would be fun to play again a friendly match in the future. Since family will enlarge soon so now, coupled with my demanding work, I'll have to decrease a bit the game menu probably |

>>I totally agree with you but I was a bit in a rush in pushing you to zero ... you shouldn't have to worry about pushing CSA SW to 0 as it will go down steadily thru blockade and burning resources... you should be concentrating on keeping USA SW above 50 for Lincoln's election, which is what I was gunning for at this late stage of game. >>... but if I had sent some reinf there everythimt would have been easier.... yes, I saw that and took advantage. >> Anyway I think without you Major CC I would have won because AONV was trapped probably, but I would have saved the Minor and do something else to position my armies differently ... but yes, your position is strong at that point, and I would need to come up with a better plan which won't be easy. |

btw, what's your background? are you an Italian, or just living there now? I'm curious as I saw your name have steadily risen in FTP circle. |

I totally agree with you but I was a bit in a rush in pushing you to zero and it would have been complicated to switch the armies at that time. Also another big mistake was letting you take Manassas and Frederick the first time. I had a very low hand and I wanted to clean the mess in IN, but if I had sent some reinf there everythimt would have been easier. Anyway I think without you Major CC I would have won because AONV was trapped |

Ha, I did miscount TN... you have exactly 13 spaces... I missed Clarksville! so that brings CSA SW to 51+ ... whew, barely made the cut. |
589 | 11/11/2024 2:38:00 PM | Summer 1864 | Confederate | Message |
thanks for a great game, Daniel! you have pushed me this far... one of the very few long games I have played... you gave me a few scares along the way ... I think one error that you could have done better is sending Sherman with a big army down to TX... instead, I think it's better to have him sitting in Grafton or Pitts, defending against Stonewall... Sherman can attack/defend much better than Burnside ... then, even with a Campaign, CSA cannot really do much if Sherman can hold his ground. you can then send Burnside/AOT with just a small army down to Atlanta area to burn all those resources ... you'll get more SW than just taking TX. |

Thanks for pointing that out, I think I missed CSA Bloomington in my map Anyway let's change this way Leave Pleasonton and 1 in Knoxville so Atlanta can be burnt and McDowell goes to OH 1 in Cincinnati, 1 Columbus and 1 Dayton Away from map, but this should be enough to negate your raid so you have to react at least |
581 | 11/10/2024 7:33:00 PM | Summer 1864 | Confederate | Message |
Looking at the board, I don't think there is anything you can do with the last card to prevent the game loss... I positioned AONV [6] in Pitts so that I have multiple options to attack, to gain SW or prevent SW loss. 1. AONV can easily kick McDowell out of IN 2. AONV can attack Harris ... you need to roll a 6 to win the battle... if not, it can then attack Philly and convert Trenton to raid NJ 3. AONV can try a last gamble attacking DC, if Harris defense do only 1 damage and then Baltimore defense do only 1 damage 4. as a last resort, AONV can detach a corps to move 8 spaces to attack Knox, to prevent Atlanta burning, if somehow AOT can manage to get there with 1 inf SP, instead of cav CB. |
580 | 11/10/2024 7:19:00 PM | Summer 1864 | Confederate | Message |
also, your 2nd move of Campaign is ineffective... there is still 3 CSA PC markers in IN... so a raid there will still occur. I deliberately burned a card to convert the 6th space in IN because I saw that McDowell with 3 sp can only convert 3 of the 6 raid spaces with no other SP available for you to use. so without doing anything and even not playing my last card, CSA will double the USA SW and win. |
579 | 11/10/2024 7:15:00 PM | Summer 1864 | Confederate | Message |
I always play with a good sportsmanship conduct... and this being the Final and you have played a kick-ass game this far, I should point out that AOT n1 in Atlanta will not be burned because a cav brigade can only remove enemy PC, cannot convert PC at the end of turn. I know you want AOT to be in supply, but your move constructed this way will not destroy the resource space. |

LOL... Daniel, you are doing great, a major accomplishment to push me this far. that's the problem with online play, can't convey the light poking fun, trash talking in a friendly way ... which is why I prefer face to face play where players can make fun against each other in a nice social setting. |

>>AoNV,n5 in Uniontown right? Maybe at the end of the turn would be great to share the map yes, AONV was at 15 sp... lost 1 in Cosh, left 6 in Pitts, lost 3 in Uniontown... so n5 now. sure, send me your map at turn end. your AOT leads a charmed life... it evaded twice, almost destroyed... then intercepted to Uniontown, stopping Stonewall's momentum.... but its luck will run out soon enough. |
