I did not realize that the Richmond/Capital/Virginia SW loss was 42 points. I forgot the Capital loss part. Personally I thought you played a great game, but over reacted on the Mississippi and were very unlucky with the cards. I won, but I do not feel like the Union did enough to win. That said it was the most entertaining game of FTP we've ever had. |

So the keys to the Union victory was taking Arkansas Texas Virginia and the Union Blockade and avoiding Major Battles. .............. Honestly not very impressive. I played to win the whole game except one or two card plays wher eI did what was fun . In summary I thought I played a very " Gamey " Game. Remember it was a very entertaining game, but your getting the cold blooded Richard R Forsyth analysis here. |

Luck: Getting 5 Blockade cards was very lucky for me and you only received 1 Reinforcement card that I can remember. Yes you had some battle cards that saved your patookie once or twice, but the 5 Blockade cards were a real game changer for me. |

So anyways..... I flipped Fremont and some units onto the Eastern side of the Mississippi to discourage you from moving them East, meanwhile you had set up some series death traps all over the map, but before we get into that we need to talk about luck or at least my view of it. |

AnywaysI would like to discuss what just happened. I am not trying to gloat. I only think you made one mistake startegically. Maybe 2. I also think your luck was awful in some regards. I thought your defensive set up in TN was awesome. It was so awesome I wanted no part of it.I kept repeating to myself that the Civil War was a war of manouvre. So I worked the Western side of the Mississippi where you had close to 0 units early in the game. Eventually you figured out what I was up too and readjusted your forces after I took Texas and was threatening LA. When I studied the board I realized that at that point I wanted no part of the Mississippi or the key points where you had forts. Memphis and Vicksburg. I decided that I needed to take Virginia at that point, but I didn't want you taking Lee and sending him East with 8 SP's or so into mid TN and sending your Army guarding Atlanta up to Virginia. I thought you were a little light on troops in VA compared to the other places on the map. Hold on I can not see what I have written. |

The Union won the battle at Marshall 2-1, so the fort was destroyed and the Confederates eliminated. I am not sure what happened next, as you rolled for a second battle. |
