I will keep on playing for the fun (!), but this is as I've already known for years : against an experienced Confederate player, Union is doomed to lose in an umbalanced cards/dice situation during the early turns. It's always the same : Strasburg-Manassas defense / Carolina Express / Lee at Richmond / here come the invincible rebels repeat The Union can only drives this off-track with a very aggressive stand early, but you need cards and dice. And it's even worse if the Confederates have them. That's why I stopped playing FtP tournaments. Of course I'm happy to see a different statmement. |

ok Alberto, I found the correct reference https://talk.consimworld.com/WebX?14@@.ee6c9ab/13328 in fact : - the cavalry generals in your army are not present, neither their bonuses of course - the -2 DRM regarding only apply in army-vs-army battles so in the end : 1)CSA+4 2)USA+5 it's still a 2*/2 result, but not for the same reasons :-) |

#105: 1 / Detached Cavalry Played prior to a battle against an army possessing one or more cavalry brigades. The ONLY effects are the Army’s Commanding General’s battle rating (offense or defense) is immediately reduced by 2 and no Cavalry general’s battle ratings may be used in the battle. The effects end at the conclusion of the battle. Cavalry generals are not available for casualty determination. OR: Place one PC marker in any space within four spaces (includes river connections) of a single cavalry brigade. The four space range many not be traced through Northeast Alabama. The space may not contain an enemy SP or fort, but may contain an Ironclad or Torpedoes. Message from Union: will use this for the battle I always understood this card as a -2DRM for the commander-in-chief IF the opponent is an army with cavalry, like the normla case, but I'm not sure if the effect of the card must be indeed literally applied and Lee has a -2 whatever the case. I will let you be the judge of that. If you have a documented answer, I'm interested. Please resolve. |
