I totally agree with clearing the Serb early. I saw a thread where people with even 30-40 games were commenting on not needing to clear the Serbs. Then i say Rick Byren say exactly what you said, and I believe Rick is quite an expert player of this game too. Having played with you, I know too well, how the Serbs can be pesky.. lol..

I have not played CP as much as AP. however, I have come to think that there is more value to taking the Verdun, Nancy line rather than Brussels. Brussels is a statement that you are trying to win early in the west, which is very hard to do. But getting a line that is only 3 long, as the rear can be be held with GEc or maybe one extra army where threatened, is an efficiency. also destroying trenches and forts. but the single most important goal on turn 1, and 2, is to knock out serbs and prep for Italy. in my book.

Also had to experiment a bit with pushing into FR.
I find that with my 14-15 games of play, that really the most optimum strategy for GE to build the Brussels, Sedan, Metz and Strasburg line, and help AH more early on to clear up SB.

Also try to get to TW ASAP.

I remember we played on game where i think I experimented with an all out attack on FR, with you doing an all out attack on AH. I think we should have continued that in hindsight to see where it would have ended..

But i feel that game has a lot of scripting going on.

Either commit to the West and GO all out and hope for an early victory by taking the FR out, which i think requires a lot of good rolls.. lol.

Or play more a defensive Western Front, which really is not very historical..

Is that your impression too?

You clearly are a much more experienced player David, so wanted to get your thoughts on that.
