bye
206 1/20/2025 9:03:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Message As stated previously, I am a new player who has difficulty understanding cryptic codes and trying to play a game with messages instead of being able to see what's going on with an actual map like in Vassal. I guess new players shouldn't play at tournament level. Please remove me from the tournament. I forfeit all games I was supposed to play. I already informed the other guy I'm playing (Mike Kettman) of my decision. Thank you and goodbye.
205 1/19/2025 4:49:00 PM Spring 1862 Confederate Message Tim, Thanks for the game.
how many games did you play before ?

It's normal to make mistakes at the beginning.
As Union, your first goal must be to protect DC. you should build fort as much as possible in Frederick and HF, Pittsburg and Manassas if possible.
and also keep many sp in the area.

keep going and you will play better and better.

I will set up our other game Tomorrow.
204 1/19/2025 4:46:00 PM Spring 1862 Confederate Message why did you say that ???
see log 182, I rolled it.

203 1/19/2025 4:44:00 PM Spring 1862 Union Message I was just told on BoardGame Geek forum that your assertion that when your 10 SP attacked my 2 SP at Frederick "there is no die roll for defense because of the battle ratio" is incorrect. I should have been able to roll as defense to make you incur losses before you attacked DC. just so you know for future games!
202 1/19/2025 3:49:00 PM Spring 1862 Union Message I am trying to learn how to play this game, and am frustrated by repeated errors causing confusion on my part. I have 4 1 OP cards (one of which is worthless to me now that you attacked and wiped out my force before I had a chance to play it) so I hereby concede. I have asked on the BoardGame Geek forum if it is true that in a 5:1 attack there is no defensive die roll as you stated. Thanks for showing me how to play better. Goodbye.

198 1/19/2025 7:31:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Message I'll be at church for the next few hours. I'll check ACTS when I get back to see what your second campaign move was.
197 1/19/2025 7:13:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Message Never mind, you still have your 2nd move.

196 1/19/2025 7:13:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Message So before we continue, is the attached map correct?
195 1/19/2025 7:10:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Message That's what I mean. Since you went ahead and rolled for attack on Frederick I was unable to play either of those cards (if I had it).
194 1/19/2025 7:04:00 AM Spring 1862 Confederate Message I can't use a special card now?

I don't know which you speak. but if it's a card to cancel an activation or automatic interception or mud. it must be play before dice are rolled.

up to you for your card

181 1/19/2025 6:19:00 AM Spring 1862 Confederate Message No, you have 1 try with the highest political leader. Burnside here. if it was Banks there is no try to avoid battle because of his value 0 in defence.
180 1/19/2025 6:19:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Message I guess that would not be wise either. So are you using Elite in attack on Frederick or how many DRM?
179 1/19/2025 6:16:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Message Can Banks and Burnside each independently try to retreat with 1 SP?

You can avoid, no interception (you already rolled for it) and/or roll for the battle.
176 1/19/2025 6:12:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Message In hindsight I obviously should NOT have attempted intercept at Strasburg to save one measly SP!
175 1/19/2025 6:10:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Message I'm trying to understand your message. I think your 10 SP at Strasburg was overrun, then did you leave someone behind at Strasburg, then move to Manassas and leave 3 there, and then attack Frederick with 4?
174 1/19/2025 6:07:00 AM Spring 1862 Confederate Message If battle I will choose my drm. waiting if you avoid or not

I will place it later.
160 1/18/2025 12:56:00 PM Spring 1862 Union Message I figured out LR stands for Little Rock. For Strategic Movement I move 4 SP from DC to Charleston, SC & 1 SP in DC to Bowling Green along with 2 SP from St. Louis & 1 SP from Cincinnati ending with 5 SP each in Bowling Green, Cincinnati, & Charleston, SC. For General placement Curtis goes to Cincinnati & Stoneman goes to DC and forms a cavalry brigade with McDowell commanding him & the 3 infantry SPs there.
159 1/18/2025 12:38:00 PM Spring 1862 Confederate Message Sorry

Yes of course it's savannah and of course I can have one reinforcement for state and one for blockade.
158 1/18/2025 12:33:00 PM Spring 1862 Union Message I think you meant to place the Blockade Runner SP in Savannah (not Charleston) so the question is can you place another SP in the same place as reinforcement?
157 1/18/2025 12:22:00 PM Spring 1862 Union Message What's LR short for? And I'm in Charleston with 1SP and a general so I don't think you can put a reinforcement there with me!

