Realise that actually disadvantages you because it involves the loss of 1 SW overall due to change of fortune with the blockade, but my reading of 12.4 would be that while there can be variation in each step, the steps in 3.42 have to be done in order, resulting in the SW award from WV only taking place after the destruction of Nashville & Memphis: 'During the Political Control Phase, the order of multiple SW effects in the same segment or step is determined by the player whom they affect. ' |

For SW swings, it is generally accepted to take based on favorable to each side, with caveat that War Weary and War Guilt must be last step. For Csa it is more favorable to actually end with US SW 100+ CSA SW 64- Because want to avoid SW swing hit again in T6 blockade roll T6 fail NA Csa 64- 2 =62- (If Csa end T5 with 66 + then T6 blockade fail NA = 66+ -2-3=61-) |

No worries Nick, real life always takes precedence to gaming. Re SW, rereading 3.42 and 12.4, I think you've actually short-changed yourself on the SW gain there: According to 3.42, I can now see that the PC markers should be placed first and the SW calculated for the destruction of Nashville and Memphis in Step 1, before you gain the SW for gaining control of WV. That actually should leave you on 66+ rather than 64-. Step 1: US SW 90+ (+10) CSA SW 72+ (-10, -3 momentum) = 59- Step 2: US SW 100+ CSA SW 59- (+5, +2 momentum) = 66+ |

How do we calculate the SW changes when there's multiple factors at the end of the turn? The rules state that the player it affects choose which goes first, but how does that work for destruction of resource spaces? |

I believe the extra SP in losses is only applied if the the space from which he entered the battle is enemy controlled, not OOS. Since BG is US controlled the 1SP should still be there. C.f. 7.61 THE ATTACKER: The attacker must always retreat into the space from which it entered the battle. If this space was enemy controlled, then the attacker loses one additional SP after the retreat. If the attack was an Amphibious Assault, the force is returned to its origination space. |
