Thanks for the game! I think the combat rolls were a bit one-sided, especially on the western front. Did you manage to inflict a single 7LF on the Germans all game? The chance of eliminating an army when defending on 9A (or sometimes 12A) is not that high, but if you never do it it is hard to halt the German momentum. You had slight better luck with digging, but Marseilles was a bad spot to run out of shovels... I wonder whether to add a "Dunkirk" rule to the house rules: allowing armies to avoid permanent elimination due to failure to retreat (or being forced to retreat OOS) by allowing them to use a friendly port to instead be sent to KO box. Usually I find that three AH armies is not quite enough to really hurt Italy, but the Austrian attacks improved quite a bit after the initial flop. |

I love it when a plan comes together... When (FR4) is permanently eliminated due to failure to fulfill retreat, no FRc is affected. If you had taken 7 LF, then the (FRc) would have been eliminated, but the penalty for failing to fulfill retreat would have been visited on the army; so in that case the net effect would have been to also move a FRc from RB to EB. So you got away cheaply ;) GE1 and GE2 advance to Nice for a well-deserved beach holiday. |