142 1/18/2025 9:00:00 AM Fall 1861 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #14: 3 / Red River Campaign
May not be discarded by the Union. Union must use this card as an OC. If at the conclusion of movement, a Union SP is not on or adjacent to Grand Ecore, LA, then the Union loses 5 SW points. If a Union SP is in one of the objective spaces then a Union PC marker can immediately be placed to convert the space or spaces. Remove from deck if Union plays card.

140 1/18/2025 8:53:00 AM Fall 1861 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #82: 3 / Foreign Intervention - Reshuffle/Remove
Either player can play this card as an EC when Confederate SW is 110+. If this is the last card in a players hand or the second to last and the player holds the Emancipation Proclamation, if the condition is met, it must be played as an EC, if not it can be played as an OC. EFFECTS: 1. Union Blockade reduced by one (cannot become greater than 4 for the remainder of the game). 2. Union -2 SP Reinforcements for the remainder of the game (Union choice). 3. Union SW reduced by 10. Remove from deck if event is played. If card is played as an OC or discarded re-shuffle deck at end of the Strategy Phase.

Message from Union:
Halleck leaves 1 SP at Fort Sumter and moves with 1 SP into Charleston. Cards need to be reshuffled at end of turn.

137 1/18/2025 8:04:00 AM Fall 1861 Confederate Message In fact no need to roll on an empty fort.
If you attack with 2sp, it's automatic ; one die and the other stays on the fort.

134 1/18/2025 8:01:00 AM Fall 1861 Confederate Message SW is only during the Political phase or when you put a flag on it.
Not after the battle.

I let you roll
133 1/18/2025 7:58:00 AM Fall 1861 Union Message So +5 for Union and regular Confederate die roll will probably result in 1 SP loss each. Go ahead and roll as defender. Does SW modification occur at conclusion of battle?

131 1/18/2025 7:24:00 AM Fall 1861 Union Message Just realized that with amphibious assaults +2 for fort & +7 for odds, event, & battle rating means Union has +5 on Fort Sumter, right?
130 1/18/2025 7:21:00 AM Fall 1861 Union Play Strategy card as Event #57: 2 / Admiral Foote
Union may make a naval move with up to three SPs plus one general. If an amphibious assault occurs, you receive an additional +2 DRM. Add +2DRM to any Running the Guns die roll.

Message from Union:
Halleck with SP uses Foote Event to do Amphibious Assault on ungarrisoned Fort Sumter with +7 DRM (McDowell stays in DC with 1 SP). As a guaranteed victory, does SW change now or later?

128 1/17/2025 2:16:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #3: 1 / Forward to Richmond
Union may activate any Union army within 4 spaces of Richmond, VA. The army must enter Richmond or move as close to Richmond as possible, but may convert spaces to maintain an LOC. All SPs associated with the army must be moved (no dropping off SPs), except 1 SP may be left if the Army began its movement from a fort (if last SP, move completed). If played by the Confederate, he draws a card from the Union hand which is discarded, and the Union player follows the instructions of this card as his next card play.

Message from Union:
Create fort at Manassas.
127 1/17/2025 2:11:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Message There is a fortress at Manassas in my OTHER game, not this one. You are correct; we each lose 1 SP so AotP retreats to Wilderness.
126 1/17/2025 1:54:00 PM Fall 1861 Confederate Message when did you create a fort in Manassas ?
