Thanks Mike. I've actually already been defeated in my ladder match against Rex Shi (Noooooob). I was making good progress as CP but got too lazy defending a balkan offensive and lost Constantinople. This allowed him to get a shocker automatic victory before I could sufficiently dismantle Russia. What that means is, I currently have no active gaming obligations. I've already added you to my friends list, feel free to send an invitation when your schedule allows |

Thank you Matt! I hope we can play again later (on RTT, haha). I am on the new ladder playing against the strong and semi-famous player from Galicia, Spain, named z666. He is so good and a really cool guy. We are already close to Turn 10! RTT just moves along so quickly and is so much easier to do live play when the times synchronize. I am learning a lot as always. POG is perhaps the best wargame ever made, so I am very thankful that it is entering its new era on RTT. I hope is all well with you my friend and that we can play again someday. Good luck in the next round of Ladder! You are almost at the top! Best, Mike |

Hey Mike. Thanks for your note. I'm fine with finishing the game, I've gotten pretty busy myself. I agree that CP are in a pretty difficult spot with so few RPs. It was a pleasure playing against you, generally I agree with you about RTT. The smoothness of the experience is vastly superior to the status quo, maybe even a little bit too good.... My username on there is also Matthew Johnson, feel free to invite me for a rematch whenever you like. |

Hi Matt, Sorry from my end now for the long delay. Crazy, crazy week. Just got time to sit down and load the log and catch up with the game. It looks like I have some errors on the losses on the West. I think it would be best to officially resign and close out the game for me. It is going to be a distant long shot at this point with an empty GE RB, etc. The next ladder round is starting and I am already pretty low on time for gaming, so I hope it is OK with you if we end it here. You played great and it was a pleasure meeting you and sharing the game. I hope you do well in the next round at the top of the ladder! I am paired with z666 and he is a very experienced and active player from Asia and I think I will learn a lot. It will be nice switching to RTT now, even though I will miss the ACTS days. We see that it is just so nice to have a 3rd party keep track of everything so that the errors don't bog down the rhythm of play. You and I are both somewhat careful, but inevitably stuff happens. Also, it is a real luxury to just pop on to a browser and make a play instead of loading up ACTS, Vassal, and a log. Time is precious and I am realizing that I have enough on my plate nowadays that ACTS just isn't practical. Hope you are doing well and thanks again for all of your sportsmanship and good attitude. You definitely earned that victory. Take care and hope to play again with you! Mike |

>>>> Mike- First of all sorry that I couldn't manage more activity this weekend, my wife got sick so I didn't have as much leisure time as anticipated. I do think I will be able to crack the Germans, maybe immediately with the right rolls. But you would have been fully within your rights to claim a win on time, so I say thanks and big respect for your gentlemanly attitude. We can for sure keep playing. I have the feeling this might be my last ACTS game ever (fully addicted to RTT), so I'm happy to see it through.<<<<< I hope your wife is feeling better! Nice of you to help and sounds like that should definitely have been a priority over the game. We both put ourselves in some time pressure at the end, and I was part of that too, without a doubt. "Luckily" we got to a position that seemed pretty clear who would win, so it seemed very morally necessary as the losing player to own that loss. You played very well, with great sportsmanship, and deserved the win. You were not an "absentee" player by any means. You had to take a little time off at the holidays and that is totally understandable and should be allowed, so thank you Matt for the great game! It looks like, barring some crazy series of rolls or some serious AP mishandling (which I do not foresee happening by you), like you will definitely get your breakthrough. I am sure you have seen the CP eliminated box. ;) For the CP (and the GE), the proper emoji should be :( RTT is an amazing new option for POG players. It is so polished and user-friendly and has great product support from the team. I like reading your comments in the Discord too. ACTS is kind of an end of an era for me, since it was the first platform that really got me playing serious POG and studying the game more. I will miss the real PBEM experience, but it is obvious that it costs so much more work to make a play than on RTT. With RTT you just pop on to your computer and in any browser you can make a play and the system keeps track of everything without the errors that we experience on ACTS, even when we try to be careful. Even though I am going to miss POG ACTS, I think RTT is a great development and we are going to see better and better play by the top players as time goes on. I have seen some of the Asian players that have already logged hundreds of games and play at such a high level. I got to play against a couple of them in my first Mini Cup and it was truly impressive! POG is probably my favorite war game of all time. Napoleon's Triumph is the only game that makes me have to think about a favorite... I play NT once per week live on Vassal/Discord with my friend from Vancouver. It is an amazing game that plays within 3 hours. POG and NT are the best and having POG on RTT is just a real treat. Maybe someday NT will make it there as well and there will be more opponents and a richer community. If you ever want to try NT on some weekend, let me know - no pressure and no rush, and not sure if that is your type of game since I think you often prefer higher complexity. Really nice to meet you and really fun POG that we had. I hope we can play again! |

Hi Matt, Tomorrow is the due date for the results, and I am reviewing the position and I think it is safe to say that if we were to continue that the AP would have this one locked in. I will report a CP resignation to Jeff via email just so he can proceed with the next round pairings. If you would like to continue playing a few more turns to see how the game goes I am happy to continue some more until we see the real breakthrough, but no pressure if you would like to focus on other stuff. Likewise thanks for your sportsmanship. I'm hopeful that a bit more dogpiling might be enough to get the Germans to crack. Losing a British army really hurts my attacking power in the West, so far you have held me back from what I consider to be the "game over" spaces. In this sense I suppose I should issue a "super supply warning", although you are probably aware: if I advance into Essen and Breslau, then only the cuttable route to Sofia/Constantinople will be supplying Germany and the Dual Monarchy. |

I definitely could not accept such a resignation, although I really appreciate the consideration. I am about at the point of resignation since you are at the point of a breakout on both of the major fronts right now. I just wanted to play through T15 to see if I could hold on and get some big RP drops to try to mount a counter, but you are smartly keeping the pressure on and I think this is going to be it. I replied to Jeff yesterday to give him and update and assure him that we will report a result by deadline. My plan was to resign as soon as we see it is clear that I would not be able to win by turn 20. I think you are at the point of forcing an Auto anyway. ;) |

Really nice final RU offensive here in Turn 14 - Summer 1917. I had your RU4 and RU2 take control of Czestochowa and Plock on the route to their destinations of Lodz and Posen since that was easily possible if that works for you. That could affect retreat options for me, so maybe that was a conscious decision on your part not to take them - just let me know if you prefer them to remain CP control. I see a Trench 2 on Tannenberg, so combat results would be 12A v 12A if I am correct. If this looks right to you and you would like to proceed, you can roll your own attack: Lomza: RU7, RU9, RU10 and... Insterberg: RU1, RU11, RU12 attack Tannenberg: GE11, (GE7), (GEc). Trench 2. No CC's. |
